The Important Stuff:

OS: Windows XP Home (Looking at upgrading to Windows 7, if it is indeed an upgrade for what is primarily a gaming PC)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 at 2.5 GHz
GPU: nVidia 7950GT 610-1600 MHz
RAM: 2Gb

I'm pretty confident it will run Starcraft 2 with no problems and at high settings, since Blizzard have stated that they want the game to run on some pretty old/cheap machines. It can also run Crysis and Linux.

The processor is probably fine, but you need more RAM and a better video card. Drop >$150 in to that computer and it will run SC2 on med/low just fine.

Total cost was around 2200-3000 USD. (edit: found the receipt, it says 2887 USD) The computer is used mainly for rendering large video/image files, but also for playing games. If i find a game that i cannot play in 5 years i will be surprised (excepting some sort of computer revolution)

i have a post-college laptop that runs at a mind blowing 1.60 GHz and 1GB of shared ram that powered me through boring lectures and 3am report-writing....

will it run SC2...? hahahaha I WISH...

hopefully i get a better rig out once the game goes gold...

don't think my PC should have a problem running at max settings @ a 1680*1050 resolution

if there's a bottleneck, I would think it would be my video RAM though, but I'll be shocked since I'm not expecting SC 2 to be very demanding

if Blizzard did something nifty like incorporate gameplay affecting physics into the game, then I think SC 2 would be much more strenuous
