For example the first maps of GG vs. Tundra or TS vs Entity ... such a back and forth! Get the VODs!

Tundra playing with two stand-ins against GG. Nightfall and Topson replaced skiter and nine who both were sick yesterday. Nightfall remembering everybody that he is playing Pos3 voluntarily...what a beast performance as carry in both games. Holy shit.

I still play in 1-2 month spurts whenever I have some downtime from other games that I play. The game is still really fun if you just play with a decent 5-stack and stay far away from solo ranked.
Sometime last year I was thinking of trying to grind my way back to 6k (or at least Immortal), and I think I quit after like 15-20 games. The community is just way too toxic, and I'm too old to care about babysitting people these days.

Oh shit, hey Unleashing, heya Bluemoon (I feel like I've seen you playing a lot of PoE? I was playing a lot of PoE for a while).
A life update for me is: I quit my fancy job at the end of last year after grinding pretty hard for ~7 years and am taking a year or two to relax and maybe eventually try to make a game. Chilling in New York with no responsibilities turns out to be pretty fun!

I wonder, does NY feel any different being able to choose when and where to go, compared to how it felt working like 12h/day?

I think Emu plays a bunch too - it gives me that level of complexity itch without locking me into my seat for an hour uninterrupted. Being able to "pause" has become more important to me as I've gotten older.
That's sick that you're able to take significant time off after working so hard!

hey there unleashing and bluemoon, hope you guys have been well

Yea I go really hard for 1-2 leagues, then take 1-2 off usually depending on how I'm balancing work and/or other games. For me POE is the game that satisfies my itch to go extremely hard in a game like the old days, and the itch doesn't last nearly long enough to have a negative impact on IRL stuff. And also like you, I just like the complexity it offers. I tend to spend half my time in POB instead of the actual game.
@eieio Grats on the 1-2 year break. I know you definitely put in the work to deserve it. If you ever do end up making a game I'd love to give some input or at least just hear about what you're working on

I've got a lot more time to do it . It's a little funny that just cause of like, getting around, I'm not doing as many different things in a day as I might have expected, so far the city doesn't feel that different but I am definitely spending a lot more time doing things I want to do. Also it's only been a few weeks so like, we'll see in another six months.
I'll definitely let this thread know if I end up making any game stuff worth looking at :D
Bluemoon / Emu totally here you there - agree that PoE is well suited to *totally* immersing yourself for a bit but with the ability to step away pretty easily. I spent the first 2 weeks of the year basically just playing PoE till I got sick of it lol.

between POE and climbing you've got yourself a nice setup while you're taking time off.
I haven't been able to climb in almost a year between COVID and a shoulder injury TT

I'm almost 27 and I'm having my first coffee date/hangout with a (queer) cis guy ever on Wednesday, all because I took the train to a concert instead of driving and met him on the ride back. Can't have that in the US lol

Now i feel bad for not going to the Lima Major.
But i have to spend a lot of money this year so i couldn't support doing all that.
Hopefully next year we see another SA major.
