Did people really think DAC was trying to scam the players off their money or something? Seriously? Obviously it was something like this... This is why players don't go public about not receiving prizemoney, because the community turns it into a massive shitstorm, when it might just be a tax/whatever issue. I think Majors are going to be organised by ESL+joinDOTA for EU, MLG+BTS for US and Prefect World for China. StarLadder gets kind of left out, but they would get to cast everything in Russian, so I guess it might be fair? | ||

Also another question is whether there will be a 2nd major in NA as Valve most likely will have TI in Seattle still. Maybe they will, or maybe they will have it somewhere in Eastern Europe even. | ||

Personal guess would be be ESL/DH/DAC getting major status unless problems arise with DHW being on a set date. If thats an issue it might be 2xESL (as in CSGO) or ESL+MLG or something. Starladder being an outsider but people often seem deterred from organizing major events in the CIS region and they dont have the same experience as the others. | ||

Taxes on prize money in the US is almost 40-50% depending on the state. I bet China is just as bad. I wonder what tax wizardry Amazon is going to use to get them the cash. | ||

I was thinking that DAC could just send the money to Amazon Chine for an equal amount in gift cards and sell those to Chinese Esports fans. Then Amazon could transfer the funds to EG through a massive refund their prime accounts. Then they could live of Amazon gift cards for like the next 6 years tax free. You see, the government doesn't' track gift cards. The plan is flawless. Edit: You have to try really hard to go to jail for tax fraud. Mostly they just slap a huge judgment on you and garnish your wages. Esports wages. | ||
