Weaver is so weird it only really saw play from 6.68 until 6.68c in conjunction with treant. Then almost nothing until group stage of TI3. Why isn't Leshrac getting more play now anyways? Weaver saw a ton of play with and without Treant.
He excels in games centered around split push, being so hard to kill and powerful in small skirmishes, hence he was picked a lot when split push strats were the norm.
New patch, teams are playing push strats that involve grouping up, summons, aoe, multiple necrobooks, etc. Weaver isn't particularly useful in this kind of style compared to other carries. Big reason why Weaver's disappearing and a hero like Luna who excels in pushing and team fighting is becoming a top tier carry.

Post-patch I'm too bad to have an opinion, but anecdotally, the BAT nerf was brutal.
In theory it shouldn't be a big deal, because he should just be cycling shukuchi into geminate anyway, but in practice there are so many instances where an extra autoattack that little bit faster would have secured a kill. It feels so painful.
Biggest nerf to weaver is that laning is way harder now. You simply can't be nearly as aggressive because one set of wards can zone you out for 8 minutes now.

Some decent news regarding the tweet by Fear after the finals loss against Empire.

So they are changing roles again. Fear carry again?

Off the top of my head, Fear to carry, MSS to 4, Jeyo to mid? Might work? Maybe?
Or maybe it's just changes in the training and in the drafting.

Good point. "Major changes" would indicate something bigger though. Well, glad they are sticking together tho.

It will probably be that. Honestly don't think that would solve all their troubles though.

Honestly, I think Mirana just doens't do great in the position one role, she's more of a 2-3 priority
Then again, after many games of buying Manta and feeling horribly ineffective, I think Linkens is a better choice

What makes you think Linkens would make you more effective than Manta? If anything it's the worse choice.
|
Because it gives way more survival than Manta does, gives Mirana even MORE utility as of 6.79, and gives her much needed mana pool and mana regen
The real draw to Manta is the extra MS, but honestly, Linkens isn't that much worse in sheer DPS.
Its like Weaver, Linkens may give less damage, but it makes you harder to catch, and lets you spam spells

linkens is a farming item don't upgrade yasha into manta unless you already have a couple big items

>linkens is a farming item
What.

Well... from the eSports Hero documentary about EG Starcraft, the players were responsible for doing chores, cooking and paying rent. Assuming it's the same for the Dota 2 division in their house, maybe the 'major changes' are that they've hired a housekeeping service the way the SC2 team did, and have a curfew or something.
Or maybe they're making plans to stay with [A] for a while. Of course, this is all completely wild speculation and the timing makes me think it's either disciplinary - curfew, set training hours, set training schedule - or a role change.

For a lot of heroes linkens IS a farming item. See heroes like morphling and medusa, they get linkens to farm up other items, not to fight.

What.
Mirana needs mana to flash-farm, so the mana regen from Linken's makes a pretty big difference in a way that it doesn't for, say, Gyro.

it's the same reason you might go linkens first on morph or qop or storm so you can spam spells to kill creeps and solo push lanes

Even for a hero like Weaver that can be incredibly aggressive, Linkens is still considered a farming item. You don't get Linkens if you want to fight early, you get it if you have good easy uncontested farm and can quickly get a second more-aggressive item before fights.

You get linkens so you don't die if someone happens to glance at you and throw some cc -.-
the fact that it speeds your farm is completely secondary to how the enhanced survival allows you to skirmish about 10x better, especially with the high early impact of both weaver and Mirana. You can get a lot more done in those fights when you can throw more spells, and are less likely to get locked down.
And compared to Manta for that purpose, its better for fighting AND farming

If you get Linkens first people are just going to ignore you in fights because you don't do any damage anyway. This issue is slightly less of a problem on PotM since her spells are good early but the point still stands. If you want to fight early get something more useful than a Linkens.

It is, actually. The two illusions hitting stuff can be quite a bit of deeps, depending on what smaller items you got before.
