i know someone will say this should go to the dota QQ thread or whatever but this is a real question that I can't understand. I personally dont mind playing support but if i already picked a hero or see 2 supports then what am i to do i even ask to swap but no.

Even when ppl ask before and during the game they still dont. I can't rap my head around it. It makes no sense you pick a support and your losing the game and everyone is asking for your help yet you refuse because they think its the "bitch role"????? come on. again this is a serious question. I have found a lot of game ppl think its a bitch role or something. i know someone will say this should go to the dota QQ thread or whatever but this is a real question that I can't understand. I personally dont mind playing support but if i already picked a hero or see 2 supports then what am i to do i even ask to swap but no. Im not gonna defend that kind of behaviour, but it probably comes a lot from "if you dont play your role i dont need to play mine" kind of mindset. I mean I know it can be very disheartening to play a lane support, leave carry for a few moments to go pull only to watch him die the moment you left. Or maybe you warded your jungle to make sure enemy rotations into it is spotted. And then you see enemy mid entering your jungle, you ping him, your carry doesnt respond, dies 10sec later. Depending on the game and my mindset such things could definitely affect me aswell, although I dont flat out stop supporting unless I deem the game to be over. Also when you're forced into solo support because all the others picked 3 lane cores and a jungler, I guess a lot of people go like "well dont expect me to support when none of you do it and instead you pick 4 cores". Some supports really need an item or two and playing solo supp ES or something who badly needs a Blink can be frustrating.

When the 3 (or 4) first pick are cores, first of all it means you have 3 or 4 players that aren't that much focused on winning as supports should be picked first Why would you bother play "serious" and in the meta when you're already surrounded by people that want to have fun while someone else be the bitch of the team. Also, in pubs, cores gets all the farm. Unlike in pro games where cores let their supports get some farm for key items, in pubs cores just won't care. At some point yesterday my team said I, the sk solo support, should initiate with epi. It was 40 minutes into the game and i had boots wand and cloak (i thought going glimmer cape could replace the blink as a broke solo support). Don't get me wrong, i like supporting and i play it a lot although i prefer core heroes and mid position (what i played when i was in a team in wc3 dota). But people talk to their supports like they are slaves or dogs, shit on them and are never happy with the warding. Lastly when i play core, i rarely find supports that do their jobs and i often take on myself to get some wards down. And it never hurts my farm so bad i can't win after that. So if you're complaining your supports isn't buying ward, just fucking do it yourself and stop blaming other people for it. 75g is peanuts for a core mindlessly farming 90% of the time.

Answer: Not as depressing as it is for your team to blame you for the loss.

I think it's just they value having fun themselves (which often means farming enough for certain items) over helping the team win.

as for why people wouldnt want to support, well its because the support role isnt defined in dota. plenty of support heroes can carry provided they get farm and tbh its not uncommon to find a shit mid or carry and lose hope, so you just go "fk supporting ill get my cores out and make something happen"

When someone says essentially "I can't have a lane so I'm going to take jungle" and that is their entire thought process, it usually means they are a bad player. Your lanes will be weak, the only support pick will be weak, and pretty often you have the BONUS of having a vulnerable jungler who is feeding the enemy.

But, as the support is is your job to buy wards and such. You can easily solo support in pub games, buy wards, and still find farm. Yes typically it is advised to let your carries get the farm, but most games carries aren't efficient at all and you can still easily find a wave here or there. If you're solo supporting and you find yourself at 30-40 minutes with just brown boots and a TP, chances are you are just as or more deserving of blame as your allies.

Your lanes will be weak, the only support pick will be weak, and pretty often you have the BONUS of having a vulnerable jungler who is feeding the enemy. how can you blame teammates for picking heroes before you and going into their respective lanes. if you have 3 solos and a decent jungler (lycan for example) you cant blame your teammates for making you the only support. games like this happen frequently and if you were any good at dota then you would do your job as a support; keep your team alive past the early game and watch your 4 cores destroy their 2/3. if you honestly think only having 1 support in a team actually loses games for you, then youre just not good enough and by extension your teammates arent good enough. sure there are some heroes that can handle solo supporting better than others, but its not impossible. rubick for example does a magnificent job solo supporting. i actually prefer solo supporting with rubick because then i can rely on my cores to do damage and feed less rather than worry about another underfarmed support.
