Either way with WoW Blizzard is set to make shitloads of money for many years to come. In all fairness, which is easier to say? "D3" or "a new Diablo game"? While the latter encompasses more when both phrases are taken literally, people understand that the former actually refers to the latter, so it's just a convenience to use it. Honestly, it really isn't that big of a deal what people call it before it even has a name, so long as it's understood what the term refers to.

Edit: It's Irvine, California, not Texas, so it was PDT all along. >.>

I have no information on income from sales of games like SC/D2/WC3, merchandise sales, tournament server fees, character name change fees, or realm transfer fees, but it would only strengthen my case. I'm sure Blizzard has seen 10,000,000 accounts created, but in no way is there nearly that many active subscribers.

So, it seems likely that they come up at/around 12am (midnight) CST, seeing as it's a new day at Blizz HQ starting then. Seems they have another place in LA, so PDT (an hour behind CST and two behind EST) if they're running the site through that station. I thought Irvine is in California, and that is the HQ. They've been releasing the new picture updates at 12:00 AM PST, too.

Wow subscribers in Asia do not follow the same 15$ a month payment schedule and has a large number of subscribers, which would account for your confusion.

The subscription model isn't the same in other places too, from what I remember.

Good catch, but I doubt that would make up the $170,000,000 missing income. There's still the matter of income from other IPs and fees to be added to that, as well.

I'm sorry I have to prove you wrong, wow has 10million current subscribers, that's not including the canceled or free 10days accounts. Chart of their massive growth over the years One million concurrent players in china, then imagine adding all of the Oceanic, American and European players. I know, it's insane. Also, here's a report on their income for 2007 from wow alone.$1.2 billion (€814 million) in revenue last year.
