I as many others with me I guess hoped Grant had changed, but this is inexcusable. It's sad he's blaming it on his alcohol problem. Speaking as someone with previous problems with alcohol, I didn't go out and harass women (or worse) when I drank, sure everyone is different, but alcohol really isn't an excuse for shitty behaviour. Definitly not for repeated shitty behaviour, which seems to be the case here.
Ehh I don't think it's fair to say he's blaming it on his alcohol problem. Check the dude's twitter before you get out your pitchfork - he's apologizing openly and not verbally shirking responsibility. Not saying anyone should forgive him for what he's done, just pointing out that he's not saying that either, as far as I can tell.

From Grant on Reddit: "Ive always been a redditor and wont lie, so I will post here. Another Apology to the people ive hurt along the way and also. I also wanted to say if you ever do have a Alcohol problem, Find someone who can help you out, I struggled for 5 years (when I say struggled I mean 3 bottles of vodka a day) and had no one to help me. If you ever find yourself going down that path, Find a loved one or anyone you can.
Sorry once again, Dota deserves better."
While not exactly just blaming his alcohol problem, I think you can see where I am comming from. Don't know why else he would bring it up. I guess I should have added it to my original post for clarity. For clarities sake, I would also have considered myself a fan of Grant before this shit so it's extra disappointing.

Im a big Grant fan and I find the alcohol excuse a bit BS. It seems to be the headliner for all his problems, sure Ive seen his streams where he literally blacks out due to drinking (this goes WAY back). But the story where he calculatingly rapes the anon girl through drugs is something you cant use the alcohol excuse on as a defense.
These words Im typing seems unreal. I never liked Grant from the start (he originally banned me in Korok's chat in HoN days). But his rise in NA Dota 2 as a caster was endearing to watch. I grew very proud of him and what he was able to accomplish. All this news just makes me so incredibly disappointed in him.

Yeah, I hear you. It's super disappointing to hear about this, but I'm also glad its out and is stirring some shit up. Things like these do happen in the shadows and it's disgusting and terrible - glad it isn't staying in the shadows, even if it means we all have to now face these disgusting and terrible things.

Ah jeez, I feel like in the last 24 hours everything has blown up about my favourite scene.
I won't lie, I really liked watching Grant recently because I knew (or thought I did) how fucked up things were with him back in the day and it seemed like he was redeeming himself. These stories are obviously worse than anything I knew, and they make me sad. He does seem truly apologetic, but these mistakes will stick with you forever. The same way they will probably stick with the victims. Leaving the scene is the right move, and I hope he reflects on his mistakes. I hope the women get closure.
I've only read commentary on Zyori's incident rather than watch/read the actual allegations. From what I've read it just seems like poor communication, Zyori falling victim to a woman with job aspirations who then regretted what she did. It doesn't sound like Zyori held his power or presence over her...yet. If anything from that I have a poor opinion of the woman rather than Zyori; you're all adults, own your mistakes.
I also like RedEye as a commentator so am sad to see the allegations that he is basically a bully. Still early for this as far as I can tell...

Anyway I'll create a separate thread for this because this probably warrants one.
edit: I don't have the time to dig out all the allegations and various tweets so I can't do this now, but if someone else wants to start one feel free.

After trying to process all that happened in these past hours/day, it all seems a bit more clear, like the writings were on the wall all the time and we, the community, never realized it was happening... not blaming us since there's so much we can do tho
Now that i think about it, it happens in real sports, it was 100% gonna happen in a more secluded world like esports...
Man, no wonder Llamadownunder dissapeared in an instant, she wasn't anything special but she was still a decent commentator overall and with time and practice she could have become something

The fact that he's already gone through a civil lawsuit tells you that there very probably won't be any criminal charges (at least for that incident)

honestly if even half of the things ive been told/heard through the years are true this only scratches the surface
wonder just how much will get posted and how long itll be a hot topic for

Hey, guys. I'm writing from another thread, I need your help.

We are doing a service here for eSports Analytics and have just finished working on the live mode. All the classics, the schedule of golds, time, but we also have win rates of specific players on specifically peaked heroes, Oh, and the schedule is built without delay.
magma.gg - our child.
If you are interested, look at the service, you can write what you liked and what you didn't.

man, I know this is always how it goes but fact that people know about harassment allegations and don't do anything just always bums me out.

because the reality is if you say or do anything that even remotely goes against someone that's popular, you get witch hunted and hated
I definitely wouldn't

And who knows what skeletons other people have in their closets.
And like, even if you are by all accounts an alright person that has done nothing wrong, speaking up can be hard since there is always the possibility that you will end up a hypocrite in public if someone didn't view an interaction/event with you in the same way you did. Maybe something that you thought was harmless fun wasn't for someone else and they call you out for it, I could see why people would be hesitant.

I feel like you have to take the victim(s) and their feelings about going public into consideration, which can create tricky situations. But yeah, you're right.

The llama civil lawsuit had nothing to do with sexual harassment. That was more workplace harassment and defamation.
It is a longshot, but I think there's a universe in which Grant ends up in prison. An exemplary case of the MeToo: esports edition. Kind of like Weinstein during the first season.
