i also dont think unranked party games affect unranked solo rating. i play a lot of unranked party games, and very rarely unranked solo. on the odd occasion where i have played unranked solo, my opponents and my team were garbage. then whats the explanation of me suddenly dropping ~600 unranked mmr after spending 2 weeks partied with my 2k friend? there is no decent explanation i can come up with. i was pretty happily playing ~Very High then bam down to 3000-3100 You dont know what your unranked mmr is or was and you are using completely inaccurate data to make wrong conclusions. Again, if you want to track your mmr PLAY RANKED if you aren't playing ranked stop talking about MMR because you don't have one. i just told you i dropped from Very High (~3700) to Normal / the bottom of High (~3100) , this isn't made up rating this is , as far as i know, valve's output for my games . you can also very easily tell by the player quality the difference between low/mid 3k and high 3k is extremely noticeable but that's even beside the point if you look at my link then it clearly shows a drop from Very High to Normal/High after my hiatus with my shit tier friend. i am suggesting that playing with him (and losing a LOT) fucked up my solo unranked mmr. if you have a better explanation for why there was a sudden drop then i am open ears
There's your answer, end of discussion. Hidden unranked MMR works exactly the same as ranked mmr, u lose ~25 win ~25 every game, if u lost a lot, its only 20 games to go from 3700 to 3200.

i won 3 games and lost 600 mmr just forget it

If im playing Timbersaw and they have a skywrath, or silencer or someone who will rush orchid, is it reasonable to go lotus first?
|
If you mean Lotus before Bloodstone, not really no. As first item after Bloodstone, then yes. Bloodstone is a farming item first on Timber that incidentally happens to offer useful combat stats. If you want some added survivability, go for casual cloak/wand/infused raindrops.
|
if u really really need to go first item that purges over bloodstone, go euls instead (unless using self-euls just setups something else for the enemies then prolly not), offers a lot more utility and mana capabilities.

If you are in a Very High match, it doesn't necessarily mean your unranked MMR itself is in Very High. You could have been by far the lowest MMR player in those games since unranked games can tend to be really unbalanced (your teammates could have all been 4k+, etc). Regardless, thinking about unranked MMR is absolutely the dumbest thing you could ever do so stop doing that. It's a waste of time....
if you have a better explanation for why there was a sudden drop then i am open ears The answer is always going to be that you just aren't good enough yet. Stop worrying about all the stupid shit and just get better at the game.

i dont think you understand still let me explain what happened one more time i played the following solo games (approx but you get the idea)
+ Show Spoiler + HIGH HIGH HIGH HIGH HIGH HIGH HIGH (X45) HIGH HIGH VERY HIGH VERY HIGH HIGH VERY HIGH HIGH VERY HIGH VERY HIGH VERY HIGH VERY HIGH VERY HIGH HIGH VERY HIGH HIGH VERY HIGH
then i partied with my 2.3k(ish) mmr friend a fuckton without playing barely any solo
then i played solo again and got this
+ Show Spoiler +
i then won 9 games in a row and got this
+ Show Spoiler +
does the trend make sense now? do you think i dropped from the cusp of Very High down to Normal coz i wasn't good enough or coz there was a weird interaction with my 2k party games? (which incidently are like ~50% winrate coz we are shit together)
all i'm suggesting is that party and solo unranked mmr effect one another , playing against (and losing to) low tier players in a party brings down your solo rating

So why does it no affect me when i play party ranked with my 3k friends and when i solo i play 5k games (unranked)

i heard if u keep making new accounts, u will eventually calibrate to ur true mmr of 4k

Is the Io TP to cancel Relo 2nd port patched? I had about a 10-15% success rate with it a couple of weeks ago and even after 100 attempts I didn't hit a single one. Have I just lost the touch or is this removed?

1) EDIT (actually) ~45 games unranked precalibrated solo , 109 games unranked precalibrated party 2) it happened like 1 game before i hit level 20 (able to calibrate) but this might be coinidence 3) it happened after a long period of only playing party games (this isn't entirely accurate tho coz i played a handful here and there but probably like 2 weeks of party-only games directly before it happened? not sure)
so your guess is as good as mine but i dont know if you can dispute that it is a clear and abrupt drop of ~500 hidden mmr
|
u care way too much about your unranked mmr, go play ranked solo and get good
As long as it remains hidden MMR you can't actually know almost anything about it.
|
i dont CARE about my MMR do i im trying to figure out why i was playing in Very High and suddenly put into Normal i got like 20 people in a row not even reading what happened i dont give a FUCK about my MMR i just want to play with good people and i was playing with good people up until yesterday when suddenly my account shot down to 3300 for no fucking reason and i had to play with fucking bots again

No offense but you're literally the only one not understanding.

The sad truth is you will never hit an MMR where you think the majority of random pubbies you are playing with are "good players". (I would like to post a poll but I'm not sure if it's within the rules)
You only think 4k+ MMR players are decent - or w.e number you have in your head - because when you play with them you're so out of your league you realise how awful you are, but then when you're actually at a similar level of incompetence as those guys you'll actually be able to realise their flaws and mistakes. The only time when you will think the random pubbies you are playing with are good is when you're 1k MMR below the average game level and getting rekt cuz being you're out of your league.
There is no promised land of mmr and while I'm at it, Santa Clause, Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy don't exist either.

I mean it's possible that party and solo unranked affect each other for accounts that haven't calibrated. I wouldn't bet on it, but it's possible. You could conceivably level an account to ranked without playing a single solo game, and Valve would have to pull a solo MMR from somewhere once it starts calibrating.
More importantly, though, you really cannot say that you have been at 3700 MMR just because you got VH unranked games. I've seen several people run a smurf into VH unranked and then calibrate in the low 3ks.
You have an MMR of 3700 if you win ranked games until you have a ranked MMR of 3700. That is it.

And the fact is smurfers can ruin a lot of games by being either way above or below the average MMR of the game and valve's algorithm probably tries to prevent this. So stop smurfing or complaining about whatever mechanism valve put in place to prevent you from ruining games for 9 other people, you have to choose.

u dont read my post do u i was suddenly put down from Very High into Normal BEFORE i done my calibration games my question was , was it because i spent ages partying with my 2k friend? i'm not "complaining" (it was obviously annoying as fuck) i was just asking what the fuck happened

whether solo and party is related in unranked is anyone's guess. i'd think they probably are and it takes a casual approach at tossing you random opponents based on whether you win or lose against them. it does not take into account the player's observations of the game quality. it's just a computer doing work and it hopefully gives you good player matches.
i don't know how the calculations are done or if they even affect anything, but it's possible the average experience level and unranked 'mmr' simply dipped because the system needed to put you and your friend together against other groups.
then as you begin to lose in those dipped games it lowers you drastically to match that result: losing to players who were supposed to lose to you most of the time. invariably, your mmr goes down.
as you were on a newer account, maybe it takes these calculations in with more weight. maybe not at all and it's all the same across all sorts of account records.
