Did NL 24 raging necrotic fortified, had to pull upwards of 1.5 million hps to kill the scorpion. so yea, 900k is a bit low.

276 million AP per token for killing a heroic raid boss at ak50, stuff is going full diablo
So 35 is the base artifact, 36 is the trait that puts you where 54 is now; 37+ is new traits.
Looks like we can instantly get 37, 38, 39 (3 ranks of new traits) and then be close to rank 40.
If i'm understanding stuff correctly we can go get ak26 instantly with a quest chain and that dramatically increases the amount of AP earned to like 4x what it is now; that should let us get rank 40 from opening the weekly chest.
Rank 41 will require about 29 dungeons equivelant in reward to level 10's today while rank 42 will require about 38 more, both pretty farmable and weekly raid clears etc will get a solid chunk of that. 42 is the gold trait for those specs rushing to it, some other specs might want to ignore that and get other traits up first.
Beyond that level there's a ton of ranks where you're buying a 4'th rank for everything and the AP-per-trait is exponentially increasing so it quickly becomes not worth your time to farm without AK levels, hundreds and then thousands of dungeon clears per rank

Yeah I never did the math but just from the blue posts it sounded like they basically want to make AP farming pointless by making AK knowledge so important. Which I dont mind at all.

You can get your 1 million AP per dungeon now or your 250 million AP per dungeon later

BEFORE AND ONCE 7.2 IS LIVE - a) Do NOT open M+ cache until you do the broken shore scenario/quests to get AK26 b) Do NOT open Sunday and Monday emissary chest. Do so after AK26 is attained. c) Complete 2 AP follower missions before Tuesday(US)/Wednesday(EU). Do NOT redeem until AFTER AK26

from what i know not opening emissary chests wont get you anything. you have to have not turned in emissary cuz loot is generated when getting those emissary chests in your bag. so just get 4/4 quests for emissary but dont turn in till next id.

Also i think that higher level m+ give more AP in the weekly chest even though 10 maxes out ilvl

Will we be able to leave class hall missions 100% complete but not accepted and then use the AP tokens post-patch?
Hearty Feasts now grant 400 stats (was 150), and Lavish Suramar Feasts now grant 500 stats (was 200).
Interesting, 500 mainstat outperforms 375 secondary for the vast majority of specs. Even 400 is pretty great~

We're going to have AP from the end chest and the weekly chest scaling up to mythic30, that will be cool! 7.2 Lvl30 sounds unreachably high even in Tomb gear
