With tastosis it's hard to outdo them, but in this situation I see a lot of YT casters trying to jump on the opportunity. I don't condone piracy, but this might be a bit annoying for GOM if the casters decide to disregard copyright law. I dont really want to dig up this thread again, but GOM is very good and efficient about killing restreams and people on youtube who try to do anything with their games. So i doubt that someone who casts and has a decent following will risk his account beeing suspended or deleted, to do what they feel is right. Is it illegal to recast the Korean versions? Like that Chinese site does. It all depends on your local laws. Many countries don't recognize intellectual property but most developed countries do. China is notorious for be very relaxed when it comes to intellectual property and even has a government funded theme park that blatantly infringes on Disney's intellectual property rights. ie. it's an unofficial Chinese "Disneyland."
Thanks for answering. You are totally right. And the new blizzard theme park in china seems to go the same way. I have been on an word of warcraft ride in a chinese theme park before so i know they just ignore any copy rights there might be. The only thing i could hoped for though was to get out alive, because chinese securtity regulations are sure way different than what we germans know :-p
Well since i had to work the whole weekend and i my only free day is on monday, i really hope that kelly and her co will be awesome. I will probably wake up half drunk and i really hope that the girl proves me wrong. Really there is nothing i would like more than this. Waking up and watching gsl code a and thinking to myself ... damn i am such and asshole for ever doubting gom and kelly ... that would be a bad and a really good feeling all at once. Its not long before the start so i wish them all the luck :-) plzzzzz prove me wrong.

This is the 2nd thread, the other was ~100 pages.

ppl are just expressing a concerne related directly with starcraft2, which is, mind you, the main reason this forums exist.
ALSO i'd like to say i'll watch all games she casts, not only ppl favorite huk's. Just hope the experience doesnt get ruined.
I probably shouldn't have worded it that way, I was listening to the news just as I was reading here, and that crap tends to screw up you perspective. I was mostly surprised that this thread reached so many pages in such a short amount of time, I did actually try to listen to some of her casts but tbh I turned them off because of totalbisquit and not her. Sure her accent is hard to understand and she's got a lot to learn, but I'll be damned if I judge her before her first GSL cast.
ps: the caek is a lie
yes it is

Uhh . . you do realize that there are two official Disneylands in China right? HK and Shanghai.

I sincerely doubt it. He's been trying to finish university forever and he's been pretty focused on bringing esports to NA and Europe. Quite frankly, I think he'll do more good here then in Korea.

I think he was going to cast something else in Europe. It would be good if we heard him cast though. His analyses are just mind-blowing.

I am glad, I am not the only one that is not happy about this choice. I suck at starcraft2 though I really enjoy watching the tournaments. So the only thing to do is not buy the tickets until we see how she does. I hope she proves me wrong, but I have a bad feeling. The only thing Gomtv will listen too is money and that is it. So if she isn't very good, or you can't understand what she is saying, then we have to stop buying the tickets that will fix the problem quicker than anything.

Skill + Talent = Day9 its just that simple ^^

Having her cast Huk games is just sad, I hope I don't have to use mute. I'm used to the Asian accent but I still can't understand most of what she said and her voice is annoying.
|
That is actually the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Damnit, now I want kids.

I won't be watching the code A games with Kelly casting them.
I refuse to have to sit there quietly with no audio or have to substitute with music.
Can only pray Huk makes it into Code S so i can finally see how he does in GSL.
Maybe GomTV will provide a discount for people who only want to view code S matches, as in just purchasing code S games, so the viewers can show their support to the casters they favor.

I think the decision was made on short notice. I think the mentality is to have "someone" there rather than "no one" there. At the end of the day, I think they needed to give Tastosis more time to rest (final goal), so we're experiencing a whole bunch stop measures in the mean time. Torch is a pro-gamer and I think he wants to focus on practicing rather than watching/administration. Same with Tastosis. Like GOMTV said, she had the best resume, and if you're a korean recruiter/producer with only John to translate, chances are you're gonna pick the person with the best resume (at least where big tourneys are concerned). It's probably also cheaper to fly from Singapore than from anywhere else in the world.
I'm on the fence on this one. I support GOMTV and I'm sure Kelly's a nice person. As most Singaporeans in the SC2 community, I was kinda happy seeing that someone made an effort to cast to our local audience. But catapulting our flavour of english to the world on an international stage? I mean that's really about national pride isn't it? Like To-mah-to and To-mae-to. And I don't really want to get into that kinda thing. I am a proponent of preserving "Singlish" because it's part of our identity and culture, so it's kinda hypocritical of me if I were to knock it.
I totally understand the whole "unintelligible speech" though. If you can't understand it, its gonna be a problem. On the other hand, we are only paying like 10USD, which is close to nothing. And there's this whole "voice talent" thing and the "clear english" thing. Clearly, there are too many dimensions to this argument, so I'd rather give this a rest. Anyhow, like a whole bunch of other people have said, the choice has been made.

Not really looking forward to Code A now outside of a few matches that may be going on mute. Its all good though as long as they don't touch Code S at all.
|
I actually listen to the streams as I work, so this could be bad for me. I really, really hope it isn't though. I like low, soothing voices.

Very true. In the National Hockey League, the Devils' broadcast team is typically Mike "Doc" Emrick and Glenn "Chico" Resch. Doc is one of the best play-by-play guys in the league and as such, frequently calls games on NBC or Versus in addition to the Devils games. When he is with NBC/Versus, he is replaced by Steve Cangialosi. The first year or two, most fans disliked him and his calls were iffy at best... Given time, however, he has really grown into his role and become a solid broadcaster.
I've never heard any of this woman's casts but hopefully things will work out. SC2 could certainly use a feminine touch.
