I think Valve should really try and secure visas for pro e-sports players. Like you qualify and play super well then bamm, no visa, bye-bye money. So sad
I assume Clutch will take their place as runner-up, really sad news though. To be able to qualify for a MAJOR in a region with Mineski (and arguably Fnatic) and then getting beaten by the visa office is such a damn shame.
Not sure if Clutch will be able to make it in time, and not sure if it'll be any different for Clutch anyway since they're also from the Philippines. Probably would run into the same issue.
Its not suprising at all if you consider the political circumstances. the german foreign office has classified the Philippines as potentially dangerous; they have been issuing warnings not to travel there for years. Due to Duerte's government being the unstable clusterfuck that it is at the moment, i highly doubt that any player from the Philippines will be granted a visa to Germany, or central Europe entirely, until at least the civil war in Mindanao is resolved.

We have a new team going the DC route of qualifying in Fnatic.

Fnatic confirmed for the event, an ESL rep on reddit said something to the effect of "These things happen on very short notice, and in the end Fnatic was able to attend with the same roster they played with in quals" Which could mean Clutch didn't get back to them, Clutch didn't have enough time to secure visas, or Clutch is having a roster change
Clutch didn't have enough time for the visas. Neither did HappyFeet
