What? Is this going to be a Jurassic Park type of Fence/Wall?

President Donald Trump floated putting solar panels on his planned Mexican border wall in a meeting with legislative leaders Tuesday afternoon, according to White House and Capitol Hill officials.

It was unclear why Trump brought up the topic, but he presented the panels as a way to fund the wall, which is expected to cost billions of dollars, according to three people familiar with the conversation.

He didn't express certainty that it would happen — but that he'd heard it as a possible idea and wanted to see what others thought, said a senior official familiar with the White House meeting.

Trump has insisted that Mexico will pay for the wall’s construction — something Mexican officials have repeatedly denied — but has acknowledged that taxpayers may need to initially foot the bill before being repaid.

The president’s interest in a potential solar panel solution comes as he’s received intense criticism from world leaders for his decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement.

Last time I got a quote, it approximately costed 84000 USD to install Tesla solar panels on my home roof (approx 2200 sq ft). I cant even begin to imagine how much it would cost to fund Trump's plan.

Mr. Comey believed Mr. Sessions should protect the F.B.I. from White House influence, the officials said, and pulled him aside after a meeting in February to tell him that private interactions between the F.B.I. director and the president were inappropriate. But Mr. Sessions could not guarantee that the president would not try to talk to Mr. Comey alone again, the officials said.

Mr. Comey did not reveal, however, what had so unnerved him about his Oval Office meeting with the president: Mr. Trump’s request that the F.B.I. director end the investigation into the former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, who had just been fired. By the time Mr. Trump fired Mr. Comey last month, Mr. Comey had disclosed the meeting to a few of his closest advisers but nobody at the Justice Department, according to the officials, who did not want to be identified discussing Mr. Comey’s interactions with Mr. Trump and Mr. Sessions.

WASHINGTON — The day after President Trump asked James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, to end an investigation into his former national security adviser, Mr. Comey confronted Attorney General Jeff Sessions and said he did not want to be left alone again with the president, according to current and former law enforcement officials.

i'd laugh my ass off if former law enforcement official was jim comey

He's famous for the "sources close to Comey" (or "the former director" or "familiar with his thinking"). You search enough for those kinds of attributions and you'll find Comey likes to *wink* *wink* tell the press what he thinks and does nonattributively. In that sense, kind of like Trump back before his reality TV stardom.

How much power were you using?! The point of them is to offset your own energy costs. You don't need to coat the entire roof.

This is hilarious. And I can guarantee his base is saying something along the lines of, "If it keeps illegal immigration down, I'll pay my fair share until Mexico repays us. Trump will get them to pay for the wall."

Y'all got got. That's the end of the story.

Just compare this whole ongoing drama to the Obama administration. Was there anything during the whole eight years that's comparable to every single week of the Trump government?

It was the Solar roof and not vanilla solar panels. So basically they strip out all of your roof tiles and replace them with solar tiles.

It's the same brand of non-logic that made Trump think Democrats would be alright with firing Comey as long as they said the reason was mishandling emails. Liberals like solar energy, therefore they will vote for my wall if it has solar panels.

Just like that time that Kushner said that firing Comey would be fine with Democrats since they would be hypocrites if they said it was a bad thing to fire him.

That ignores all context. If Trump fired Comey for his mishandling of the investigation during the election then it would be hypocritical for people who had called for Obama to do so to complain. But Trump didn't do that. Trump did the opposite, declaring support for Comey's actions and then firing him for refusing to pledge loyalty. Democrats can simultaneously be opposed to mishandling the Clinton investigation during the election and also firing the FBI head for refusing to put personal loyalty to the President ahead of the integrity of his duty to the country. There's no hypocrisy in that.
