That said, my candidate is Pudge, as he has had almost no success outside of being played by Dendi, where suddenly he does really really well. Sure anyone and their grandma can land hooks with pudge in high queue and feel, wow what an easy dude, but at professional level? There's only one guy known for it. Pudge's skill cap is infinite as it primarily relies on mind games and understanding of your opponents.

Pudge's skill cap is infinite as it primarily relies on mind games and understanding of your opponents. That level of mind gaming is far from exclusive to Pudge even though the design of the hero makes the whole aspect easily apparent to people watching. My problem with Pudge having an infinite skill cap is how dependent he is on gaining an advantage. If Pudge were to fall behind, hook easily becomes a double edged sword. You either show dominance or getting being dominated, there isn't an in between.

I don't know if i'd argue whether puppey has a better chen than akke but given that both players live up to their reputation in terms of playing their signature heroes you can only expect them to play it right.

Doesn't the fact that almost nobody (notail comes very close) can play meepo at high level makes the hero really hard? And realistically, meepo can be played competitively, why wouldn't he be?

Easy to shut down/gank As good as his strengths are, he's still.too easily abused to be picked. Maybe if he didn't have such weak base damage he could be played comfortably in a 1v1 matchup.

Because teams don't like taking chances, some times they work out like Meepo, some times they fall flat on their face like Viper. It's not about if a hero can be played competitively, it's a matter of if teams are comfortable enough running that hero, like Wisp for Chinese teams at TI3 for example. Some heroes are good in some metas and terrible in others.

And yes, i understand that people don't like to take chances and do specific strategies around one hero that may or may not work, i was simply trying to make him think about the statement he made, that the hero is not viable :p (in my opinon every hero is viable) Btw dual mid is a terrible idea, he needs levels more then anything in the early game.

And it's really rare that opposing team doesn't have either, though single target burst is more "comfortable" for meepo since he'll survived it alot better later than he would mass aoe which just gimps him harder and harder as game progresses.
