Getting hit by attacks which you clearly avoided but still eat due to game latency, encountering single or multiple boss packs with some crazy mod combos etc..I have my qualms with HC altough I used to be a fanatic advocate of it. Just play Hardcore and you will never go back. I can't imagine ever playing any game softcore ever again... Even on Path of Exile always Hardcore.
The thing that makes me not able to play softcore is that there is no achievement or sense of fulfillment for my time invested. If I play for a bit and get 3 paragon levels I feel nothing if playing softcore, its just "yay I had time to grind some levels...." but in Hardcore it feels good to safely navigate a gaming session like "phew, I got 3 paragon levels today and nothing stupid happened, I did good."
Its also a rush. Your adrenaline kicks in when you get in a tough spot, you are constantly playing on edge, paying attention. I dunno, its just a million times in my opinion, to each their own tho I guess.

I don't have an SSD on my comp (yet - will be next upgrade when i get to it) and whenever I enter a new game and go through a portal for the first time I kneel and pray.

Just came back to D3 after a long break. Having fun slaughtering monsters in hardcore
edit: Input limit reached error....really...I guess I'm playing torchlight tonight

Most Blizz games can just be copy-pasted to a flash drive, USB HD, SSD etc without needing to uninstall/reinstall. Was pretty useful for WoW when you had macros/addons, but also is fine for D3.

Just came back after leaving sometime in September. Couldn't be bothered with my 60 but horribly geared monk so I leveled my 45 wiz to 51, entered hell, and promptly died. Thought I could handle it but vortex/waller/molten disagrees lol. Back to the drawing board with a 16 wiz now!

Bah, I was going to play more once this next patch went through for archon but I read they were considering nerfing it along with wotb barb so I'm disheartened now.....

And now that I think about it, how does that really make sense? They're changing archon to extend duration on kill assists so you can get full uptime on archon while playing in coop, while also talking about nerfing archon and WOTB so they aren't full uptime...

It's a long term goal, they realize how enjoyable these skills are and want to change the mechanic in a way so that they are still fun/effective, but they don't want to mess with people on short warning.

Yeah I get that, but I'm in the same boat as the guy I originally quoted. I saw the archon change and considered picking up the game again to try to improve my wizard's gear to safely switch over to archon. Then I saw that they were considering making the abilities short duration power boosts like they had originally intended, and I just said "eh, whats the point." I guess its just different for someone who isn't actively playing anymore, but is still open to picking it back up. It kind of kills it for you when you see something that would get you back into the game, but its likely only short term.

Yeeeaaah, but I'm probably pretty far away from archon worthy gear lol (and not a lot of free time anymore).

this. didnt they say they intend to nerf one with everything on monks in the long-term? like... they said that last august.
such fundamental changes of the game mechanics will probably be deployed with the expansion pack. there, they can include new monsters, abilities, levels and gear, so that people will be much less pissed off if their old gear loses its value over night.

Any tips on my wizard? Build (I don't like to spam keys), next item to upgrade, etc. I seem to die rather fast. Tried to focus on AR this time, at about 600 or so, but maybe I just need more life. Only at about 36k. Also not sure how to up my dps (only at about 50k). Got a 1k dps wand and a decent crit chance. Any ideas?

Dumb question as well. Does reduce/increase damage from elites count blue and yellows, or just one of those, or what? Is it even worth getting? Can't decide if a Chantodo's Will is worth getting or not. Kind of like my Oculus.

Right now you pretty much have no crit dmg, which is why your 40% cc isn't doing much for your dps. Not as much as it could anyway.

That Andariel's Visage is also scaring the shit out of me just looking at it. +23% fire damage taken on HC? Maybe try pick up a Storm Crow.
