I just don't want to deal with that shit, I don't want to look up which fucking rune I should use with which hero or something like that before even starting the game. Funny, because the rune / mastery system was actually one the bigger reasons why I decided to play LoL over Dota 2. (Note, being Swedish I was massively into Dota 1, and I do play Dota 2 still with my RL friends and follow the e-sports side of it all, but play LoL way more.) So you don't like thinking too much? Well that's your prerogative. I personally really like the rune system because it allows me to build the hero MY way and theorycraft (people are still coming up new ways to optimize rune pages years later, and as long as they keep nerfing and buffing, it probably will never stop). And while it's true that most players use standard rune pages for most things, pros and high elo players such as myself do have numerous customized rune pages for different matchups, teamcomps and playstyles. Oh and, I've never paid for anything apart from skins. It's essentially adds an extra dimension to the game that is completely non-existent in Dota. Also, there is a certain charm in the fact that you can play your signature hero and build that said hero YOUR way. (Including Masteries, Runes and in-game build path.) Hell, some people go even crazier and pick non-standard summoners. While it's true that it can take time for you to have every single rune and it would be great if we had all runes available to us at start (but alas, this makes Riot too much money for that), Tier 1 runes which are super cheap will do just fine until you can get more standard rune pages that work great in most scenarios (which also allow you to be competitive), and then you build from there. I don't understand why the people in this sub need to negatively over exaggerate everything that is LoL. There are pros and cons to the rune / mastery system, in my opinion, the depth, complexity and fun they add to the game, is more than worth the downsides.

I don't like thinking and I'm retarded. Thanks, buddy. I'm sorry if my post offended you, I didn't think anybody would take it so seriously. I don't have anything against league players, if you like LoL more than DotA, more power to you, play what you enjoy.

He himself said this: ''I just don't want to deal with that shit, I don't want to look up which fucking rune I should use with which hero or something like that before even starting the game.'' He obviously is not interested in thinking about the runes that would be optimal, heck, he's too lazy to even Google for some advice. Thus I took a jab at him. Clear enough for you? You don't like thinking either? And yes, I do consider LiquidDota to be a sub, might not be the correct term for it, but that's what it feels like to me. Same with LiquidHearth and LiquidPoker.

Or maybe it's about thinking the system is nothing but a grind-sink and he doesn't think the system adds anything to the game? What a crazy idea! It has fuckall to do with not liking thinking and more to do with thinking the system is trash. I don't think it adds anything to the game, you do, great! We have different opinions that have nothing to do with people not liking to think. Unlocking champions and runes is to me awful ways to do a game, and reasons why i only play LoL when a friend asks me to do so, because i think the game on its own is a grind-sink and not fun. Doesn't mean others aren't allowed to like it, lol. I have nothing against people that like the rune system or LoL in general. But no, let's tell people they don't like thinking because they don't like the rune system.

Son, you’ve come to the wrong place to argue about LoL or its systems. Or if you are going to do that, take a page out of my book and don’t take lazy shots at people while you do. No one wants this dumb tribal warfare highschool kids seems to love about video games. No one gives a shit if Xbox/PS4 or LoL/Dota are winning/losing or better/worse. Its all fucking stupid and we should just be happy that we all have games we like to play. And now to other things, anyone going to get “Gods Will Be Watching”. That game looks like it could be amazing and the free to play prototype was pretty gritty.

At slightly above 4.3k MMR I've been noticing that the skill difference between players with more or less the same rating is often way to big. I've looked over different people's profiles on dotabuff and I've realized that there are often 3 types of people in my matches. Firstly there are people with about 53% win ratio and over 3000 games played. Their skill is stable and they usually don't stand out in a good or bad way. And than there are players who have less than 500 games played with over 60% win ratio, who are when you check their latest matches normally on a winning streaks and who perform outstandingly and then there are often players with under 150 matches played who somehow got 4.3k MMR and now they got around 40% win ratio and in latest matches you can see they lost almost all of them. That leads me to conclusion, that players with small amount of matches played are often misplaced in a wrong '''mmr group''. I'm not saying that the current system is bad and it should be changed at all cost, but I think it could be improved if players with little number of games played and players on winning/losing streaks would change mmr faster. I know that first dozens matches your mmr changes rapidly, but with huge mmr deflation, bad punishing system for game ruiners and abandoners I don't think it's enough to place you at a proper MMR rating. /discuss? Skill is a funny thing, im around that mmr and it has a lot of "specialists"(I am one), people that are good at handful of heroes or have a method of winning games that works quite a bit. Take for example me, i play basically lone druid/chen/enigma/enchant/visage/naga/troll at that level, but the instant i have to play a hero like shadow shaman/ rubick/ qop it's like playing with a moron on your team. And i think a lot of players are like that around that level, i think that around that level that's the cutoff for many types of skills to stop carrying you to victory also. You can have really good lane fundamentals and just dominate lane/ you can have really good farming and win alot of games. I know a guy who is awful and is 4.3k mmr because he has his jungle lycan down to a fucking science with a 75 percent winrate, but i can trash him mid and he is straight up 2k mmr at support. In dota there are a lot of ways to win games, ganking, pushing, farming, and they don't require you to understand many other parts of the game to win games. That is my take on it.

There are pros and cons to the rune / mastery system, in my opinion, the depth, complexity and fun they add to the game, is more than worth the downsides. Well I played quite a bit of LoL, almost 2 years, forced by filthy casual friends, and when I started to take runes seriously I realized that buying a new page cost 6300 IP (if I remember correctly). Then I thought, what a joke, I'm already struggling to unlock champions and now to profit some "depth" there are more to grind / pay ? And that was it for me, not like rune was an exciting part of the game to begin with, but you can't even fully use it. It's probably what most people are complaining about, the pseudo depth you get from runes is more of another grind system. This is hard to understand for us spoiled gamers where we have a pay nothing, get everything game.
