omfg SICK SICK Lineup. Not going to lie, those are the players i WANTED to see.

This will be awesome and I think 90% of the players earned the spot! :D

awesome line up and i totally get why Idra would have turned down an invite. He wants to win GSL and is focused soley on that....
Not to mention, you can't really have him represent the NA server over Select (who is american even if he is of korean origin) or whomever who play on the NA servers every day and win tourneys all the time. Idra's been playing in korea since before SC2 came out and i rarely (if ever) see him playing in the small weekly tourneys, only the big ones with big money on the line..... to most people they only really see him play at MLG/GSL and replays.... where as select, dimaga, demuslim etc we see all the time.
Being a big name shouldn't mean you get given special treatment based soley on that fact, there are people who do far more for esports as a whole than Idra, they play week in and week out for our pleasure and just to keep afloat moneywise, instead of a few times a month when there is big money on the line. Plus, could you imagine how it would look for SC2 if Idra started BMing at blizzcon? We SC2ites are used to it, we know its just part of his game and personality.... those who might just be watching because its there to watch would think badly of our community i think.

You can't blame Idra for not playing tournaments with horrible lag at 4 am in the morning...

I think they should have take out luffy and softball give the 2 extra spot to na and eu server one extra. Since they got more pros. Overall, the lineup is pretty solid other then softball which i think is the weakest there. probably will get knock out without winning any match.

lol, a lot of ppl on the latin american server have been laddering pretty bad just to get the chance to go to the blizzcon, and blizzard decides that there will be no latin american qualifiers. they said they were gonna do a tournament to decide who was going, that's pretty much the only reason why latin american players haven't migrated to the US server, and then they just send Fenix and Capoch, who barely play on the LA server.
no respect at all

both "NA" players are from canada lol nice lineup though I heard rumors that nada was going too??

Honestly, how can you take a player like SeceCT, who a) isn't american/canadian and b) got slaughtered by IdrA (a player who is actually american, not Korean, contrary to popular belief). Blizzard should invite players who best represent their game's fanbase, ie players like FruitDealer, IdrA, Boxer, etc. who hold the vast majority of fans of the game. Sure they invited players like TLO, DIMAGA, etc. but they missed players in favor of others who are "meh." The player list is solid. There are no "meh" players. The ONLY problem is that Idra absolutely deserved a spot over somebody. as far as i heard, IdrA declined his invite caus he wants to focus on GSL why both people here and on bnet thinks that Blizzard didn't invite him is beyond me, they know he is a powerhouse, and one of the best players in the world i was not invited Does that have anything to do with GSL and/or you commentating at GSL? Or did they just literally snub you for no reason? as far as i know they just didnt invite me because i dont play the american ladder

hahaha such a strange list
nonetheless awesome
GO SELECT

So could you have taken a Korean slot if you were on top of the Korean ladder?

I think it is lame that Idra, not even arguably, but actually the best non-korean SC2 gamer at this time was not invited to participate at Blizzcon. We have so many names on this list that are just going to get trampled by the top 5 competitors in this tournament who are leagues above them.
This isn't WCG, this is Blizzcon.
also: do you people really believe fruitdealer and slayersboxer would come to blizzcon and play for free? while they would be other-wise practising for the GSL ? NO WAY. i would bet my left foot that they are getting paid to come and put on this show-match.
I just dont understand why they say "well invite 2 legends to compete in a showmatch...cause we dont want them to roll through our tournament". IMO this is the only reasoning for not inviting Fruitdealer to play IN the tournament.
|
the Korean qualification was long before GSL 1 finished (maybe even before it started, don't quite remember), so how would they be able to squeeze them both in without a) stealing spots from other regions or b) telling maka and genius that they won the qualification tournament but that doesn't matter anymore and Fruitdealer and Boxer are playing instead.
|
people are underestimating select way too much. I want to see how his MMM holds up against a Korean Toss.

RedArchon and iceiceice were some of the few that actually qualified. They play in a lot of SEA events (including the nation war league) so if you search SEA in TL I'm sure the reps are available.
On an unrelated note, they clearly should have named the "Russia" region CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) which refers to all of the former USSR republics. I'm sure they're getting bombarded with angry Ukrainian e-mails. To clarify, there's no way White-ra and DIMAGA play on the Russian server, there is fewer people on that server than any other server so it makes no sense. However, they do live within the boundaries of that region (as defined by Blizzard) and so, they were invited.

TLO as zerg.. whats going on? Also, why arent cool, tester and idra invited? edit: boxer vs cool? *dies*
|
I cant believe they didnt invite Idra. He's easily one of the top 5 players in the world.
|
No Idra, no MorroW, no Fruitdealer (outside his showmatch).. Doesn't really feel as epic as it should!
If the Plott brothers co-cast the showmatch, it'll all be forgiven though. That'll just be too much to handle!
