1: Low mana cost so it can be sustained for ages. 2: With unstable current you'll outspeed them and be able to stick close to steal as much damage as possible. 3: With the stolen damage they can't enter lane and can barely last-hit while your last hits are so much easier.
Opinions? I've gone static + stats many times in lanes against melee. Works fine.

Opinions? early link isn't uncommon depending on the opposing team but it's usually wave + link, and in mid u only need like 3 seconds of link every now and then to get every lasthit

after ready next part is choosing sides, and first pick, only then the drafting starts. But you get a message to do something so I doubt you could have missed that.
^the static link reminded me:
if I go mid with Brewmaster against invoker, or some similar, strong ranged laner, I like to take drunken haze on lvl2 and "harass with it", meaning I cast it on the hero when a couple of creeps are on low life so i have a chance to get the lasthit/deny. Its only 50 mana, and 45% miss chance already on lvl1. I use it to get early last hits (before lvl2-3 clap) and later its awesome against something like cold snap or viper's orb. I'm just curious how viable you guys think it is? Generally in my experience even if people take it early, they don't use it for laning.

Razor's nuke skill is very strong in early so i wouldnt leave it out, just time the circle it hits very hard especially to support hero. Whenever i see a NS picker = Razor time. Get at least 1 level of link and trololol at him when he comes gank at night.

Even against midgame heroes it seems like tower gold would be a huge buffer during their peak lethality. That's assuming they themselves had great laning phases which should reasonably come at the cost of the rest of the team.
I get it if item stacked qop and ck push fights all the time versus item mediocre dk/sylla, it won't be great, but reasonably dk/sylla should have support items buffing their teamfight unless they got stuffed completely at the towers.
Edit: I just think it is tough to call heroes like Sk, Ck and venge who want kills to get things done. Especially against a pulling solo or push squads that group up. Might be an interesting game to try considering the relative difficulty and importance of laning well for both teams in this circumstance.
Getting a tower or two doesn't equate to creating space if you have no ability to maintain that space after the laning phase. That Dire team has no ability to fight midgame vs the radiant lineup so even if they do have an advantage from laning phase it has to be a huge advantage to allow Sylla/DK space to farm. Without that huge advantage the radiant team can just force the issue constantly resulting in the Dire team getting rolled in midgame.
If say it was a panda instead of a DK then possibly the panda would have had enough midgame presence to allow the map control to be held through mid game without a huge early game advantage. A DK can be really strong but the kind of strength required for the lineup to create space is just too much. In fact if you had panda instead of DK that lineup would be almost like what mTw have been running last few days to streamroll teams. Panda mid, Sylla solo lane then Veno/Enchant/X(I can't remember).
I think your issue is you have a idea in your head of how things work but instead of thinking outside of that idea you try fit everything to that lone idea. I don't really understand how you can argue with Yango on this.

Q: Dear Sunsfan, can you please post a video revealing how the matchmaking system works? Does it match players according to winning rate, consecutive wins, or number of wins over losses???? I'm sure we all want to know that. Please thumb me up so he can see it. Thanks!!!
A: ok ill explain it to you: you start with 1 russian in your team, if you win this game you start with 2 to have increased difficulty, and so on, because we all know russians suck and feed like hell

Me and 1 of my friends have been playing a lot of Dota2 together, trying out many different lane combos, some successful some less so.
We have now begun trying solo lane + forest combo, but aren't sure of what heroes are good solo laners.
We know some like Windrunner and Lich and a few others, and we have tried a couple that wasn't very successful.
So, what do you guys think are good solo laner heroes

Depends on what you're trying to do. Are you wanting to solo the short lane or the long lane?
If you're sending an offensive dual lane to the hard lane and a solo to the short lane it's better to get someone who can actually help get kills if the jungler you've picked is someone who can come out and be useful. Then someone like QOP is far superior to Syllabear...but it really depends on lineup.
This is probably more in depth than you meant but when you pick the solo you have to look at a number of factors:
What role are they playing on your team, in your team makeup. Are they going to gank or farm Can/do you want them to kill things with your jungler Can your jungler push towers And of course what heros do your opponents have?
If you want to pose some theoretical lineups I can give my own opinion on what to pick, but in general some solos that can do well are:
Broodmother Weaver Windrunner Puck QOP Venomancer (no escape, don't send him vs a heavy disable lane, but very strong 1v1 short vs long) Syllabear (same as veno) Mirana Clinkz Enigma Sand King Beastmaster Lich
I'm sure you can figure out when certain heros are better than others. You can see a general theme; the heros either have strong lane control, strong escape mecahnisms, or something similar. In the case of someone like beastmaster you're sending them there for a (hopefully) fast solo exp 6 and then using hawk and ult to gank.
