regardless I'm not sure why they dont make it open beta, I see 10x more people being reassured by the beta than turned away

In my opinion, an open beta would only ruin the hype. People who are actually working for a beta key will probably be happy when they get it, and once they have completed the beta, they probably want more, thus increasing the hype. And those who doesn't get a key may be a little frustrated, but it's not like they won't buy the game when it is released just because they didn't get into the beta. On the contrary, working for a beta key without getting it will only lead to a bigger desire to play the game.
Also, if the rumors are true, we will have an announcement of the release date next week. All those who complained about never releasing the game will now suddenly be happy again. And the hype is back on!

I think Blizzard released a new version of the opt in tool for the D3 beta, not sure tho.

Now to make fun of my dicky friend who was certain that he would receive a key from a Swedish game site and now i got access and he still does not haha 
Blizzard is currently giving out allot of keys to EU accounts best of luck you guys !
