Trump's within striking distance already. He's one good Wikileaks email dump away from burying Hillary, and he may not even need it when it's all said and done.

I think he absolutely needs Johnson supporters. The people he turned off with Khan comments and general jackassery the week after the DNC flocked to Johnson.
The anti-Hillaryites are all priced into the polls at this point I think. Trump brings nothing to the table attacking her that hasn't been brought by legions of others for decades-none of his attacks have even scratched her (it was all the FBI, nothing Trump did). It will all be acts of God, nothing he can do on that front whatsoever.
(I personally believe Trump's attacks on his opponents in the primary have almost all also been totally ineffectual and that it has been mostly acts of God and feet in mouth by his opponents that sealed his nomination as well, mind you, so I don't think he has really cut his teeth on the offence)
We could see though. Anything's possible.

Right now Stein is basically advertising herself as "the leftist candidate for people who don't like Hillary Clinton."
I've generally been very suspicious of "Green Party" candidates all over the world because they're generally pretty short-sighted, policy-wise.

This speech was to his base not any other.

1: Oh, he's riding the bike! He's so presidential! He didn't make a complete ass of himself in Mexico! 2: Wait what are you doing with that bar? Donald why are giving this speech in Arizona? 3: Dammit he fell. Rigged! Crooked Shillary!

I'm not really sure what the hell the Mexican president was thinking inviting him there to begin with. Did he think Big Don wouldnt come? All very odd.

Question is what Trump actually thought would come out of this.

They both benefited, he looks like he can stand up to the orange guy like you said, while Trump answers the charge that he couldn't meet a foreign leader without turning into a donkey (and not in the Democratic sense).

Yeah he just turned into an orange baboon. The Triple down is real. Im surprised no ones trying to cash on this shit shamelessly like some food chain. "the triple down" sounds like a nice name for a burger or some...

How exactly did it look like he stood up to Trump? Seems like all he did was stand next to Trump, then only later when Donald was long gone did he seem to rebuke his ideas.

Up until, you know, he talks about the meeting after and looks like a donkey then.

Well, when Trump goes around telling people he'll make Mexico do something, they meet, and nothing happens, that generally looks good for the side that was supposed to be bullied around.
Americans won't care, but I imagine Mexicans can have a good laugh about it.

He didn't stand up to Trump because that's not how politics goes, but he can say/suggest it at home - I assume Mexican papers will be talking about how the orange man met with the president, who compared him to dictators before, and didn't say rapist once and the president made it very clear Mexico wouldn't pay for any wall (as though someone in the Mexican government has veto power on US tariffs). It's a style thing in that way.

You may find the rhetoric distasteful, but I promise you that this is very well-calculated to maximize the effect that he's looking for. The reason leftists find this racist is because a lot of the people who buy what he's selling are actual racists: the David Dukes, the white supremacists who think that Trump represents them (regardless of whether he does nor not), etc.. I personally don't really buy that this makes Trump racist, but I still think it's stupid that anyone gives a damn about those people.
He shouldn't need to sell to those people to win the election given how poor of a candidate Hillary is, but he's doing it anyway. If you don't need them to win the election, then disavow them straight up.

we can only hope wikileaks comes through in the clutch. I wonder what their timing will be. Also HRC would be buried already if johnson wasn't stealing so many trump voters.
