I'm lvl 2, and I'm learning by playing each hero once (I'm still at the D letter). Any other suggestions on how to improve? Focus alot on your positioning. Example, watch the minimap alot. Can you see 3 or 4 heros on the minimap? Chances are a gank won't come in the immediate future. 3 or 4 people are missing from the minimap? You better hug your tower, or at least back away from your lane. It's always better to back away for a wave, accept those missed lasthits, instead of dying, losing money and missing more lasthits. Also, positioning in lane. Let's say you're a ranged hero playing top(hardlane, longlane), Radiant side. You are up against a melee carry and a ranged support. The support player will want to deny you lasthits, either by denying creeps or harassing you out of lane. The support walks in behind the treeline to the right, you should stick to the left of the lane so you won't get harassed through fog. Same goes for other lanes/scenarios. Example, you're mid. Top lane is missing, stick to the bottom right of your midlane. Basic stuff like that will help you IMMENSELY in your play. Also, don't be greedy. I know it's so tempting to chase that one dude with 10 hp half way cross the map to get the kill but it's not worth it if you'll die on the job.

Escape/Durability in wave/morph, rune control in wave, burst in wave and milder burst in adaptive strike. Morph early gives nice stats as well. So why do we not see him run as a mid as much? Sure on paper, all of that equates to a decent middle. As you said, Waveform to Rune control/lane control + Replicate to help Gank. Problem is tempo, all middles set the tempo for the game. Now let me give you an opposite example of a famous middle. Nightstalker on paper is actually a terrible middle. He's beefy enough not to die, yet he cannot lane push, he cannot control the runes, and he cannot gank until 6 or nighttime. So you're stuck Voiding for last hits versus average middle. Morph tapers off...if you were able to get an Ethereal Blade magically then he could continue his tempo but that usually requires freefarm to get such an item at a quick timing. Not to mention just a bottle won't compensate for Morph's huge mana requirements.

Also, I need some help. Below are a list of questions: 1. How do you guys differentiate PA and VS? They look exactly the same! 2. why does pugna's netherblast have this pre-animation now? Isn't that a huge nerf compared to dota 1? 3. How do you guys differentiate BS and BH? they look exactly the same! 4. Where is the furion cliff spot on the scourge side? The trees look exactly the same! 5. when did tree change so that his armor can be globally casted?!?! 6. What is the hotkey for skilling? 7. Is there a hotkey for glyph? Thanks!

Thanks! 1. better eyesight, visit your optometrist. 2. dunno 3. see 1. 4. I guess you could use the top rune ward spot to kill the medium camp but cliff jungling is pretty bad imo. 5. a few patches ago. 6. ctrl+skill hotkey. for stats you can hit o then u 7. you can set it in the options menu.

On May 30 2013 01:42 d_so wrote: 4. Where is the furion cliff spot on the scourge side? The trees look exactly the same! Anywhere that is on the high ground but is not blocked by a tree to see the camp. There's not one precise spot, there's a couple that work, just use common sense. Press o, then the hotkey for the skill you are skilling (or u for stats). This is changeable via the key bindings in the options menu. Press control+the skill hotkey (or u for stats). This is NOT changeable and is fixed. On May 30 2013 01:42 d_so wrote: 7. Is there a hotkey for glyph? Thanks! Yes, check the keybindings for what it is and set it as you please.

I"m talking about the circle that appears before the actual blast goes off. Can the enemy see that?

Thanks! 1) Vengeful has that huge Semi-Moon she touts in her arm. 2) Always there. Perhaps a Hon equivalent had a non-delayed blast which is confusing you? 3) BS is never picked. Problem solved! Best way to differentiate them is BH has a baller cloak. 4) Yellow camp below the green camp to the left. You teleport up on the ledge I believe? 5) Many patches ago? ![]() 6) O then the hotkey for skills you have setup or U for stats is default. 7) Yeah it's like T by default I believe.

are you sure.. Let me try to articulate myself a wee bit better: - In Dota 1, netherblast worked like this: you set the aoe. Pugna pauses. Blast goes boom. - In Dota 2, netherblast works like this: you set the aoe. Pugna pauses while simultaneously a circle appears in the blast radius. Then the blast goes boom. So my question is, that circle that appears while Pugna is pausing: is that invisible to enemies? And for those who say it doesnt matter -- even though it's a slight difference, it was possible to play a lot of mind games with the old Pugna blast animation by mixing it up with your normal stop animation.

Hey thanks, I appreciate these answers especially the VS one. I'm still confused by the scourge cliff spot. In dota 1, it was very clear where to port, as there was a divot in the trees. I can't seem to find that in dota 2. Actually, that entire area seems to have changed in dota 2. For example, when you ward that rune spot, in dota 2 it seems you can plant the ward anywhere and still get sight on both the rune and the neutral creep camp, whereas in dota 1 there was a very specific tree you had to plant the ward to get sight of both.

Like I said, just port to any spot on that cliff that has vision of the camp. You can generally just fit in a tiny gap between two trees on the ledge.

Another notable change is that there is a patch of trees that was on low ground in DotA 1 but is now on high ground, meaning it cannot be used to chokepoint jungle. You can generally just fit in a tiny gap between two trees on the ledge. ok thanks! follow up questions: In dota 1, if a prophet was at the scourge cliff spot it was possible to eat 2-3 trees to get to him. If your advice is correct, that means it is now much harder to get to furion if he's farming there, right? Also, it appears that, as a whole, it is much easier to 'fit between trees" in dota 2 than in dota 1. Is this correct? Dota 1 had a lot of spaces that were blocked, but dota2 it appears easier to blink into a swarm of a seemingly dense swathe of trees.
