do you guys have music on when you play ?

I always have nightcore on. Usually individual songs playing on itunes, which I pirate from youtube with a youtube-mp3 converter website, and also some 1 hour + compilations of songs. EX: + Show Spoiler +

It's high pitched sometimes/most of the time, but it's much faster/more upbeat than a lot of other music so I like it a lot.

I don't listen to any music when I play. I enjoy the dota music a lot and swap between a couple of song pack. Plus nothing beats the smoke music, so good.

Oh yeah the nightcore songs are pretty cool

i've noticed that most of the songs who have copyright are a bit faster .. actually sometimes it sounds better than the original

I've hardly heard any of the original songs. When I do, it's usually after hearing the nightcore'd version in a mix, so I don't like it very much compared to the nightcore version just because it's not what I've been listening to for the past few months or so.

I've actually been wanting to create a new electro swing playlist, but I don't have the motivation to go through a bunch of mixes and download all the songs that I actually like manually from youtube like I did with nightcore. >_<

I had always listened to my own playlist while playing Starcraft 2, but I never do it with Dota, somehow it doesn't seem right to me.

I bet that tax is huge too. Taxes on prize money in the US is almost 40-50% depending on the state. I bet China is just as bad. I wonder what tax wizardry Amazon is going to use to get them the cash.

Move it to the caymans, take out a loan in the us, pay the team back with loan, pay loan on the caymans, ez. n_n

Interesting plan. I was thinking that DAC could just send the money to Amazon Chine for an equal amount in gift cards and sell those to Chinese Esports fans. Then Amazon could transfer the funds to EG through a massive refund their prime accounts. Then they could live of Amazon gift cards for like the next 6 years tax free.

You see, the government doesn't' track gift cards. The plan is flawless.

Edit: You have to try really hard to go to jail for tax fraud. Mostly they just slap a huge judgment on you and garnish your wages. Esports wages.

Uh, that's in principle how a lot of big cooperations bring their income taxes down, though? Apart from that it was more of a facetious statement trying to highlight how poorly ESPORTS teams are organised. Apparently they don't give any thought to how to play their players in advance.

Its an issue that everyone deals with. Even my firm would be hard pressed to not get double taxed in the same situation. Nations what their tax dollars and no one wants to be left footing that bill. A lot of the problems that Esports teams have is related to that fact that the sport is so global, so there are a lot of unforeseen snags like this one. Visas are another too.

Its another reason why more regional events are just better for the teams and event runners. Just less shit to deal with.

I'm actually so sick about how retarded ESPORTS "companies" are. Apparently bullying starladder admins and being capable of buying some chairs in the middle of a chinese metropolis earns you thet hrone of being basically an ESPORTS manager Jesus.
However such trivialities as getting your payers paid is something best left for months after the actual event.

To me it seems as if teams complain as soon as actual companies stop throwing money at them and they have to, you know, work for it. Paying for travel and accomodation? How could you possibly ask that of a company whose main "product" it is to have players wearing billboards plastered full of sponsor logos attend competitions.

Not having 5 star hotel rooms for everyone or having to get up at 5am to catch your flight? Better let your employees bitch about it on twitter. Holy fucking shit. With all this talk about a "player union" they as well as the teams should get their act together first. Apparently anything that is at allrelated to work is unacceptable to them. I wish ESPORTS would grow up for real or crawl back into the cesspit of idiocy that spawned it instead of everyone always blaming other parties and demanding they act "professionally" while having a worse work ethic than a 5 year old with crippling mental disabilities.

No offense but I assume that your organisation doesn't exactly rival Amazon in scope and as such probably is much worse equipped to deal with such problems. Apart from that, what I really don't understand is how they could not possible have had even the slightest bit of an inkling that this may arise to be an issue in the future and accordingly thought about how to get an acceptable tax rate in advance.

Its hard to separate the valid complaints from the BS. Have a shitty hotel sucks, but maybe not something you bitch on twitter about. Unless you feared all your shit would be stolen because the place is so fucking shady.

Also, the term “bullying” had to be removed from discussions about business transactions. Its so whiney. All of business is “bullying”, its how you get shit done. Same with law. We don’t do shit because we are nice.

Edit: I mean, we are not amazon, no. But we are bigger that EG dota team and all its staff for sure. I am just saying that there is a reason they had to call the big lawyers at amazon and my firm would need to pull in some outside help too. And they might have been fully aware it was going to be an issue, but you don't want to spend the attorney time until you need it.

Fine then call it enforcing your point of view on someone who's in a clearly inferior position without any possible recourse. Still isn't something that requires a particularly high amount of intellectual capacity, skill, or anything really.

If I recall correctly the captain of a german football team got fined quite heavily by his team because he left a party an hour early. Yes, he was required to show up to a celebration of them winning something. If you compare that to the lack of "professionalism" ESPORTS "personalities" get away with while basically demanding to be treated like A-list celebrities, it's hilarious.

I apologise if I came across as if I wanted to put your law offices' competency in question, I didn't mean to. Apart from the fact that as an ESPORTS team they should deal with this exact issue on a regular basis and thus probably have already had to put in the attorney time there are other non trivial differences when comparing this situation as well.
For example Amazon US probably wouldn't care much if they had to pay out an additional 250k in "salaries" in exchange for that amount on a Chinese account whereas it might put a smaller company in serious liquidity trouble.

I don't do tax law, but I do know that stuff like "just paying people an extra $250K for one year" generally is a good way to get audited a couple years later. We deal with it every year because our firm advances funds for our clients and its huge amounts of cash that the government wants to know about. There is a reason that there are attorneys that specialize in that filed.

And the other issue with tax law is that you can't be sure. Its not like the government takes the taxes off the top when the funds are transferred from China. You need to put aside the correct amount and pay later. In some cases, like the state lottery, they do that when the funds are issued. But with a thing like DAC, the players likely need to put aside some money to pay the taxes on it.

Cynic is so funny
"wow actually caring about and doing shit for the players doesn't mean anything a real manager would skillfully maneuver international tax law and get his players money instantly"

I actually don't think it's possible to do better than to provide ur players with advice from literally amazon's chinese money transferring specialists.
