Trump likes to remind the island of ungrateful people of how much the US is going to spend on them. With all his racially charges language that he breaks out whenever he is criticized for being the shitty president he is.

He didn't say that this wasn't a tragic event. You are spreading misinformation for the sake of being divisive.

I listened to the whole thing on NPR. Don’t be basic. Trump says a lot of things he doesn’t mean. Don’t be dumb. Divisive President breeds divisive citizens. Trump reaps what he sows.

So don't be dumb and spread lies.

Like, "Man, that bites, but if you look at a real mess of a breakup like mine you're handling this way better than I ever did." That kind of thing, the "real" is inclusive, an indication of similarity/kinship/comparability as opposed to being exclusive. I mean Trump is a human wasteland of a President who has many other Puetro Rico-related failures to condemn but this particular issue seems entirely innocuous.

IANA language expert but I wonder if some of this is in part because that use of "real" is a northeastern thing. That sort of language has happened a lot in my life and it's always been meant commiseratingly as opposed to dismissively. I wouldn't call it entirely innocuous, but yeah "real" as "very big" does take some of the bite out of it a bit as a normal person thing. But for a politician, being held to the fire for even small sound bites like this is the norm more than exception, it's really only like Trump who hasn't been held to this sort of standard for his word mincing.

Literally not an empathetic bone in his body. It wouldn't be out of place if "let them eat cake" left his mouth, at this point.

Yeah, if this was any of the last three Presidents this would have been milked for a week's worth of "news".

About the underreporting of deaths, and how far behind the system is in dealing with bodies and deaths in PR. https://ctmirror.org/2017/10/02/marias-dead-in-puerto-rico-are-underreported/
