From personal experience I'm relatively confident that most people above 5k still completely suck ass (including myself), even more so in analyzing professional games. But I don't think that means that really high MMR people are necessary for a podcast, at least as long as you approach it from the right angle. For example this episode of the podcast was about TI invites. Even a person who doesn't play the game really and just follows tournaments can open up Liquipedia and give a pretty accurate description of what different teams have done this past year, what roster moves have they made, where do they stand compared to other teams in terms of results. Already giving out these descriptions accurately gives far more information than the average person who follows dota has of the scene. Of course it is ideal if you have people there who can also provide an interesting discussion about a team from a gameplay perspective, but honestly I would be surprised if one can even find such people who are both willing to put the time in to really look through replays to understand what a team is doing, what they do really well and what they do poorly, and also able to do that sort of analysis well and present it to the listeners in a way which they find interesting. I don't even know if anyone else but Ver has tried to do something like that in written form. If you don't have that, just stay away from half-assed analysis and talk about facts. Maybe get interesting guests and let them talk about their own experiences etc

Granted he's never showed up in a tournament or on a big team or generated any hype but he's not exactly invisible.
