If Blizzard wants to invite players, they should invite everyone, or invite one player per server, and let the other one earn it through qualifying tournaments. They can't do both.
Honestly, how can you take a player like SeceCT, who a) isn't american/canadian and b) got slaughtered by IdrA (a player who is actually american, not Korean, contrary to popular belief). Blizzard should invite players who best represent their game's fanbase, ie players like FruitDealer, IdrA, Boxer, etc. who hold the vast majority of fans of the game. Sure they invited players like TLO, DIMAGA, etc. but they missed players in favor of others who are "meh." The player list is solid. There are no "meh" players. The ONLY problem is that Idra absolutely deserved a spot over somebody. as far as i heard, IdrA declined his invite caus he wants to focus on GSL why both people here and on bnet thinks that Blizzard didn't invite him is beyond me, they know he is a powerhouse, and one of the best players in the world i was not invited Does that have anything to do with GSL and/or you commentating at GSL? Or did they just literally snub you for no reason? Those who were going to Blizzcon got the GSL matches moved to 1. and 2. day so they could go. Dont understand why they dident invite IdrA...? Not all of them on this list is even that high in ladder.
SeleCt and HuK have consistently been top 2 or so on the NA ladder for weeks now. Past six weeks SeleCT has been 1,1,1,2,3,1. HuK has been 3,7,2,1,1,3. Blizzard has said repeatedly that NA was going to be done by invite based on ladder position. Idra was in the top 200 for the first time in 6 weeks yesterday.

Gonna be close, I feel.
But I think Select will scrape by, his TvP is really good.

Lol even in America, we send a Korean!

Absolutely disgraceful how Blizzard has handled the selection process. They didn't participate (or weren't invited) to the Blizzcon qualification tourney in KR. However, I think EU/NA/Russia are invite-only and hence we see TLO who doesn't really ladder in EU. "Hey Boxer and Cool, we want you to come and help make our tournament popular in Korea ... but you can't actually get a chance to win $40K, that okay with you two?" This is just a complete lack of common sense on Blizzard's part. I don't like that Idra, easily the best NA player, was snubbed for this event as well.
But he's not playing in NA or has been for quite some time now.
Select was chosen for him being awesome, but also sitting at the top of the NA ladder for like ages (or roaming in the general area of the top) Huk was chosen for being awesome with fans, but he is also hugging the top spots of the NA ladder, being a protoss and winning raleigh certainly didn't hurt either. (currently 3rd)
Boxer I'm fairly certain is making fairly well for himself, and on top of the full boat trip to NA, I wouldn't be surprised if both him and fruitdealer are being paid more than 40k for that showmatch.
I can go down the list of players on the selection, but I'm fairly certain most were selected for both how good they are, but also because they have a solid spot on the various top 200s.

For those wondering i'm all 100% certain there will be a free stream for the games, because there was one last year and all the previous years. They want to promote e-sports and it'd be pretty stupid of them not to include a free stream.

i think boxer is going to lose against the "Fruit", he lost against idra last time they played so he's weak against zerg. still it's going to be fun to watch such a great much, even though boxer is losing, im still voting for Boxer, he's the starcraft man. Go Go BoxeR! U owNZ that fRUit!

I can't wait to see if artosis gets to talk to browder on camera. "Apologize for terran!"
I hope someone records this for me because the games begin at 4:30, which is 45 minutes before I get home. Then again the average delay for any starcraft tournament stream is roughly an hour, so there may not be a problem.

Maybe there setting up a suprise announcement.... and now representing America, one of Blizzard's own. It's Dustin Browder!
But then a lot of the European nations got snubbed too. No Morrow etc..

Browder commentating will be fun, cant wait to see what his new line is and how he explains blaitant imbalances.

Does it matter?
Blizzard already said from the beginning that they will do a tournament based on ladder performance.
White-ra and Dimaga are not Russian, but they play in the Russian server and got invited. Huk can even be invited from his recent performance on the European ladder alone .
|
Weirdly enough Dimaga and WhiteRa never play in Russian server and they are not Russians. Anyway great players, hope to see some epic matches.
Very interested how SeleCTs PvT work out on korean protoss

no idra, and your really putting select to represent america? Pisses me off. Not that select is bad its just that hes not really an " american " hes on a visa right? anyways, gl to huk and select.
|
Oh TLO you're such a badass, playing Terran at the GSL and just playing Zerg for blizzcon. I cannot wait for this madness.
Tournament will be epic.
|
that doesnt make sense teko and CO. Tlo doesnt play in europe i think ? but he was invitet so there was a little bit bias ...
|
TLO Zerg? :O
Where is Idra
