Guys, why isn't it the all star match yet?
Everything else is great and all... but I need the all star match.

Aye, after matches. About 5AM CEST though, so there's that.
eSports does need television though. Unless we're prepared to stagnate until other sports move fully into online broadcasting. What the fuck is wrong with people these days?

no the blog about how retarded people are that do shit for the sake of esports

Having eSports on television only hastens its acceptance. It's not needed but its good to have.
Need in view of growth of a subculture is too strong of a word to use on any level or argument.

why would i care about acceptance of who

You don't, businesses do.

What DIGITALSPORTS need is to not require people to quit their job to watch it fulltime. Yesterday the broadcast was almost 10 hours, lol. No way that format is getting mainstream ever.

We either get 10 hours a day or online tournaments with little weight to them. Only Riot can afford to have teams on lan for long periods of time

But why does business need esports? Why does it have to go mainstream?

Pretty much this. There's almost no chance of it getting legitimate time on television just due to the amount of time they would have to invest into it in order to show it all. Television is for people that can't watch one thing for too long. Remember that 3 hours is the 'max' run time for most movies.
Having a tournament with 10+ hour days air on TV, and on top of that games that can last an hour without a break is really bad for that.
Also consider that unlike many sports Dota isn't played with a time limit. Single games can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 90 minutes. This makes creating a schedule very difficult as you would constantly either have to fill time with extra content or cut out time from other things so you could keep on schedule.
Overall it's a nightmare for any traditional production.

We really don't need this sort of money, even (or especially) on a yearly basis. I don't see how the bad sides outweigh the good ones, especially when it's the fans that seem to be the most outspoken about all things eSports and when the cash has proven itself to not guarantee any sort of high quality games... I mean, if you are looking for all the flashy shows you are used to see surrounding traditional sports, why not just go watch the existing ones? Combining the two might seem like a dream to some, but it's not gonna be anywhere close to what people imagine the result to be.

It's completely unrealistic to expect that an MLG or Dreamhack could make similar numbers with what they have access to right now. Sustainability over time is going to rely on sponsorships and marketability as much as the tools that valve gives in game.

There are a lot of sports which are on TV that are broadcast basically all day during big tournaments.
F-1, snooker, tennis.
