FAQ
Q: What is the ASL?
A: The ASL is an organization dedicated to bringing a fun, entertaining, and competitive environment to the gaming community. We host professional, high production quality events and tournaments for everyone. ASL provides events for casual and professional gamers - eSports done right!
Q: When is open registration?
A: You can register to play in Season 4 between January 10th and February 2nd.
Q: When are the games played?
A: Please see our detailed schedule of all leagues here: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ASL_Season_4/Schedule
Q: What are the leagues and which one do I fit into?
A: Season 4 is divided into 5 leagues, each directed towards a different skill bracket:
Initiate: Bronze and Silver level players.
Defender: Gold and Platinum level players.
Vanguard: Diamond and low level Master players.
Challenger: Master, Grand Master, and Semi-Professional players.
Prime: Professional gamers only!
Q: Will all the games be broadcast live?
A: Yes. Every game will be broadcasted live on the official ASL Twitch or the Dingit Channels. Both can be located here:

http://www.dingit.tv/asl
Q: Why is there an entry fee to compete?
A: We charge a minimal entry fee of 10 dollars in order to have a prize pool everyone can compete for, raising the stakes and competition of the event. All entry fees are non-refundable and are used 100% towards prize pools for all 5 leagues.
Q: Why is there a deposit to compete?
A: All deposits are 100% REFUNDABLE at the end of the season as long as you follow the rules. We charge a deposit to improve the experience for everybody by weeding out trolls, smurfs, and to ensure players show up to their scheduled matches and follow the rules of the league. During Season 1 we did not require a deposit and had a 30% no-show rate. Once we implemented deposits, the no-show rate dropped to below 5% !
Q: How will the prize money be sent to me?
A: In the same way you send the entry fee to ASL! We send money to a paypal you provide, all money is sent to players at the end of the season (April 29-30th).
Q: What do I get for my money?
A:You get to compete in an epic season complete with group stages and playoffs. If you place in the top 8 you usually make your money back and sometimes even gain some! The higher the league, the higher the prize pool. Check out the group stages from a Season 3 league:

You will also get to compete in a sub tournament if you dont make it to the Playoffs which we call “Fallen Warriors,” maximizing your competition and earnings potential.

Q: Where do we meet for the competition?
A: On the night in which you play, please meet in the “ASL” group in Starcraft II. All games, unless other conditions are arranged, are played on the North American Server.
Q: What happens if I register to play in a league lower than my true skill level?
A: You will be removed from the tournament, forfeit your deposit, and will likely have a lifetime ban from ASL events. This is considered smurfing and the ASL has a zero tolerance policy on it.
