Now this might be a total confabulation on my part, but when SC2 came out didn't Blizzard have a system in place where if you pre-ordered a physical copy of the game you received a code or something on your receipt that you could use to pre-install the digital version of the game so that when you picked your boxed copy up you wouldn't have to wait through the installation? Or so you wouldn't have to wait for the game to ship and arrive? It might have only been if you pre-ordered the boxed copy from their storefront, but I think they did something like that. My question is: are they doing something similar for Diablo 3? I'm about to pre-order it, but I can't decide between getting the boxed copy or digital. I'd like to have the third game in one of my all-time favorite series on my shelf, but I know I'd also like to remove the waiting for arrival/installation. | ||

I don't think you even need a pre-order, at least my friend just linked me to a site that I'm pretty sure was official and I could download the installer and install the game just fine. The install client isn't tied to your pre-order. Sure you won't have the link to the download on your battlenet account if you order the box but you can still download the client (see the third post above mine or google). So you can just download the d3 client in advance and install the game and when you get your box you just use it to create your d3 account. In retrospective this is what I would have done but I got so excited that I pre-order the online version right away when it became available.  | ||
