Sounds like he's going to vote for it.
Edit: Yep, basically said he'll vote for it provided it goes to conference with the House and turns into something else. What an ass. You too, McCain. I take it all back. McCain is literally the worst. This is why the Republican party has to be burned to the ground. What a bunch of useless corporate shills. If anyone tries to take the time to, once again, point to the Democrats and tell me how that's somehow the most important problem this country has right now, I can only tell them to fuck right off, so much. This shit is real, and it's scary, and if you attempt more whataboutist bullshit then you're condoning it all. No more excuses.

I can understand people who voted for Trump far better than I can those who voted for a GOP representative. And about 30 of their senators.

Trump may be utterly incompetent as a leader, but he really is a master at getting the responses he wants from both his base and his enemies.

Eh, I think the trans thing was a legit attempt to get his wall money. It reeked of Trump's standard solution to problems (i.e. making them worse in almost every way with a simple "solution" devoid of nuance or logical thought).

A vote to destroy the ACA and leave the country with nothing is not going to pass unnoticed. And the moment people becomes effected by it there is no hiding it. Republicans are in full control, there is no one to hide behind.
Sadly it looks like tens of millions of people have to suffer before someone gets the point.

The entire White House is coming off the rails while Congress figures out how not to be blamed for delivering the bullshit they promised people.
Remember now no one believed that sequestering would happen in 2013 and then it totally happened? This skinny bill will become law. The House will pass it and try to blame it on the senate. And Trump will sign it because he doesn’t read. Mark my words, that thing leaves the senate, its the law of the land.

I wonder if I will lose my insurance if this flaming pile of shit passes. I'm in college right now and getting free insurance through the state of WA.

Thing is the skinny bill is like the worst possible thing for the GOP to pass. It is like a direct line from there to UHC, as it makes the market unsustainable unless you have government coverage.

We're gonna enter Duerte levels of discourse soon with this guy as communications director. I can't wait until we have official WH statements telling other countries to "suck our dick".

That's a common occurrence. Nobody thought Trump would win (in the beginning). Nobody thought Brexit would happen, etc.
People seem to underestimate reality constantly.

I'll give them this last ounce of blind trust that they won't fuck over the country. McCain voted to take the bill to the floor and then killed it. Maybe he has some other play at hand here?

I think that's why Graham is going O_O right now. He's got half a brain on his shoulders and he can tell this would be a complete breakdown of the insurance industry. It would effectively need to be bailed out with a complete restructuring and ripping off every bandage.

If they're going crazy or there's a company shedding stocks, then we're phucked.

It is like they need to go over every single terrible options out loud, in detail before they can decide if that is the terrible options they want to hang themselves with.
Because they know. They know that if they don't do this, the Democrats will hold them over them for a decade. The GOP will be the party of failure for a decade. The obstructed an entire administration trying to repeal on law and then couldn't do it because they never really figured out how to do it.

Nah, the markets love volatility (at least my ex-Wall Street quant friend told me so). Passing something that amounts to "???" is not bad for them.
Plus chopping out all or a good chunk of the ACA was never really going to bad for the actual companies. Just people.

Her entire office is losing their minds right now. The best estimate is that they will have to lay off like 50% of the staff if medicaid is cut. And I know that might not be on the table, but it could be there again at any moment.

Doesn't matter if the Democrats hold them accountable, it only matters if the people hold them accountable. And so far that mechanism isn't functioning. No amount of bad governing seems to make the process work.
