The fact that there are Fortnite "pros" already is hilarious to me. There are no real tournaments yet and I doubt any teams are scrimming. So these "pros" are just streamers playing pubs against kids and casual shitters on xbox and smartphones lol.

I can see Battle Royale being an "esport" with a different sort of model. Big on-site tournaments are probably a no go cuz of the logistics of having like 100 people all playing at once. I thought that BR "tournaments" would make more sense with the old model of automated war3 tournies that are constantly going on, but with players paying in and can win real money.
Doubt they could set something like that up cuz of all sorts of gaming laws around the world.

It was $126 million in February. They won't throw one of these every year, but the 100 million seems like an easy amount to justify. Especially if they can sell ads for the broadcast.

I think the logic is basically that if blizzard can sell the rights to watching paint dry to twitch for millions of dollars then anything can be an esport if you throw enough money at it
