Deleted and edited for a more serious answer: BB's ultimate basically gives u the idea for a new build. U hit late with ur current build and now we try to build him earlier. He gets a +%movementspeed ulti (which means it scales well , 28%). U could try a gimmicky chasingbuild (more movementspeed in items and slows for your opponents). movementspeed items = Phaseboots and Euls = helps with lasthitting early, mana and gives speed and a debuff+invunarable damage items = Armlet and/or Radiance slow items = Heavenshalberd or sange+sasha Lifesteal/armour if needed = Mask of madness in combination with HH or a Vlads with SS (i dont know if the damagebuff from the vlads also buffs the physical damage of quills, the MoM could be a nice combo with disarm against certain rightclick heros). Im a noob at itembuilding, but i would atleast try to build it around quills and movementspeedultibuff, which both are unqiue to his character. The above doesnt seem so ludacris to me and will hit earlier thx to a possible cheaper itembuild. edit 2 : just saw navi use the threads, vangaurd, rod of atos on bristleback in a semifinal game they won. seems appropriate to mention this fact

I never said this wasn't the case, but Tranquils as a lane sustain item does't work anymore because in order to get the heal you have to give up lasthits.

Dagon lowers cooldown with upgrade making it huge damage in team fights and since you last so long you can use it many times. It also gives you int solving mana problems.

Early mek on BB means teamfights will be really hard for enemy to take as your skills are specially meant for that and mek helps to keep all 5 more relevant for the whole fight. I'd like to see Bristle+Necro as dual core of a team sometimes ^^ I doubt BB has the mana pool to sustain a mek especially early on

It is very tight on item slots, but it's designed to be a completely aggressive, in-your-face early game snowballing build. Also, I get Magic Stick and then get Sage's Mask and Ring of Health (order depends) for some awesome lane sustain. I don't think you should try super cute builds. If you want to deviate from the standard, I recommend changing play styles and fine tuning a standard build to fit your desired peaks of power (my build peaks a bit earlier than most).

Last question: when do you decide to get Necrobook or not? If you get it, do you get it straight after Vlads + Threads? Do you skip Medallion of Courage/delay Black King Bar?

if you are uninterrupted in the jungle you farm stupidly quickly provided you dont get extremely unlikely with creep spawns. if both big camps are ursas and medium camp is centaur you are kinda boned.

If you plan on laning a Lycan, vlads is still a good pickup because of the synergy with your wolves + armor aura + some mana regen etc. Personally, I like getting a Midas into vlads mainly cuz I'm a really greedy player. Necrobook 3 is pretty core on Lycan especially this version because of how OP the item is. If you plan on getting it, going vlads, brown boots into max necro 3 is an ok progression mainly cuz your ulti gives you max movespeed. Medallion of Courage is still good if you plan on taking an early rosh, and BKB for when you have to actually team fight. Lycan is still a monster pusher and really frustratingly hard to gank if your ult is up, so early Necrobooks allow you to grab t1/t2/split push then use map control to farm game ending items. If you plan to jungle Lycan however, then you do need a stout shield and transition into medallion --> vlads (or bottle crow for mana problems). Do note it's quite dangerous, and you will have to do a lot of tanking and micro to keep wolves alive.
