I don't really understand why Kasowitz stopped. I mean, it is clearly outside his expertise, so that much makes sense. But if he decided to start, why decide to stop?

So far, stuff like this seems to come a week before what inspired it makes its way to the public. For a notoriously sleezy lawyer who has tolerated Trump for 17 years to leave makes me think Kasowitz saw something that made him say "Welp, you're screwed" and walked out.

This is probably a lot more personal and so Trump is closer involved himself.
Tho this is ofc pure speculation.

Those were all civil claims that at worst could lead to him getting slapped by a judge for not complying with discovery requests for something petty and silly. In this he could get slapped around by congress or the FBI. On top of that, he has Trump as a client who is straight up saying “I would obstruct this investigation if someone would let me.”

I think it would be messed up if the only reason Trump got caught up was for previous financial dealings that would have gone completely unchecked had he just not been such a pain in the ass for establishment politicians on both sides. Pretty sure there's something about this when pertaining to typical search warrants or other expeditions for evidence of a crime.
As for impeachment I think McCain might be a legitimate chance at a vote (seeing as how he's probably not running for re-election) now if someone can find at least 12 more that would vote to impeach their own party's president and would either sacrifice their seat or Trump polls poorly among Republicans in their state it's got a remote chance of happening and getting us President Pence (which I'm not sure is better in most ways).
Someone said Trump pardoning himself would be the most devastating thing he could do to democracy short of nukes. I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with that. Trump pardoning himself after being the single most obviously corrupted, incompetent, etc... president could be the only thing that saves our democracy (at this point).
Just be happy this happened with a president far more concerned with himself and his personal wealth than with power and domination. Trump is showing us that so long as a president has a large enough base (~15-20% of the population properly placed) they are basically untouchable.
Our system has been dependent on honor, trust, and the clever and manipulative deception of that trust. Trump has demolished that structure and awoken (however slowly) much of America (and some of the pundits) to the reality that this has never been about criminality. That their theory was that if they could prove Trump committed a crime (no matter how convoluted or petty) then Republicans would have no choice but to impeach him. Of course that was wrong on several levels. The political reality is that it's going to take something bigger than anything speculated on to date in order to create the political will for impeachment (or charges of which folks would be pardoned anyway).
Trump isn't our first criminal president, and he won't be the last, because no one (in power) actually wants to stop the essence of what Trump's doing (exploiting the presidency for personal/family/friend gain), they just want to put it back under wraps so that (they think) people won't riot or actually try to stop it when not so flagrant and incompetent.

He had his own little emails drop amidst the Trump Jr. stuff that made him look really bad (as in his place of work needed to go on record saying he wasn't an alcoholic bad). Wouldn't be surprised if there was some pressure from Trump to drop him

That is correct and what most normal attorneys would do. Few attorneys are up to the baptism by fire approach to learning law. And their malpractice insurance does not encourage that style of learning either.

In fairness the Trump 2020 campaign fund probably should spend down all their funds as soon as possible.

this internet quote dredging from the past is so pointless. it has become part of the endless cycle of condemnation and deflection that is the foundation of contemporary media spectacle. its a serious and reprehensible ontological flattening of persons.
Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself; I am large, I contain multitudes.
that is the very basis of contemporary subjectivity. what do we want? entirely self-consistent inhuman automatons? not to mention that trump himself is no less contradictory in his praise and condemnation of hillary (and her competence). the man is in finance not a caricature

Special counsel Robert Mueller has asked the White House to preserve all documents relating to the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower that Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort had with a Russian lawyer and others, according to a source who has seen the letter.
Mueller sent a notice, called a document preservation request, asking White House staff to save "any subjects discussed in the course of the June 2016 meeting" and also "any decisions made regarding the recent disclosures about the June 2016 meeting," according to the source, who read portions of the letter to CNN.
