It'll turn out into some kind of "feel the other teams" event rather than something serious where they have to play their hearts out. TI3 alliance went 14-0 during the group stages dude sure they did but VG also got a 12-3 at the end of group stages and all the teams they faced will have surely took it seriously and threw everything they got cause it's for elimination ..and not "oh they are rolling oh well even if we had the slighest chance of hope lets just abandon that so that we can save energy we are not gonna get eliminated by it anyways" The thing is that half the time in that kind of group stages even at the start of the game the idea that "they can give up" and not try their hardest cause they aren't risking anything unless they are one of the last placing teams. That doesn't give the best competitive environment. but that's not my point at all rofl I'm complaining about teams not playing at the main event I'm not complaining about the fact that there are meaningless games and all of the ti's so far have had them that's why just make the bubble bracket games played on the event venue(ofc assuming the schedule doesn't go bonkers) it's just the same .. yes maybe 3-7 teams won't get to play the venue but that happens to most big tournaments like the latest mars tv (where 2 teams got eliminated .. it's just 2 but worst teams are likely to get eliminated immediately anyways) among other tournaments every tournament had meaningless games but during group stages if there's no real elimination threat it's like half the games aren't even treated seriously .. and with 16 teams the group stages will most likely be the hugest amount of games and it would be pretty bad if most of the games aren't even treated seriously except this is ti not some run of the mill tournament there are shitty teams at the Olympics, shitty teams at the world cup, etc and they all get to play and compete in front of an audience why not just make the tournament where everybody just double their hardwork if this is the case .. like you said it's The International aka. The Biggest Tournament of the year as much possible just eliminate the riskless matchups

i care about every team being at the main venue playing matches in front of live audience, regardless of how bad you perceive the team to be, or how meaningless you regard the matches to be.
