"DeepMind has already beaten top SC2 Players" announces Google 1 April 2016
Google has announced today that the DeepMind team has already been working hard at creating a functioning AI for Starcraft II, and that their AI has already racked up an impressive list of achievements, dominating the Korean online match-making system, or "Ladder", twice winning the Global Starcraft II League (Korea's top starcraft II tournament), and even reaching the Quarterfinals of the most recent World Championships.
Their machine, simply nicknamed "INnoVation", has been able to defeat even the most hardcore Starcraft II players, putting to bed rumours that the game would be too difficult for a computer to master. Much like it's Go counterpart, "INnoVation" has been able to make moves that no human player would ever think of pulling off, helping it to win matches against even the most veteran of players. However, sometimes those unusual plays ended up hurting the AI's chances. In the finals of the 2013 WCS Season 1 Korea GSL, "INnoVation" attempted to fly all of its defenceless medivacs through a cloud of mutalisks, which onlookers described as "a fucking terrible decision."
Lee Shin Hyung, Google's chief engineer on the "INnoVation" project.
Though INnoVation was often called "The Machine" by fans, for its mechanical playstyle and seeming lack of fear or emotion, it has only recently come to light that the player actually was a machine. Speaking after the finals of the SK Telecom Proleague Round 1, in which "INnoVation" took the decisive game, the google team announced their success. "DeepMind has already beaten top SC2 Players, and will continue to do so. The Machine has a strong record of taking out even the best players, and we will only seek to improve its success rate."
"As of yet, we do not know why "INnoVation" malfunctions when playing in World Championship Series Quarterfinals."

It's not like anyone actually tries to hide April Fool's jokes. It's meant to be funny, not some hidden trick that everyone's absolutely going to fall for.

It isn't April 1st here yet, so when I read the title I was thinking "What??!?!" but when I opened it I immediately saw April 1st at the top and lol'd =D

Yea, bad call.
Anyway, anyone who knows any better would know this is bs though.
The only real way an AI could beat a progamer is if the AI is piggybacked onto a human player of marginal skill/strategy.
Imho, these teams that are making AIs to play the game should instead be making AIs that a gold leaguer could use to beat a programer.
That is more likely to be achieved in a short time frame. And then from there they could try and improve to one that eventually does it solo (which would probably take decades or never happen).
The only problem with this, is that people could easily turn it into hacks.
you know what would have been really believable. A TL staff post now allowing memes to be posted on the forums. I would have believed that. Just imagine how many bans those power trippin' mods would have been able to hand out.

LMAO, I come and read the title and I was just like what no way, they just started to talk about it. How is possible that it's already beaten players?... Good one.

As long as none of these threads directly attack Blizzard, an organization, a player, or a caster/personality, then we will allow these threads to remain up until April 2. Then, when the clock strikes midnight, we'll burn all of it down with fire and maniacal laughter.
