I guess we can finally see whether incontrol or artosis was right in terms of the skill gap between top koreans vs foreigners

Wow wtf bs! Why does Dimaga get MakaPrime? Man, Ukraine is being discriminated against. Unless Maka gets some North American flu in the process, he will probably win this tourney.

But on the overall, its all good for an exhibition event. It's like a platinum league of pro-gaming.

Wow, huge letdown imo. If Blizzard wants to invite players, they should invite everyone, or invite one player per server, and let the other one earn it through qualifying tournaments. They can't do both.

Honestly, how can you take a player like SeceCT, who a) isn't american/canadian and b) got slaughtered by IdrA (a player who is actually american, not Korean, contrary to popular belief). Blizzard should invite players who best represent their game's fanbase, ie players like FruitDealer, IdrA, Boxer, etc. who hold the vast majority of fans of the game. Sure they invited players like TLO, DIMAGA, etc. but they missed players in favor of others who are "meh."

TLO and Dimaga "meh" players? I don't think so. Both play not only very entertaining, but also successfull. Dimaga was one of the few zerg players on europe that were able to stood up against he terran force before 1.1.2.

What I'm really curious about is that Taiwan gehts 2 Spots - the same amount as western europe, eastern europe (russia), north and south america. Is it that huge of a gaming community? I mean, china is big and has a lot of players (besides that probaly only 10% of the population has even touched a pc). Korea also no problem with it but Taiwan? Besides: I've never heard of that Softball-guy and SEn hasn't really done anything major in SC2.

Not having Idra there is a bit disapoiting, but he should has hes reasons for it (and I don't it's his manners, they got a lot better since he's in Korea).

He meant that TLO and Dimaga were good choices, but people like 'select' were meh... (not my opinion).

Taiwan has a pretty decent e-sports community. Nothing as big as China or Korea, but it exists. Softball may not of had done much (as far as I know), but Sen has some big accomplishments in the beta and has still demonstrated strong play on the ladder. Sen was the most dominant player in Beta. Feel free to look up the results. Although he and Tester and never met in a tournament, Sen was able to beat him on ladder recently and vice versa.

He has quite the ladder wins on the US, KR, and TW server. With wins like 2-0'ing Idra, beating out pretty much every top US Terran, MakaPrime, oGs.Inca, and others that someone else who watches his stream could recall.

I actually kind of prefer that SC1 will not be played. It would just degenerate to a Korean player fighting his computer opponent, and no one would have fun.

imo NexGenius will win it all.
MakaPrime 2nd
Loner
TLO/Sen (depending on who wins that series).

This is my guess for what the top5 will look like. Idk anything about Sen though, and if TLO was playing Terran he would be a definite 3/4 imo.

But again i dont know anything really about Sen, but from what i know about the rest of the people, I'd be willing to bet on my picks for 1-3.

This is why blizzard was vague about their criteria for selection...

Basically what they are doing here is trying to give Blizzcon a WCG/World Cup type feel with many regions being represented, sure they've done this before but it seems like they are breaking it up even more now.

Sucks for esports because we don't get to see all the best and brightest players, capoch gets to go because south america needed to fill another slot, but idra doesn't get to go.
True skill comes without effort.

I wouldn't call all these guys the very top of their countries anyway. A few standouts are definitely up there but I don't think Maka would be top5 Korean players and Genius might scrape in there but not based on his last GSL performance.

I semi-agree.

I mean i dont think these 2 are the best 2 koreans, but i think they are better than you give them credit for, and definately two of the bettER korean players.

But maybe this was intentional by blizzard? maybe bringing Good but not AMAZING korean players will give the foreign scene hope and a reason to keep competing? haha i guess im feeling sort of conspiracy theorist-like.

I mean anyone of the TSL members, or even EVERY TSL member would have made for a great tournament with the top competitors. But i also am kinda...disappointed that Idra won't be there =/.

but i think TSL would crush this tournament easily and that is why they are not the ones competing in it.

also about the original post... am i the only one who said "why" when they read dustin browder and robert "voice" simpson would be commentating?

Imo put Tasteless - Artosis - Day9 on the shoutcasting table and let em run the show. gives me chills just thinking about it

Oh wow, I hope Nick Dan and Sean don't steal all the talking time. I want to hear the banter between the developers on how the game is evolving/progressing.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

Will this be free to watch?

@Pheaver: The tournament streams will indeed be free to watch. For panel and event coverage, that requires the virtual ticket or DirecTV package.

i have a strong feeling that Dustin and robert are gonna be the "DJwheat" of last year, meaning that they will be the hosts, ask some question in betwen matches to the casters, and then let them do their "magic"

and yes, the thought of Tasteless&Day9 combo with maybe Artosis thrown into the mix...

*Geek chills*
