itll probably come out thursday

There's a korean nexon competition where you have to guess Korean techies names. The deadline to submit them is friday night, so the update is probably not coming sooner than that.

I know you love Chinese Dota, but you can't possibly be serious, rolf. :D :D TI3 finals went to 5 games with a baserace at the end of the last game, had awesome stuff not seen before in the tournament (wisp mid, for example) and most importantly it wasn't a 4 game 20 minute roflstomp with pretty much the same deathball all 4 games.

Just try being the tiniest bit objective.

Not in terms of the finals, but throughout the entire event

He's talking about overall quality of the entire tournament, which was indeed better than TI3.

I think everyone response really goes to show the power of the last, nail biter game. As long as the event finishes on a high note, everyone loves it. If its a blow out, everyone curses the event, Valve and Icefrog for failing to catch lightning in a bottle twice.

It's crap too, because the vast majority of the games leading up to that were literally some of the best games of any tournament. Each series seemed to have players and teams stepping it up and improving on their play in almost every area. The EG vs Newbee series was exceptionally good (excluding game 3) and both sides really showed potential to have another good match if they played again. I really wish that EG had been able to make it, but unfortunately they couldn't stop VG.

The entire event yeah, I agree. I think the format this year was much better, which helped a ton.

The first 4 games of TI 3 finals were way better than TI4 finals. Tons of cool picks and new stuff, carry venge in the first game, mid wisp, bulldog's unbanned bear, Ogre picked for the first time in the entire event in the third game, Nightstalker was also picked for like only the third time in the fourth game. And the games were pretty close, only game 1 and 2 were stomps comparable to Newbee vs VG.

That amazing C9 meepo buy back play was one of the most amazing plays I have seen in dota and it is so under rated. I went from "WTF really?" to "Holy shit they are doing this" in under a minute.

Those EG games were great too. I just wish they had not gotten so shut down in that last game, but shit like that happens at high level games.(or pub games, really)

No games weren't pretty close, in all first 4 games winner was known around 15 minutes mark at most, and 5th game was only entertaining because neither team played well.
And about TI2 buildup, during TI4 NewBee storyline is very simillar to NaVi from TI2 except they won.

People care about storylines. Nobody minds Navi vs Alliance had 4 awful games because it made for a great plot, with a nailbiting final game to send it home.

TI4 was just fan favorite teams getting eliminated left and right until we got 2 teams that the vast majority didn't care or rooted for, who then proceeded to play 4 boring games. 5 million dollars was too much money for either of them to try anything new or risky, appearently.

anyone remember C9's games vs...VG was it? First game was good, but C9 lost. Things looked dire, and then they came back the next day in game 2, elmination in sight...to pick MEEPO. HOLY FUCKING SHIT RIGHT? that game just might have been the best game in TI4, with the glorious lose rax bait into teamwipe VG into take all their raxes, while Clock blocks VG's fountain. I remember being blown out of my fucking mind, I was estatic

and then 5 minutes later C9 did the most obvious level 1 rosh in existance and everyone jumped ship and chose to forget the series ever happened

I don't even care about the fan favorite part, but it took 3 series and one day for NB to get into the finals.

Great story.

They definitely could have won, they just got outplayed in the last half of the game.

To be fair NB bubble-raced themselves from a playoff to avoid elimination all the way to the upper bracket and eventually the grand finals.

If they were C9/Alliance/EG the fans would have been jizzing themselves over the sick storyline.

It was a great story there, but honestly the main event should be where the stories are made - not on the online portion.
