He repeatedly mentioned the F91 builds that suck, I really think he was just too predictable and not flexible countering to them. It is understandable to have your feeling hurt when you lose that way, in particular when you have looked at him like underdog before the match. But seriously, I dont think his mechanics is better than F91, there were many mistakes in his micro, esp MnM micro, got flanked easily and his tank micro as well, remembering the only tank seiged within the sunken range is just painful.

IdrA just was off with the positioning of tanks and a big mistake was one of his bunkers only had one marine inside, while the other bunker he unloaded and stimmed but lost 2 marines in the process. He ran 3 more marines over to get them inside and lost even more marines. It would be interesting to see how the game would have turned out if he had barely defended.

So many shitty poker players actually think like this, I swear it's the only reason that online poker is still profitable.

That's not a dig, but if I'm going to trust someone about top-level sc play (which my "omg, i once hit b- on pgt by matchup and match whoring) ass can't understand, I've been around long enough to know reks not the man. Perspective counts for something. Rekrul at least knows (and knew) his place. You don't have to be a top pro gamer to make the observations he made in this post, you just have to have a functioning head on your shoulders. Arrogance can be healthy. It can protect you when you're vulnerable. Is it the best way to approach pro sc? I don't know. But it's not obviously the wrong mindset to have.

When I was learning the game, my local chess club head guy(rating of 1800ish) kept making it clear to me that it's not important to mindlessly memorize all the different openings, but KNOWING the concept behind it and why they're optimal. It's pretty stupid to BLAME opponent plays less than optimally. That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard in my life. If you're truly a progamer, you should be able to PUNISH less-than-optimal openings and plays. Not sitting there without a clue because he does a stupid build and you don't know the counter. This. I couldn't have put it better in words. If the opponent is doing something non-optimal, a standard build with little tweaks should give you the edge. Even if you as a progamer would consider it nonoptimal play. Still, in a lot of games he really didn't make big mistakes. Game 1 - little mismicro/mispositioning with that first group of mmf. He could have won that battle against the lings, if he would have pulled his group behind those minerals or something. Mid risk//low-mid reward move. Game 2 - well, his defense should have blocked that lurker attack. Even I didn't get why it didn't work, yeah his tanks were too forward and one more bunker could have done it.. etc etc.

I'm convinced his attitude is the only thing holding him back -_- And with the exception of Strelok, it seems like "top" foreign Terrans tend to be major fucking titty baby excuse making pussies. Artosis, Idra and Aerials come to mind right away (no offense Paul, you know it's true). So what if you're playing the most technically difficult race? If you can't lose with Terran without being a cunt, play the "easy race" and shut the fuck up. I agree that IdrA's attitude probably holds him back, not just as a human being but as a starcraft player as well. If you're losing a game and you're convinced that your opponent was incapable of rational thought and just got lucky, you're probably not going to learn very much from your losses. You gotta respect all of your opponents and the way they play, no matter how bad they are.. The same holds true for poker. And btw, did you forget Brat_OK? Cuz that guy seems really humble and manner from what I've seen.
