These invites are pretty stupid really.
Not only is it ridiculous not to allow IdrA/Nony/qxc etc... to compete for the NA spots, or Morrow/Socke/Ret etc... to compete for Europe spots; but when you're short of places why do you invite 2 players from Taiwan? Population of Taiwan 23 million = 2 players? Population of Europe 731 million = 2 players?
And then Cool gets to attend but can't compete? Same with Boxer? The whole thing is just unfair and silly.

People need to QUIT WHINING god your a bunch of annoying pricks, And get stoked for all the awesome games that will inevitably come out of this and for the fact that Day9, tastosis are all commenting together.
And to be honest, i can understand as to why Boxer and FD wouldn't want to play (they have GSL going on) but agree'd for a showmatch.
Also, Select plays on the North American Server, and lives in New Jersey (IIRC), so yes he doesn't live in Kr, or play on that server, or participate in Korean leagues, so why would he represent Kr? B/c he is of Korean descent?

Well SeleCT has always been at or near the top in the top 200 ladder, and I believe that when they went inviting players, they clearly noticed this and went ahead and invited him. It's weird, not because he's unskilled, but because he is Korean. Yeah but he's Korean-American...
Really? I'm quite sure he's Korean-Korean and is just studying in the USA

Won't happen. Maka is going to roll over every opponent, it won't even be close.

Looks really nice, good lineup! Sure some players are missing but that does not mean that the ones invited are bad or that the games will be bad.
More importantly: liquibets?

How high was TLO on the EU ladder? I confess that I really didn't know he was laddering enough on EU to qualify since he was in Korea.
Shame that he lost in GSL, hopefully he shows us some great games at Blizzcon.

dimaga vs maka, just wow, i hope we will see banelings + Dimaga's big grin
|
BoxeR vs. Fruit??? my head exploded

Why would a Boxer or Fruitdealer not take a completely free trip to the USA with comped flight and hotel room to play infront of a massive audience of fans?
Even without an appearance fee or exposure for their brand and sponsors and GSL and Korea gaming in general, its an amazing free offer.

Wait, what? TLO playing Zerg?
If he race switches I will weep bitterly.

As already said, 2 invitees per blizzard region. And invites are never "fair" by definition, they are just chosen to the hosts liking. And Blizzards choices are nearly perfect imo, much better than yours.
The only flaws are that Idra is not playing and that there might better Koreans. But we dont know the background of this. Idra maybe declined. And Boxer and Fruit Dealer not participating might have to do with sponsorship stuff or w/e. Maybe they are regarded as a too valuable brand to risk a loss against some non-korean. And the good thing is we will see 4 Koreans playing the way they do it now. I am strongly surprised anyway that we see Koreans that are participating in GSL.

Ever considered that Blizzard isnt making a '1 player per X million humans' situation, and instead is giving each region a chance to compete for honour? And if we go by that rule lets have about 10 chinese players?
Blizzard is a global company, do you really think people in China or Russia are going to care if 70% of the tournament is Euro/NA? Everyone will be tuning in to support their nation, the whole world has a hero to chant for who has a fair chance at fame.
Its a global vision of the world playing a game, not just a 'dream pick' tournament for and by people only interested in their region + korea.

Im REALLY hoping he is ready to surpise the world ^^. His play in euro-tournaments has been so origional and smart, but so 'underground' in terms of exposure.
I just hope that he comes out with some sick mid-game banshee play that nobody outside EU has encountered or knows how to beat :D
