I really do expect this PAX announcement to be something irrelevant (to a certain extent) to the pc gaming world. I see it as probably being confirmation of Diablo on console or maybe a deal to suggest they will bring more games to console. Or even something stupid like "social networking" integration from BattleNet. I don't see why SC2 DOTA or Blizzard All Stars is mind-blowing. Do we really need yet another DOTA clone? i totally agree we don't need another dota. anyways the ProScene will stick to dota2, making dota the only moba game worth playing. while sc2dota might give a better choice for LoL and HoN players who play on the shittiest platform ever and 2d animations... Eh, what? Don't understand what you're trying to say and I'm not sure how it's relevant to the discussion anyway. Just a DotA fanboy hating on LoL. The scene is still with LoL, and honestly I sort of expect the MOBA genre to die with League when it eventually does. I'm sorry what? You do realize MOBA games have existed before LoL right? DotA 1? Hell, you can trace it back all the way to a custom BW map called Aeon of Strife. So this genre has been around for very long. Plus, keep this in mind, there were a lot of people still playing DotA 1 over LoL or HoN until DotA 2 came out, and there are still some today, in both Europe and Asia. That coupled with the fact that there are quite a few MOBAs on the market right now, some of which fresh and innovative with a healthy playerbase (like Smite, Super Monday Night Combat etc)... LoL is very big. It's the popular thing right now, possibly more popular than any game has ever been. But to expect a relatively old genre full of hardcore players to just die out whenever its most popular and casual exponent dies out is simply absurd. ~~; Iirc AoS was based off of an idea before that. AoS was probably the first true moba though.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were. ^^
And that strengthens my point really.

I meant as a gigantic industry, I predict that LoL will be the biggest MOBA. No one expects the hardcores to simply drop the genre- there is still a thriving SSBM community.

LoL is more like DotA than Bloodline Champions is. BC is an entirely different subgenre than DotA/HoN/LoL.

What if it's not a game at all...?

I mentioned pretty early on that it could be their Blizzard "Steam-like" platform that they've been working on but Blizzard DotA just seems more likely.

But we all know SSBM community does it for the money.

Well I'm just gonna dive into this Blackstone thing, since it seems like it may be connected. It lists Mr. Jack as Xeno Imaging, and he does a lot of concept art etc. Guess I'll just plod down the list until I know all these names.
Edit- that didn't take long, I already know most of these names. Writers, voice direction, etc. Dayton's thing suggested that Blackstone was a big part of the announce, and Blackstone is *all* SC universe. World of Starcraft? lol.

Wasn't blackstone just part of the HotS release campaign?

According to tweets made recently no, it's part of something bigger. So it might be something to do with that.

Ah okay, I didn't know that. I still think they're not going to make an MMO in the traditional sense as long as WoW is profitable though.

Me neither. But maybe some sort of other game set in the SC2 universe. Ghost or something. Probably not Ghost.
The Mr.Bitter comment has me scratching my head. We'd only say "whaaaa?" if it's really off the wall- a different genre, or platform, or something.

Nothing fun about five to ten minute loading screens just to play on one smaller-than-dota2 MOBA map. If you take more than 5 minutes to login, search game, get into game, I suggest you should fix your computer.
No, it's waiting for everyone else to load. My game takes about a minute to load but you will generally get players with really slow PCs or bad internet coonnections who take fucking ages to get past the loading screen.

It happens in every games, not just LoL, especially free games. There're always people with wooden computers trying to play the game and it takes them forever to load, even in Dota2. In dota2, you see timeout more and more these days, especially on SEA server. It takes much longer to search game in Dota2 than LoL, and you rarely can just search one time only anymore, so I don't think hating the game for slow loading is a much valid reason.
