MLG D.C. is less than two weeks away! The debut MLG StarCraft 2 Event in Raleigh was a huge success, and many of the top players from that competition will be returning to play in D.C. They will be joined by some of the game's biggest names, for a roster that will offer the best in competitive StarCraft 2. Huk and Kiwikaki, the Top 2 finishers in Raleigh, will be joined by fellow Protoss player and Brood War legend White-Ra. Protoss and Terrans dominated Raleigh, but will be challenged in D.C., as Idra, the Zerg macro king, will be flying in from Korea to attend.
With such an incredible lineup, the competition will be fierce. There's no reason for you to miss a second of it: D.C. is free to spectate! If you can't make it out to D.C., for only $10 an HD pass will give you full access to all the action, with special features and a high-quality live stream that's almost as good as being there in person.

Go Tyler! Don't forget if your match is a best of 3 and run out of the venue ;D
EDIT: Slush, Idra, Machine, Ret are the only Zerg's out of the players I recognize. Any others? I assume the guy named "imakeroaches" is lol.
|
Only Sadistx was able to get a ticket? Where's everyone else! Bob / Rob / Chris / Alex / Alex / Mike / Mike / etc. etc.
Oh, I see Nokarot and one of the Alex's I think
Also, next MLG at San Francisco pls gogogo! :D
|
Great lineup. I'm looking forward to this! :D

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah I hope we're not too full of NYC ice cream to enjoy this event.
I am super-psyched to meet the Euro players coming over!

Pretty stacked lineup there. There's also a few non-bolded players who haven't gone to many tournaments, but are pretty strong.
|
Seeing WhiteRa in another tournament is just dreamy. I heart WhiteRa
Oh, and Ryan's OK I guess.

List looks awesome. Super cool that Idra and Whitera are both making it out for this event. Should be a good one!
|
TIME FIGHTING! Should be good :D
|
I can just see iNcontroL getting kicked out for using foreign equipment or something when really he was just saving the replays to a USB drive or something.
|
Make it part of the protocol to save your replay in a format like "incontrol taurent game 1" and e-mail it right away to replays@mlgpro.com or something like that. Easy. Make both players do it so you don't lose any.
|
This is going to be awesome, just like Raleigh. Maybe even better. Can't wait. Btw, will the premium stream be of the same quality as last time?
|
Good luck to all the zergs; hopefully you won't meet each other early.
|
Would anyone care if I made a comprehensive blog about my experience as a foreigner spectating? Could try to get some interviews, post some photos of the guys and maybe some reports of the game etc.
|
Good luck everyone!!!

A lot of players on that list that I'm looking forward to see play.

thebullfrog is a ~1600ish zerg I think. There are other zergs on the list but I don't think they're title contenders.

Nokarot and SadistX got the tickets, I got a press pass, Rob was emo at the times of pm'ing JP and didnt pm him til it was too late, orb got an invite.
|
this is such a sick list. i will definitely be buying the high quality stream again... as its not actually hd lol. is it going to be the same schedule as last time where if finishes up on saturday? or is it spanning the entire length of the weekend this time around.

if anything i'd expect MLG to share the starcraft folders over the network and just grab all the replays. they might be holding out for VODs though.

Damnit, wish I was going to D.C just to meet White-Ra, Orb, Torch and IdrA. :/

Also MLG needs more spots to promote an open bracket like Halo so more AM players are willing to attend.

Oh man, I am SUPER tempted to drive up to spectate this. Raleigh was a blast, but they had some tech issues and weren't very prepared for the turnout. Not to mention the issues with commentator audio for the live spectators.
But those kinks should be worked out now, plus that player list!? Good lord.

Good players who will be in the bottom 32 seeds of the bracket. So all of round 1 won't be easy games for everyone. They'll make round 1 interesting for a few people
Edit - Masq and Spades for the win of course

Hello Rupbar,
I for one would care. Would love to hear about how a foreigner views the event and if possible compare it to a WCG, IEM or even CPL event. I haven't had a chance to attend a MLG event so this kind of insight is interesting to me as well as I'm sure others.

White-Ra wtf? I didn't think we would see much of him in the next few months because of the wedding. I really hope he can get decent results. These western tournaments really suffer one big disadvantage: you don't know who you want to cheer for, because you like them all (more ore less obviously). In the GSL that was a lot easier :D Go White-Ra, HuK, Tyler, Ret.

Yes. First round will be on Blistering Sands

Zomg! Orb is even getting in on the action!
Orb fighting! But Whitera too!? Gah.. too many wonderful players ! How do I decide who will win?! They are all so awesome! The DC event is looking like it's going to be quite awesome!

Lol I can see by your quote that you're a fan of his.
DC will be probably one of the biggest events in SC2 so far in terms of names showing up not just players but community members like the whole Live On 3 crew and all. I can't wait, only 1.5 more weeks to go :D
|
I am so dead. My ultimate goal is to win 1 match, but I'm not all that hopeful. Just going to go play, have fun, take pictures and meet people. Hope to see all you guys there!
|
Amazing lineup! It should be one hell of a tournament, topped up with Day[9] and JP casting it... can't wait.
And can't wait to see fellow Canadian players rock! =)
Go HuK and KiWiKaKi!!!

Yep, but should still be RO64 or 32, so should only have to play 1 match in the week so could probably fly over for the games. Timezoning might bugger him though.

the line-up is so good, and seeing Slush Catz and Machine being joined by IdrA and Ret warms my heart, and TorcH and White-rA and and... aaiii

Surprised to see Orb on the list, I thought he had got bored of SC2! It looks like a great list of players overall, I'm sure that there will be epic games.
By the way, I've never seen Trump at a live tournament, yet he is quite good. Is he not into that sort of thing?
EDIT: Does anyone know if there will be soundproof booths at this event? To me that seems like the main edge that most Korean tourneys have over ones in the US and Europe.
|
From someone who has watched a lot of mlg halo in the past, I can't wait to watch this.
Lets just hope they get around to releasing the replays this time. I do understand that they will be a bit busy though seeing as halo reach just came out and 200+ teams have signed up. Then they also have to make new settings for that game.
Things are looking good for MLG.
|
Any word on the sound booths? I'm sure the spectators at the venue would like to hear the casting this time :p (also the fact we have a much superior player base attending this time)
|

Orb was just busy and didn't have time to play as much as he did in early beta. Trump lives on the west coast doesn't he? He's a good player but not the top 5 type of guy that'll fly cross country for an event.
As for Idra, I think its been pointed out before but the GSL open qualifiers are a few days before MLG, and then the ro64 doesn't start until the week after MLG.
|
|
Go White-Ra!! He always play with a new style, looking forward too it.
|
|
really nice line-up...though I'm a "little" bit disappointed that none of the great german protoss-players (socke, nani, hasu) has decided to participate
any chance we will get replays this time? seriously, it can't be that hard, can it?
|
Ret's coming to this? Fuck yeah!
I'll also be rooting for Gretorp of course.
The list is really awesome. It's a pity that it will be broadcast on US hours but I can't complain about time zones with proleague incoming.

GSL is from monday to friday every week, so as long as he made a deal with GOM about not playing let say the friday before MLG, he can participate in both
same thing with TLO getting sick, they moved his matches to the last day of the ro32, gotta give probs to GOM for being flexible as that

Talbadar? Boring cleave hero, I wonder what race does he play...
|
Wow, nice lineup. I'm impressed! Let's hope Cool/Fruitdealer inspired some Zerg players.
Raleigh's lineup wasn't as awesome as this one, was it? Might just be me though, seems like there are a lot more names I know competing in this one. Might just be that it's just more "community-heavy".
Possibly some loaded matches in there too.

It better be HD instead of HQ! D:<

Nice list, especially for North America. I'm going with an underdog and picking Select to win it. Rooting for gretorp and incontrol (and white-ra since he came all this way).

Alright, maybe underdog is a poor choice of words, but I'd wager that Idra is the favorite to win.

That list is easily the best I've seen so far for any in house SC2 tournament in the US. These tournaments are exploding and I love the progress. I'll be watching the casts and hoping there is an MLG in NYC in the future.
|
Wow! I had no idea how much bigger this event was going to be! There are so many more players now, and even foreigners! I guess I will have to watch this after all, and maybe even pay for the HD stream. . .
|
i may have to take a laxative if tyler and idra play each other just so I don't shit myself from the awesomeness.
|
Players are all nice and good. (im kidding that list is awesome) But who is casting this event??? I haven't been able to find a solid answer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for atleast the four casters from Raleigh, i love them all, and many more.
|
yeah MLG deimos said in a differnet thread that JP/Day9 will be casting again... didnt mention hd/husky though
|
Select, Huk and Kiwi top 3.
Nony vs Idra rematch from BW days would be fucking epic as hell though, wowow.
|
I'm guessing all 4 will be back, I think Deimos was confirming jp/day as opposed to stating it was jp/day.
|
I think djWHEAT is also casting.
|
I like Djwheat's show(s), but his SC commentating leaves a ton to be desired, and his borderline awful, no offense to you djwheat, wasn't that him at WCG world finals...
I hope Day 9 and JP cast again, really enjoyed Raleigh
|
Where did you hear that wheat is casting, he hasn't said anything, and mlg hasn't said anything. Next to impossible that that could be true o.o
And no @BraveGhost. World Finals was Rivingtonthe3rd (Counterstriek commentator) and D.Apollo (former C&C world champion). Both of them didn't know BW
Wheat is a good commentator when ti comes to filling time and games he knows extremely well, when he did shoutcast during USA finals with day9 for BW, 1) Wheat didn't know much about BW, and 2) day9 was commentating with him so he didn't have much tos ay.
|

Deimos is there a new question today, or should we reply to the one from Sept. 30th?

What are the prize pools? Who is commentating?

As of now, the commentators for DC are Day[9] and JP.

I'll man up and say that it was mostly confusion sown by yours truly (ME). We're squared away now and they will be released before DC. Post DC, they should come out MUCH faster.
Thanks,
Lee Just wanted to post this here as well.

I would love to see an IdrA vs Huk matchup that will be sick

Eastern Daylight Time
edit: Why the hell do we humans use time zones anyway? it seems incredibly inefficient when we could all just use Universal Time all the time, no matter where you live, no matter what time of the year it is.
If you need to wake up earlier to do farm work at some time in the year, then maybe you should change your alarm, instead of everyone's clocks. :|.

Also, passes are still on sale for Dallas. Don't make me regret fighting for more spots for Dallas and then not sell them out!

You're the man JP. Appreciate all your hard work.

This lineup is awesome. IdrA fighting!
Oh and btw, it would be super embarrassing if Dallas would not sell out. Tl has been screaming at MLG for a bigger tourney, they deliver and it is not selling out yet. Maybe it's because DC has not happened yet.

Dallas is too for most canadiens that wanted to go to MLG DC, as most are from Québec/Ontario region. ^_^
That could be one reason why it is not filling as fast
|
Deadline for the drivers is tonight at midnight EST!
|
Wow, Idra's actually coming to this.
|
Should be a good show. I wonder if first place wins only $2500 again. That amount just seems so unbelievably miniscule to the $85000 awarded at the GSL.
|
"only" 2500 lol, what a joke.
first of all yes, the prize pool has been stated to be the same 7k as Raleigh, Dallas will have one that is 2.5x larger.
Don't compare MLG to GSL, can't believe the gall this community has sometimes when complaining about several thousand dollar prize pools.

this isn't korea..

Wow, that's a good player list... omg, this is gonna be soooo awesome
|
Well, this seems the most relevant place to put this.
http://www.nationalharbor.com/Parking.aspx
Parking is almost exclusively garage parking (there's a couple of them, iirc). I swear there was a flat whole-day rate or something like that the last time I was there, but either they removed it or I'm wrong. It was pretty packed during the summer when I went, but since it's cooling off and during the school year it might not be so bad. However, I'd expect it to still be busy as hell during the weekends.
+ Show Spoiler +Customer Parking Hours Rate 1st Hour $3 2nd Hour $4 3rd Hour $5 4th Hour $6 5th Hour $7 6th Hour $9 7th Hour $11 24 Hour Max $11 * Night Rate (after 6pm): $11
* Event pricing may apply.

Is it still possible to enter MLG D.C starcraft 1v1 event I heard anyone can enter as long as they pay for their entrance fee into the tournament??????

Anyone can enter as long as they buy a pass. Passes sold out 5 minutes after then went on sale
|
Hey guys, I will be attending, coming from JMU in Virginia, about 2 hours away.
Hope parking isn't going to be a headache.
For those of you who have been to something like this before, do you basically just look for the SC2 area and the seats are first come first serve?

SO IS IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ENTER THE TOURNAMENT EVEN IF A PAY A LATE FEE+ TOURNY FEE OR CAN I STILL JOIN???
|
Can't wait to see TorcH play some more, he did pretty good at GSL despite losing in the Ro64.
Also, White-Ra fighting!
|
I will only be able to make Saturday, do you guys think I'll miss a lot not going on Friday? I saw the schedule and there weren't near as many matches then, but I still feel that empty feeling.
|
@Zoogaezee Sorry, I didn't explain it that well. For MLG Events, players are invited, but some passes are also sold. As for MLG DC, when the passes went up for Sale, they quickly sold out within the next 5 minutes. 64 Players have registered, but there will be, hopefully, several more events in future circuits from MLG if you were interested in participating.
|
the player list is soooo packed, can't wait
|
zoogaezee, if you don't already have a pass, you won't be able to play. Passes go on sale weeks in advance, and sell out quick. No additional passes are available at the door. If you're willing to travel, I think MLG Dallas might still have some passes.
