He is one of the greatest farmers in the early to mid game (on the same level as sf for example), his split push once BoT is obtained is the highest in the game. Like meepo can have lvl 12 at 12 min with dagger aghs treads if farm is secured. At that point his teamfight potential goes through the roof.

If left unchecked, he reaches endgame items and levels very quickly. His nukes hurt more than people think and if the other team lacks burst mid game, he can take 1 or 2 supports out pretty quickly by himself and just snowball out of control. This hero has been played competitively before in Dota 1, people laughed at it, then he turned out to be on that Invoker tier of if the other team can play it, we ban it. IIRC, he was nerfed after that. Now, he's been slowly creeping up again.
Now obviously Dota 2 meta isn't the same as it was back then, but I have watched this exact discussion regarding the viability of hero X in role Y played out many times on forums, until a team decides to break the meta with a previously dismissed notion.
Just to list some of more recent ones of where general consensus turned out to be not so true, NS solo mid was laughed at, AM as a carry was laughed at, Gyro as a carry was laughed at. So who knows until teams get it out in a real tournament setting?
Edit:
Shit, Dendi's first mark on competitive DotA was his pairing of (the original) Bloodstone on previously untouched heroes like Storm and Krobelus. Then pairing that with heroes like KotL. Yep, one of the most exciting players in DotA is at least partially responsible for one of the most boring.

That's because SF is usually mid, and Meepo is usually in the safe lane. You can pick your line up with that in mind. Look, you guys can theorycraft all you want about shutting off Meepo, but that argument was made for AM also (shit lane presence, doesn't do anything till items, etc.). This is on top of the fact that Meepo recovers better than AM or SF. Does the hero place a strain on the line up? Sure, but so does any true carry that needs any combination of farm/levels/items.

Sure, but so does any true carry that needs any combination of farm/levels/items. a decent aggressive tri is so strong against shutting meepo, a hero that is absolutely reliant on getting level 6 asap. how do you guarantee those levels when meepo can't play well on a defensive tri as well an am? you can even guarantee some sort of safety for a SF whereas revolving your entire draft to protect a meepo is probably essential as of right now. You have to draft around the meepo to protect him and make him work, whereas you have much more leeway with other carries with how you can do things. no one needs to theorycraft to tell you this.
h4nn1 : "No we're definitely not going to see a meepo on our important matches" sort of speaks to how unreliable meepo is in comparison to SF and AM being picked rather frequently (even banned)

He doesn't have any parts of his model set up to be replaced with items, like Gyro, Lifestealer, and Luna. You can check which heroes are un-itemable like this by seeing if they have a magnifying glass in the bottom right corner of their portrait ingame. If not, no items. Ah, thanks for the help! But makes me sad

So I had a game where our throne was dying and then at about 20 HP, the game just disconnected me (auto disconnect top right countdown appeared). Anyway my internet was working that whole time... So I tried to reconnect but it said game not found anymore or something.
Bottom line is, the game didn't appear on my history at all. No sign of it even occurring. Didn't get a loss either. I mean it's great and all that I didn't get the loss for it, but was imagining how frustrating it could be if you're the winning end of it. That game was almost an hour long too and a close game at that.
Common issue nowadays?

Nah, it's not common. It happens very rarely.

Is soul ring standard for PL when you don't have CM/KotL (or any mana early-game givers) in your lineup?

Soul ring is trash on PL honestly.

Don't you need tranquils for laning anyway?

it's a known bug and/or the server fucks up. I've gotten disappearing games, auto wins and auto losses.

Lmao. How do you reach that conclusion? You're one of those _always out of mana_ hardcarry PL types in the pubs. Someone comes to gank and you can't pop the hero because you're rushing your relic/manta or whatever. As far as I see it, even with a kotl, soul ring can in many circumstances guarantee you an early kill in addition to marking you as an additional threat (no one is truly afraid of a PL that has no mana, plus he's a more promising target than someone who's got the mana for escape). Hence, soulring is not a trash item on PL and it synergizes extremely well with tranquil boots in your buildup to lategame items.

tranquil boots are bad on phantom lancer
ok

and also again going back to the free lane thing, power treads is ideal not tranquil.
