It's an amazing item for farming + sustain. the thing is that she isn't a hero designed around farming. look at her skills. she was designed to pick heroes off and fight early in skirmishes. for heaven's sake, it's in her name: she's an assassin. battlefury build instead chooses to take her crit and build a hero around that. it's not like that's inherently bad, but a lot of people think that it's a waste of a lot of her early ganking potential to sit in lane for 15 minutes ricing it up and then get ready to start farming up your helm and bkb and then maybe start fighting when at 15 minutes you could have bkb and you could start forcing fights because at level 11 or so she does a lot of damage, takes very little in return with bkb and blur, and is extremely hard to stop. I view it like I would view Tiny, but as a less-extreme case. There's the ganking build with blink and arcanes and then there's the carry build with phase drums yasha etc. and based on the game you're in, either one could be better than the other and it's never a rule that you should always go ganking tiny or carry tiny. hard and fast rules are generally simplifications of a much more complex situation.

Thanks I'm 1-5 with PA right now doing the BFury buildup, so I think it means I should try something else. Though the losses aren't strictly because of me, but I'm sure it helps if I can fight much earlier.

So i listened to 2GD's recent grilled interview and he brings up a lot of good points about how Valve's approach to creating a story line for TI3 could have been done better.
The topic is still being digested in my head so i might not make much sense but I guess my best way of explaining it is that you can see why Valve creating a platform in which tournament organizes can be supported without Valve having to directly intervene aside from managing the tickets can ultimately be a good sustaining way for the DotA 2 to grow as a scene. Other tournaments events stepping up to the plate can only make the International better because people that are into this sort of stuff are usually in it for team or player's story line and how they got there and you can see the International being this penultimate conclusion to what I would begrudgingly call a season.
You know like I think right now, the way Valve is presents DotA 2 as a "service" is a lot more visible now than it ever was before. I think the documentary will add a lot to the whole visibility thing also.

Also BFURY is awesome for farming, but does nothing to help you survive. (you still melt in teamfights)
Usually its used to ramp up your farm into another item (BKB) and then you can start picking fights.
Also if you are getting completely wrecked you may want to alter your item build.

Vanguard Vlads Basher.

mantastyle is the best item for am, not sure why you would pass it. As for PA i usually go (midas)drums/vlads/bkb. And PA is the scariest 6slots carry. She can two shots anyone at that point.

Manta is just so good on AM that you can't pass it up. It's still like 20min before you can fight, pretty close to when Bfury Yasha lets you fight. Maybe Midas will speed that up and keep you from getting fucked when you've spent your time fighting instead of farming. Also gives you levels so you have more stats. Second build is just the Spec fightan build on a worse hero for Spec play, minus the Diffusal. Pretty much, it's bad. AM is just so much better with Bfury. You're not going to make him fight well before the 30 minute mark. The only other option I can think about is one level Blink, max Mana Break, max Spell Shield, into Treads Vanguard. You make yourself very difficult to kill and just go hit things and give them no mana. Maybe you build into Linkin's so they can't disable you easily and get more bulk and regen. Have fun, you are now the Tanki-mage.

Wasn't the old AM build Phase Vanguard Manta
Also Midas is pretty good on PA. I'd do something like Midas Phase Bracer/Drums BKB Basher

I remember doing a Vanguard first build something like four years ago. It won more than it ought to have.
