what is viability of silencing team (krob+silencer+drow ranger, maybe riki also) potentially 15s silence (or silencer can get refresher for 20s+). the enemies can dispel once with manta maybe twice with diffusal, and if they get bkb silencer turns on ult. on paper, the silence team doesn't have to worry about getting focussed down, locked down, nuked and can strictly get armor and damage items Point is that altough could be good, ur better off with silincer with orb. Thats 10 seconds. U only need to take out 1 or two targets (rp or blackhole or naga etc), rest is obsolete or has less impact spells. I like a halberdteam more in combination with silincer+orb (noob opinion). I dont follow what you mean with silencer with orb. Do you mean orchid? http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Refresher_OrbIn theory its like: With ags and refr. orb : 7 sec * 2 = 14 sec global silince and can deal 2x 390 damage per individual enemy hero (each time they cast if im correct) Without aghs but with refr. orb : 6 sec * 2 = 12 sec no damage So, expensive yes, is it worth it, i dont know but the pros dont do it and i aint a pro. But if u want a silincestrat, i would go for 1 big silincehero instead of 5 (three) heros. Overkill edit : silince seems to be global without aghs (dotabuff), i dont know why i thought it wasnt... because you need to farm up 10k of items for 14s silence. with silence strat you have potential 15s team silence 15min into the game, and huge team fight damage with krob with single target damage on drow. add riki and disruptor for even moooore AOE silence but that would be overkill. btw, when techies comes out, it will be number 1 top ban/pick, calling it now. just trying to help, i like the idea. The aghs is nice tho. i think u basically silence, and disarm, and do 390 damage, and manadrain them for 192 mana for 7sec (although i have never tested silencer ult+aghs). Imagine that times two, thats just unfair Disruptor doesnt need many items either to be usefull. Yes i think it could work 11 heros now have a silence in 6.79. Bloodseeker has a 9 second silence. Nightstalker (3 sec daytime) 9second silence during the night. I think it means u could silence a single target, like stormspirit for 7+7+9+9= 32 seconds, LOL thats gg i guess Not really. It would be smarter to have one silence and kill him during that silence instead of chain silencing him for an hour while the rest of the members of his team kill you. how is the enemy team gonna kill my team when their whole team is AOE chain silenced , more importantly krob does insane team fight damage early midgame, drow does insane single target damage early midgame and both with little farm - they just suffer from weakness from chain CC which is the point of silence team. anyways, i dont think we need more than 3 silence's on team - actually we can start with drow silence -->krob silence --> silencer ult, this will be 15s and by then drow and krob silence will be off CD for another 10+s LOL, but really, they can kill the targets in the first 15 seconds. drow and krob are also very good pushers, but they arent late game material. the last 2 heroes slots can be saved for more nuking power, initiators/trappers, more pushing power (imagine during late game with silencer refresher 10+s, silence enemy team, then use your entire team to siege their tower rax because they can't initiate you/lock you down in the 10 seconds)
U could even try a initiator silence and then manaburn the high priority targets. Same result easier tactic. No mana is also silinced, only initial global silence * 2x needed (more individual silence is nice ofc) and it is alot easier to execute, its more versatile and safer (my opinion). And u can still use riki with a d-blade, disruptorsupport, silencer mid (he needs farm), antimage manabreak (huge), earth spirit support. Maybe im getting to creative now...

There is already enough reasons why battlefury is a sub optimal choice for lifestealer but there is more. Most of the heroes rushing battlefury actually needs the regen and splash to farm woods and ancients. Lifestealer can already do this with his built in abilities. One could argue that buying cheap movement speed or/and attack speed items makes farm faster then a battlefury would. These kind of items also obviously helps him more in killing heroes then a battlefury would.

If I wanted to only level stats, what hero would I have the most success with? First instinct would be silencer, or someone with high stat gain like tree or pl maybe?
Edit: invoker doesnt count
|
pugna has the highest int gain i think, just throwing it out htere

As in, no points into any spells at all? My first guesses would be Luna or Sniper, really.
edit: I think this question would be more interesting if you were allowed to put a single point into one non-ulti skill. Which hero do you pick then? Which lvl1 non-ulti is the most useful?

He means stats only not passives so you'd want a fast MS/good non-int stat gains/good range

If you can have one skill I think the answer is lion with hex. A nearly 3 sec hexer who buys wards is probably going to provide more to the team than any carry could. Other possibility could be enchant for a push strat, wisp tether, tree armor that is relevant late for towers, or earthshaker fissure/disruptor disruption if you are particularly godlike.
If you need to carry.. ummm go for rapier crits with gyro/medusa/kunkka?

Well you can't actually take a point in stats every level so you don't really have a choice but to level another skill. It has the same level restrictions as any other skill.

Purely from a perspective of lane matchups/tournament 1v1? There's a few accepted top tier picks in tournament 1v1, but beyond that, it's very counterpick-dependent. A tier list would have very little practical value.
i'm talking about a matchup list for laning like Pudge vs QoP in mid for example, i'm looking for a list that tells me who is more likely to win if these two heros clash in mid during the laning phase. Who is supposed to get more lasthits etc.

with over 100 heroes in the game, the amount of possible matchups that could occur at mid are astronomical. you will not find a list anywhere that has details on who is more likely to win the lane. its easier to just ask a question in this thread

Venge, Slardar, TA, Sand King, Night Stalker, Naga, Magnus, Sylla, DK, Clockwerk, CK, Brood, Axe, and Bane all have pretty decent naked stat growth.

anyone know how to bring the international backgrounds back? ever since the 6.79 patch ive been stuck with the ugly red one
|
enter either of below to launch options
-international -international2012
former is for 2013 , latter is for 2012

i know the commands. they dont work after the patch, which is why im wondering if theres a solution
|
speaking of the commands. the range-ring-thingy was removed, but there is this "range-finder"-thing, which draws a line between your spot and the mouse to show if range is ok or not.
how did this thing was named again and how do i put it into my dota without typing it everytime via console?

Sorry, i thought it will end when the diretide+spirit thingy ends. Probably we will use the commands after that point.

dota_disable_range_finder 0 - The default is set to "dota_disable_range_finder 1"
Some useful commands that I always use (not some, actually):
dota_minimap_hero_size 800 - Default is set to 600, which on the minimap the player icons are sooo tiny. dota_health_per_vertical_marker 500 - Default is 250, which means every 1 bar of your health marker (above the hero) equals to 250hps.
Regarding the background commands in the launch options (-international and -international2012), really think they've disabled it since the new background has been implemented. Still not sure though if it won't work.

QB bonus damage does not apply to Cleave in any way.
