Yeah exactly! Like to me what Tusk offers is the mix of control between his skills, but at 1 point sigil is pretty mediocre and 1 point in either of the other skills means low dmg and also hurts the usefulness of those abilities.
Like 414 could possibly work out because snowball is something you use defensively or for the stun a lot, but 1 point snowball has a short stun duration. Giving up stun duration + dmg seems too steep.
I don't really know if 1-4-4 works. The dmg from shards is Tusk's most reliable damage and with the CD reduction going down to 12 it's his most re-usable skill early on. 18 -> 12 feels pretty important to having a Tusk that's able to keep doing stuff after the first combo.

yea but in the end without super clutch snowball usage, you'd rather have like a veno if you don't need the stuns and lion if you do... or an ogre for a fatass that runs at you... so p6's point stands? bulkiness isn't a huge factor on supports anyway

Maybe, but my point was sort of Tusk could be cool except the scaling. If 1-4-4 or 4-1-4 was more viable (or something changed with sigil) he'd have something unique to offer with snowballs saves & initiations, shard area denial, and sigil's ability to aggressively catch people out of position.
EDIT Or maybe it's all fine and you could just like give him Ogre Magi's hp regen and things would work out. Who knows.

cold feet level 1 in a tri on tri okay
tusk would be cool if he could snowball to his sigil

If you could somehow control the way shards "faced" when you used them would be a pretty big buff. Right now to use them to maximum effect and not block your fellow team mates, you need to be almost in a face off with the enemy hero.
|
how would you do that without a clunky interface
what if your snowball stopped at your shards

Tusk is one of those heroes that likes to have max points in all of his skills, but doesn't do enough with the points to make it worth the investment. I guess if he gets a good start, then it works, but he is probably one of the least useful 3s that you can pick, and he's pretty bad as a straight support.
Snowball also can really fuck over your team. I really think that is his worst skill as the best chance to use it is after an already won teamfight.

an ability that clumps ur own team and puts them at a predictable location is always gonna be suspect.
very powerful, but suspect.

If only your team mates could bail out of snowball along the way. Or jump in along the way. God what a train wreck that would be.

Agreed, but early game it's much less suspect, and late game you use the snowball in the middle of the fight to save allies, not bring them in. A skill that punishes poor players and rewards good ones, count me in!

Tusk is one of the most fun heroes to play if you know you're a good deal better then your opponents though.

The ability would be considerably more useful without all the gimmicky stuff of 'you can put other people in it!!!!' Just make it simple. You charge the snowball with only Tusk in it, longer charge time means faster ball and longer stun. Same way of moving as now, same synergy with all of his skills, less chance of stupid disaster happening.
Like I can't ever see a reason I would want to get me and 2 buddies in a sub 100 aoe hurling at an enemy if I could do the same with just me. That would at least make it useful IMO.

Because your buddies are invulnerable when inside the snowball meaning that that stunned carry standing next to you won't get blown up.
|
being able to suck people into it is nice. a 4.5(?) second invuln is pretty dang valuable
dont make the stun scale with time, just give it a decent base stun time instead of this .25 sec per level shit

What if snowball could be stopped during the roll, and people could get out as well? Maybe even a slow the snowball targets that scales , kind of like adding frozen sigil in. Then maybe replace sigil with a passive aoe where people trying to attack or use a spell in a 600 range have a 25% chance to take their attack or spell back at 75/100/125/150% power. Only the damage would reflect, and the main target would still be hit for the normal damage and debuffs. He could have a better initiating role where he forces the enemy to split up, kill him immediately, or use lots of healing to fight him.

Its like a 3 man blink dagger. You, your buddy Bane and Lion all roll up on the safe lane carry and smash through the trees into them. Then you kill the support protecting the carry because you guys are just that awesome. Except it never really goes that way, but its nice in theory.
It would be better if the speed was only based on charge time, rather than number of hero. You are right on that one.

i mean its like tiny's toss it gets ur centaur or slardar next to them at level 1 but that doesn't make the combo viable just hilarious.

That and/or don't have the speed based of Tusk's movement speed which makes it really wonky. I don't see why it shouldn't just have a base movespeed of 350 or 400 or something. Since it's tied to your movement speed you're sort of encouraged into items that boost movement speed, but those aren't necessarily the items you're interested in as a support.
At the very least you could have it be "150% of the fastest unit inside the snowball" which would work great in the current meta with the popularity of movespeed items.
