We absolutely need to do a better job of teaching civics, skepticism, science literacy. A better job with education across the board so we have a smarter more well informed electorate in the future. And we need to do more to make sure everyone gets to vote and actually shows up to do it.
The system is shitty but if you actually care go do something about it. Work to make things better, work to make people smarter, more informed, work to make sure everyone has a voice.
Well the US has a system that goes exactly against what you say, because you have very little voice. Heck, 40%+ of people wont really get a voice at all, or wont be meaningful anyway.
(Not to take away from the system, I recognize it has plenty of advantages over others... It's just one of its biggest disadvantages is it makes no compromise).
I'm all for an educated society though, definitely worth the time and investment.

It is in a sense, he doesn't need the status or fame, he'd be a celebrity president whereas Obama's a president turned celebrity. Dude, again, that is kind of silly. There is no known person in the world who would be like "psssshhh being leader of the richest, most technologically advanced, and most powerful empire in the history of the planet is a step down from my regular day-to-day life". It might be a lot of work, and it might be hard. That person might not want the job because of it. But in no common usage of the phrase "a step down" is that actually true. The election is 20 days away and the Trumps are already claiming the grapes are sour No, not sour grapes. If you live a life of boundless opulence in mansions and estates all around the country nothing's forcing you to live a life surrounded by bodyguards and have the job of running everything and being on endless 24 hour call. This is something he's said since the primary, that he doesn't need to be running, unlike people who actually make it their career. It's interesting you say sour grapes because I constantly see people insisting the election is already over, including people in the media, which is not a great thing to do for voting.
I'm applying for a job that I don't really want anyway
Sounds and smells like bullshit

Yeah, looks like we Trump guys wont win, but at least getting 45% will hopefully send a strong message that there's plenty of people unhappy with the current direction... Especially when that 45% people will have voted for almost suicide for their country to show their unhappiness.
That should be a strong message that things are not okay. Literally anyone would get 40% or more running for either party Sounds like a pretty shitty democracy, no? Interesting that's not being addressed, so either way, the losers imo will still be able to come out as the victims in all of this, and benefit from it. That is why this election is astonishing. Trump is having difficulty holding on to votes he could, and should, have gotten just by showing up.

Needing and wanting are different things, they're spelled differently and have different meanings.

Please take it easy.
He's behind by 6.5%~, Reagan won by 18%. Gap is smaller now than in 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2008 (I started from 1980).

Oh he doesn't just want attention, he needs it. And the presidency is the holy grail in that regard, he'll have continue to obtain it by talking out of his ass on the Alex Jones show without it

We need to invest into our citizens and give them the ability to determine for themselves what they think is best for themselves and their country

I fail to see what you guys are saying?
That having the ability to become educated is good?
I guess 9/11 was also bad.
Seriously though, that's like telling people that them learning how to cook is good... sigh. I'd sincerely hope that what you're asking for is being done already.

Might fill the gap he feels after giving up hosting his own TV show for 15 seasons.

Why wouldn't he accept the result? I hear the presidency is a step down from being a full time twitter conspiratard and he didn't need it anyway

Look at the bright side... refusing to accept the election is eclipsing the fact that he called Hillary a nasty woman in the same debate as saying nobody respects women more than him and how badly bringing up Bernie Sanders backfired on him.

Interesting that's not being addressed, so either way, the losers imo will still be able to come out as the victims in all of this, and benefit from it. People always say, "the system is shitty if this is all we could come up with". the problem is that we constantly have had the opportunity to come up with different candidates, and 1) when you come up with "different" candidates, you come up with clueless picks like Trump, Johnson, and Stein, and 2) the people only have themselves to blame. Our voter turnout is absolutely atrocious, and voter turnout for primaries averages less than 25%!
you say mike rowe has it all wrong and then say this. what leads you to believe that if voter turnout were higher we would have better choices?

On October 20 2016 13:06 Dan HH wrote: Why wouldn't he accept the result? I hear the presidency is a step down from being a full time twitter conspiratard and he didn't need it anyway You are interpreting him with bad intentions. His line makes perfectly sense. facts are: a) presidency is a step down for him b) he won't accept the result, if he deems the election rigged c) it is almost impossible for him to win this election at this point.
So... if c) is overturned by election rigging, then this would lead to b). Now this makes perfectly sense, as c) being overturned would also lead to him being president, which according to a) is bad. So to avoid making a step down, he would have to refuse the result, in case the election is rigged. Luckily for him, the US, the voters and the rest of the world, there has been no hint at serious rigging attempts to make Trump win. I mean, there have been minor distractions from the Putin/Assange connection, but this does not qualify as rigging but merely as "trying to negatively influence it" and this happens with most elections, if we are honest.
I hope I could help you to understand the candidates view and that you will in future will assume less bad intention when interpreting politicians (or those who would like to be or maybe not like to be) statements.
