In my opinion there is no easy and right answer to that.
Strafe increases your damage output greatly, while skeleton walk increases your movespeed by a lot.

Your ulti also increases your base damage by 30-55 for 35 seconds at lvl 6. That is more mana efficient than searing arrows, but requires you to make a detour into the jungle every now and then.
Obviously that is another reason why strafe can be viable.

Still it depends on the current gasme whether you need skeleton walk more than strafe. Sometimes extra 33% movespeed are invaluable.

Since strafe doesn't improve with levels very much, there is no discussion regarding max-ordering (max arrows, max walk, max strafe with ulti when possible). The discussion then hinges on when it is adviseable to get the first level in strafe. Often skipping strafe is OK since you simply don't have the mana to use it. However, I'd say it is defensible at level 4 or level 8 in certain situations.

When in doubt, skip it though. The mana cost is too high and the upside too low at level 4 for it to be right "in a vacuum" so you have to KNOW you want it to want it. Level 8 its more of a farm thing. If you have an oblivion staff and treads or something, then maybe. Otherwise just level 10 it I think.

Usually you want at least 2 ranks in Skeleton Walk. Leaving it at 1 rank is awkward because it doesn't leave you any wiggle room with regard to re-activating your invisibility. Ranks 3 and 4 of Skeleton Walk vs Strafe depends on the game.

Skeleton Walk is not by default betetr than Strafe.
Strafe is Clinkz' only burst damage. Basically it doubles his attack speed.

If you don't have the mana, maybe you should overthink your mana management or buy some clarities.
Using death pact 1(100 mana), skeleton walk(75 mana), activating strafe(90 mana) while having searing arrows activated(10 mana per arrow) may cost a majority of clinkz manapool(265v + arrow usage), but I know for a fact that it can be worth doing.
Saying Strafe sucks is definitely wrong.

One thing of note--even if you're maxing Strafe last, it can be good to have 2 ranks by the time you finish Orchid, because rank 1 Strafe does not last the full duration of Orchid, while rank 2 does.

get strafe at lvl 4. all those who recommend skipping it until 8 or 10 severely underestimate strafe's damage output. at lvl 6 or 7 you can immediately go into the jungles, eat 1 big creep and pretty much guarantee a kill against any squishy, whether it be a mid sf or a support in a different lane. the only time you wouldnt get strafe at 4 is if you are severely behind in exp or farm, but in that case you are already doing something else wrong.

Hello everyone. I had a game recently where our team consisted of Alchemist, Gyrocopter, Jakiro (me), Zeus and Windrunner. One of my friends was afk and when he came back he instantly picked alchemist and didn't realise we already had a hard carry in gyrocopter but it was fine still I guess. Windrunner is a random we got paired up with and I swapped my pick (WR) with his random (jakiro). Zeus dced alot throughout the game as his internet was being annoying, and lagged throughout. The game is here: http://dotabuff.com/matches/392411179

One of the issues I had when I watched the replay was I was severely underfarmed as the hard support on Jakiro and we lost the safe lane to CM + Slardar, hence Alchemist and I started forcing team fights whenever it was favorable. In the end I was looking at our team items and no one had purchased the Mekanism in a timely fashion (I bought it when the game was almost over...) I look at Windrunner and she's building a Scythe of Vyse already at the 25 minute mark with 2 of the big items already which would have been a mek at around the 20 minute mark instead of a Scythe of Vyse or perhaps earlier (not sure). Could I argue that the earlier Mekanism would have benefited the team more in team fights instead of trying to rush this late game item which wouldn't have contributed earlier, which could potentially save some of our heroes? She didn't even have the chance to use it since we were already killing their barracks and she had equal farm to the gyrocopter throughout the game. (I had problems with this Windrunner's play where she would take guaranteed kills for the carry... sigh) Alternatively, could the zeus have gone for the mek?

When is radiance a good thing to buy? I'm unsure what situations/heroes it's good for.

well, there's radiance rush on bear. the reason they do it (in my opinion) is that:

- he can farm it probably due to the lack of early game presence unlike previous patches where the bear can use armlet
- since he can farm it (and ideally farm it fast, around 18 min mark i guess), the bear is tanky enough that it's hard to bring down and most heroes during the radiance timing are kind of 'soft' that radiance is gonna hurt like a bitch. so aoe burn + tanky bear = good.
- radiance can also be a pushing/farming item and illusions also carry the rad 'aura' (like spec haunt).

1. If u want strategy and more balance from your team, get 5 people in your party who want to work together and dont go picking extra dudes up from pubs. Pubs is a fight against ur teamm8 who gets last hits. .. (or atleast alot of the times)

2. I saw dendi playing windrunner 2 days ago, which lane and role i dont know i guess offlane (but not sure), purchasing order : wand, bottle, tp scroll, forcestaff, sheepstick, blinkdagger

If I'm windrunner and there's a jakiro on my team, ofc I expect him to buy the mek.

A couple of points:
1) A 5th position hero should almost never be the one buying Mek. It comes too late to be impactful because of the 5th position's heroes demands for buying wards/smoke/etc. already. A support Mek is fine, but even on supports, it should be on the more farmed of the two supports. In that particular lineup, Jakiro should not be buying Mek because he is likely to be the least farm dependent hero and therefore already shouldering the burden of wards/smoke/etc.
2) If your Gyro is intent on playing carry, Alche can support. Alch+Jakiro actually is a very strong dual roam (Alchemist has the initiating stun, Jakiro has a follow-up stun and secondary nuke). In this scenario, Alch is actually also an acceptable Mek carrier.
3) Who gets the Mek is not something that's set in stone after hero selection. It depends on how the game is going, who is how farmed, and at what point in the game your team wishes to push/teamfight. A Mek should be bought on the hero that can most reasonably provide it for the earliest possible time your team will want to teamfight. A Mek that does not turn into a push/teamfight timing is unnecessarily early, but an early enough Mek that is used to enable pushes/fights can outright win the game before the 15 minute mark. In your particular lineup that game, Jakiro, Alchemist, and Windrunner were acceptable Mek carriers. Jakiro is hard to put the Mek on because of how low his farm priority is. Windrunner can get it if it happens to come at an appropriate time, but depending on the game it might not be wrong for her not to buy it (particularly if you have DCed players and cannot force pushes/fights at times you want due to being down a man).

Note that Zeus is actually a very poor Mek carrier. Mek has a very high mana cost and puts a lot of strain on the hero to have enough mana to use it at the best time. Zeus' inherent mana usage is too high to allow him to buy Mek until too late into the game.

Item selection is highly dependent on so many factors in the game that it's basically worthless to recite a build some pro player did in some specific game and blindly copy that. The important thing to learn is when a player gets those items and why.

This is most certainly wrong. The correct Mek buyer is the one who can provide it at the timing where the team needs it. An off-lane Windrunner usually gets this in the 12-15 minute range where teams are starting to make their midgame timings and make fights happen. Even if there is an appropriate support Mek carrier, this does not make it OK for you to push the Mek burden onto them if they can't get a Mek in that time while you can.

If the Jakiro is exceptionally farmed, you can let him buy it. If you're sufficiently behind that you won't get it much faster than him, you can let him buy it. If your teamcomp or other factors in the game (e.g. a player DCed) demand that you avoid fights anyway until a late enough point in the game where he can have the Mek regardless, you can let him buy it. But under normal circumstances, you will be able to afford it when your team needs it and he won't, making you the more appropriate buyer.

Why is it that when people post for trades of Quas Wex Exort essences, it usually goes like:
-[H] 1 Quas Essence [W] 2 Wex/2 Exort/1 Wex 1 Exort Essence

And it goes around that combination, they want two of the other essence that they don't have for only one of theirs. I'm confused cuz all those essences have the same rarity and you're asking two for one, that doesn't seem fair to me.

Also, there was this one guy who was trading his Shadow Essence for any one common essence.

What's the standard for essence trading?

They're just trying to rip people off. Same deal with sites like dota2lounge. Always one rare for your two rares, in the hope that someone is dumb or desperate enough to agree.

I don't think I would ever initiate a trade with a spammer. Partly because they're annoying, and mostly because if they're blanket advertising, they're blanket looking for dumb people.

Although the guy trading a shadow for any other essence is... uh... I'm pretty sure he's ripping himself off. Question might be better here.

Gems are fully shareable, anybody with a gem in their inventory benefits from the gem (exception: couriers). They also obviously drop on death.

Rapiers drop on death. I'm not too clear on the sharing mechanics here but I believe for a person to benefit from a rapier that they do not own, the enemy must have held that rapier at some point.

Also, TP scrolls are fully shareable.

Thanks alot! Greatly appreciated.

From your information and the game itself, we ran a carry alchemist in the safe lane. Most of the fights mid game were orientated towards the Alchemist's safe lane and we had many team fights there where people would just barely die so I think the mekanism pick up on WR or Alc at that stage could have been a massive advantage. And yes, as Jakiro I probably didn't even have my boots and magic wand for a very long time and I only got the mek at the end as no one got it unfortunately. I also agree with the reasoning where we should have someone buy it in a timely fashion - it makes such a big difference in early game team fights when I get it as a non-supporting hero.

Just to be clear, Tangoes, Clarities, and Salves are not shareable. Fully Shareable means you can give the item to another hero and they will be able to use it without restriction, which is not the case for those three. Yes you may still cast it on allies, but you cannot share them with allies, the item will be muted and unusable when given.

The Tango (Shared) item created by Tangoes is fully shareable like old times.

RoR, RoH, and Sage Masks are Partially Shareable. The passive will work but they cannot be upgraded by non-owners.

And lastly, Divine Rapier is not a shareable item (nor is it even partially shareable), contrary to popular belief.
Here's why:
The original rapier is muted on any ally that picks it up, and they cannot use it even when given by the courier. So it's muted in all cases for everyone except the owner. By definition, not shareable.
Secondly: The free rapier. If an enemy picks it up, the rapier becomes this permanently. It is no longer muted if an ally picks it up. Sounds shareable right? Wrong. The free rapier CANNOT be removed from the holder's inventory. It may only drop on death. Thus, rapier is never a shareable item in any way.
If you want to catch a rabbit just hide behind a tree and make the sound of a carrot.
