As all of you know ESL top 8 finals for the 4 spots in China are now going on. NewFace raped IdrA game one with a two gate dragoon rush on TauCross for a very fast and very easy win.

Idra Skew and Artosis are basically the same person. Funny that they're all in a clan together!
Edit: Just reread this. I doubt anyone will read this now, but this comment did not come across at all how it was intended. When I think of Idra/Artosis/Skew playing Starcraft, they all have the exact same style. FE and sit around, then get a third base and roll out with a 160 blob. Nothing wrong with that, it sure raped me, but that's all I ever see. All 3 also usually get really frustrated when they lose.
HOWEVER, I should say for the last 2 years Idra is generally a huge dick to me. Artosis has always been nice for the past 4 years I've played him. I've never played or talked to Skew. So that distinction should be clear despite their play styles all being so similar.

he disconnected twice, first time i waited 5-10 minutes for him to get back on, he did, we started again.
2nd time i waited 5 minutes and then went msn and told admin he disced twice and didnt come back on. we waited another 10-15 minutes and he wasnt back online. the admin told me to go play fraer in 2nd round wb, was i supposed to refuse and wait an indefinite amount of time for the guy who apparently had a shitty connection to get back on?
i did not demand a walkover, i was not bugging the admin for a decision, i have the chat log. i told him newface disced twice and wasnt online, then i went back on bnet and chatted with friends. every few minutes admin would ask if he was back online yet. eventually he told me to go play next round.

Meh, Rekrul just trying to say the foreign bw scene lacks and some of the players are delusional pricks. It would be nice to have a clean, strongly competitive circle, but thats near impossible with the the type of people we have. I wish the foreign scene was like the Korean amateur competition. considering he hadnt started his first arb and did not have massive money banked (with only one production round going) calling it his win, especially when he was the one who disconnected, is fucking retarded.

Dude if that's true why did you simply ignore everything newface messaged you? You could explain him that you got a walkover from the admin and that the admin forced you to play the next game. It would clear up a whole lot of miscommunication.

meaning he either messaged me when i had dnd on or as i joined the game. had i been trying to avoid him and get the walkover i woulda demanded one right after he disced 2 times in a row.

Fabian's hotkeys by the way are very differ from Newface's — 0nex and 1 for random probe from the very start, 3-6 gateways.

Yes, Idra's actions did result in an illegitimate loser's bracket that may have cost white-ra and myself a spot in the finals. I could understand the 2nd game on longinus where draco disconnected being replayed. It was a pretty clear win for draco (180 vs 120 is pretty clear). I might even be able to stretch and understand taking a win for that game (disc=loss). But taking a win for that game and another game that was not even played when you had just 10 minutes ago clearly lost the series is ridiculous.

meaning he either messaged me when i had dnd on or as i joined the game. had i been trying to avoid him and get the walkover i woulda demanded one right after he disced 2 times in a row. you obviously didn't have dnd on since it didn't give an unavailable message...so apparently you were joining 4 different games whenever each of his messages reached you?

Disconnects during later parts of the game lead to a repeat if both players agree upon it. If this agreement cannot be reached, an admin will decide about a repeat or default win.
I don't see the part in there that says "disconnect = automatic loss."
Game 1 on tau cross was won by the protoss.
Game 2 on longinus was definitely in the p's favor. Idra had a cute post about all the things that were going his way in the game, but let's not forget that the protoss had 10+ gates, a FAR better economy, arbiter tech done, access to 6 gas, and a decently large army to go along with it.
Going by the ESL rules, what kind of admin would award idra 2 default wins under those circumstances?

I dont think the first game was a disconnect, but if an admin HAD to make a decision because the players refused toregame You have to give that to the Protoss (like I Said before, id be pissed if I was idra if that happened because I wouldve liked to play the game out from there even though I was behind, if protoss made some monumental mistake idra could have "potentially" gotten back in the game)

idra is a good poster on this site and a fun player to watch. regardless of his bm and the controversies surrounding him, all the kids flocking for drama and a 'foreigners suck #3' thread to further flame idra are ridiculous - how many would jump on the chance to slide into a win if an admin of a tournament with so much at stake approves of it?
it's too easy to single someone high-profile out for their faults like this. at this level of play, the frustration of course will make people do things that others can criticize from a distance. have you all conveniently forgotten that newface was the one that disconnected? sure, idra can be a dick and take the win, but it's not as if he's completely unjustified in doing so. his actions don't warrant personal 'clearasil LOL' attacks and flames against his team. two people have already apologized for bringing an undeserving person into this as a result of their bandwagoning, so be careful of participating in mob justice.

It's really sad to see this happen to draco, he is obivously 10x better than idra on any day. Him being in the game with the ADVANTAGE disc or not I would bet 100% he would win. Hell he would when 100% with that kind of advantage against probably 85% of the foreign scene. He is obviously proven to be #1 of maybe 3-4 top gamers outside of korea.

Thankfully two posts in here have been well thought out. Yes, foreigners suck and a few of them have monstrous egos, but that doesn't mean that one isolated incident is capable of spewing venom about all the bad mannered-ness that has existed before.
While Rekrul is generally funny, he kind of has crossed the line from being funny into being an ass. Luckily he's not GuYuTe who needs to be banned because he's definately failing at being funny a lot more than Rekrul.
Anyways, foreign circles of the best may help create better foreigners, but they still won't be able to compete with the top Koreans who practice nearly all day against the best. It's just simple reasoning.

you've never played him and don't really know him so you're going by word of mouth and possibly bias opinions? from my few experiences with him he is usually a pretty nice guy that regardless of skill will talk chat and hang.
he has a bad image because, yes he is not extremely manner, but people that are insulting him because of what others have said or because they feel like jumping on the bandwagon are much worse than he is.

The problem seems to be that most of the top foreigners, who were healthy in the brain, realized that bw wasnt worth wasting your life, and quit. Or atleast stopped trying too hard. Now what we have left is players who are desperately trying to become good and get a name for themselves. They put so much time and effort into the game only to realize how hard it actually is to become good. These players seem have a very low self esteem. They BM people all the time but are actually angry at themselves because they know their limits and dont have the self-esteem to press toward the next skill level or, better yet, quit the game even if it has long since stopped being any fun.

I recognize some of it in myself, although I've always done my best not to be BM in public (what I mean is, maybe I'll be really pissed about a loss but I think I can count the times when I've actually mentioned it to my opponent on 1 hand - unless I'm good friends with the player), I've frequently been really disappointed in myself for the relatively poor results I've shown compared to the effort I usually put in.
Also led to me putting a bunch of pressure on myself. Meh.
But I don't think BW ever really stopped being fun for me, just poker became more fun.

When I played him in the Gosugamers starleague thing, game 3 on Neo Arkanoid I tried to do that probe jump with pylon, but game was pretty laggy so I failed 10 times or so, asked to regame.
He agreed, then I uh kinda succeeded next game only I accidently went to another main instead of the middle (oops , 3rd time I played the map), said GG, but we still regamed because well, sen wanted a real game I guess.
Anyway, I think he seems very manner + highly skilled. Just wanted to throw that out there!

Absolutely NOTHING will happen. Draco is not a physical threat, nor is IdrA. Draco qualified anyways so his motivation for "smashing skulls into rocks" is simply not there. Not to mention he has a long time to cool off, when is the trip anyways? I am glad we are sending some good gamers. A2 is solid, Draco is obviously one of the top candidates on paper and IdrA can do some good stuff too if he trains hard. JianFei (this is speculation) wont even go. Hes like 15, I doubt they would send him to China. In fact I am willing to bet another wont be able to go. Hope the Chinese offline portion is better ran than the online one was. IdrA was instructed to take a w/o in the late stages of a HUGE event only after like 20 minutes, that is garbage. Obviously he was having problems (Draco), dont make a hasty judgement! Also the Bruce/Ex thing or w/e isnt getting enough attention. GG.net has a section on it in the news, suggest some people read it. I say Idra was entirely in the right here based on what I've seen. The other guy broke the rules of the tournament and got DQed, so what. If this happened in a real sport no-one would criticize Idra. Why does Idra have to give the other guy special favours over and over?
edit: apparently if they actually fully enforced the rules Newface would have been out before he even showed up, so why is it such a big deal that he got the boot after breaking the rules (by disconnecting) twice more?

Seriously though, if a tournament is being run as badly as this one was ran, it's not the gamers fault, everyone knows and should expect that there will be cheaters, there are cheaters in EVERY online tournament, but for the cheaters to actually pull off something as stupid as this in the year 2007, every bit of the fault is on the admins and organizers.
As for Idra taking the spot, if I were in his spot, I'd take it too.
Why would I? Well if I wasn't going to ever go anywhere in Starcraft, and this was my only chance, and I didn't hack to get my spot but took forfeit wins even though I was raped by someone who was obviously better than me, I'd take the spot for the experience.

I am not going to say anything since -i dont know much about the characters artosis, rekrul, idra or anyone else mentioned in this thread, except that they probably could kick my ass using only their right hand.
i feel that too many (and sorry for being prejudiced if im wrong) low post members are jumping on the bandwagon before even knowing who artosis, rekrul or idra really is. and even if you have seen replays or some chat loggs of them that still doesnt make you an expert and gives you the right to totally fucking flame them.
however. the second game really did look like idra would have to pull some real david copperfield out of his ass to make the game turn in his favour.
if idra is telling the truth and really did wait for NewFace (Draco?) for around 50min summed together and still NewFace didnt show up and the admin declared a walkover then so be it.

What i always thought too. It seemed clear that when [GG99]Slayer quit in the spring of 2001 there would never be anyone to come nearly as close to the koreans as he was. The pro-gaming scene had exploded a while back and would just accelerate away from us poor foreigners. After he quit alot of other big names quit or at least stopped caring/trying and the new generation of players or whatever took too long to step up and after that there wasn't much of a chance for anyone to catch up with koreans.
It does help alot tho to just be in the right environment and actually play with koreans on a daily basis, live, not on the internet, that's helpful too but not the same thing at all. I think actually with the right motivation and dedication and also willingness from koreans to actually HELP there would be a handful of foreigners who could become average players on pro-teams at the least. I don't know any of today's players really but except for Slayer and obviously Grrrr..., ret strikes me as a player who could have had a shot if he had gone, Saft too possibly at the right time but as for todays' players...

How could anyone doubt that newface15 is draco after watching the Longius game vs Idra !? All in all idra's TvP isnt that bad and the toss just pwned him !? He had 3 expos running and just smashed the T force with a few units in the beginning and from then on he had such a superb economoy. Additionaly it makes u wonder : Smuft / Rekrul say its Draco. Well what happened is quite sad. Idra was losing 0-1 and after 2nd game it would have been 2-0. Later in the tourney Draco beat him again with 2-0. It means 4 games and (3-0 + 1 99% win unless disc). So does anyone really believe that that day Idra would have won 2 fair games vs Draco?

Idra your main line of defence is time - that you waited for Draco for over 40 min (like Testie admitted) but assuming he would have raped you like he did later i just assume that Draco calculated this just not to wait for the other players to finish theirs games. :D
I won't comment going into DND mode (i just do it when im afraid of dischack).
Another thing worth mentioning is admin's behaviour. In such important tourneys admins should be picked more carefully, they should be able to verify one's advantage in the game - it would spare unnecessary flaming.

I agree. The real good and S-class foreigner players (Maynard, Grrr, Saft, Nazgul, Slayer, Sven, NTT, Elky) retired smartly and at the right time. What we have left now are like B class players. Like rekrul said, how many times had Testie beaten Smuft before ? None. Still at 2007, Smuft comes out of nowhere and 2-0 him ?
