A 19-year-old Florida State University student was found biting a dead man's face in South Florida on Monday at the scene of a deadly stabbing, authorities said. Police pronounced Stevens dead at the scene, and later found Mishcon's body inside the couple's garage. She is the daughter of the former mayor of North Miami Beach. Martin County Sheriff’s Office officials said a female deputy arrived and found Harrouff on top of Stevens attempting to eat his face. "When she got there she realized that the offender was actually biting the victim in the face and causing what turned out to be some substantial trauma to his face from bite marks," Sheriff William Snyder said. Deputies were initially unsuccessful in getting him off of the victim with a stun gun and K-9 dog, officials said. A neighbor who initially came to the home to try and help was also stabbed by the suspect and taken to a nearby hospital for surgery. The neighbor, 47-year-old Jeff Fisher, is expected to survive. "I think he had a knife," Jeff Fisher told a 911 operator in a tape of the call released Tuesday. Breathing heavily and bleeding profusely, Fisher told the dispatcher the assailant had attacked a woman, who was lying motionless on the driveway, and then him when he tried to intervene. When asked if he knew the man, he replied, "I have no idea." The sheriff said the attacker had joined his family for dinner at a restaurant a short distance away when he stormed off, apparently agitated about slow service. About 45 minutes later, he apparently targeted the couple at random, the sheriff said. + Show Spoiler +Eventually, four deputies were able to pry him off and arrest him. Source
Holy shit that's the most metal story ever. Gets pissed at slow service and decides to try and eat people instead? Jesus.
In a related line of questioning, are bath salts still a thing or is that fad done with?

I guess in Florida it's known as "Flakka" and it's a "cousin" of the amphetamine found in bath salts. Searching videos of "High on Flakka" will give you an idea.
No idea if this guy was on it or not though. They tested him and are waiting on results. Imagine they'll ask him to.

Bro, what did I just watch? That's so messed up. I can totally see the people in these videos trying to eat someone's face. They're in another dimension...wow. Its like some real life exorcist stuff. Not sure if I'm glad I looked that up or not tbh.

What do you think, if he was black, would he have been shot on the spot or would they have tried to take him alive like that white guy?

He would be super extra dead.

very shot. more than once.

the only question would be how many people around him would have been hit too...

Just hours after Donald Trump's campaign announced Breitbart News Executive Chairman Steve Bannon would be its CEO, Republicans began bracing for the bottom to fall out of a presidential campaign many already acknowledged was spiraling out of control.
"I feel like Trump has declared war on the Republican Party," said Matt Mackowiak, a Texas-based Republican strategist who has had a long list of concerns about Trump for awhile. “He is determined to punch through the floor and see how low he can go."
In the three states considered the key to Trump's electoral math–Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio–Trump is trailing. He is so far behind at this point – in building infrastructure and in the polls –that electoral experts are warning that even if pulled out victories in those three states he could still potentially lose the White House as he loses ground in states Mitt Romney won in 2012.
Since formally winning the Republican nomination on July 19, Trump has backed away from decades' old commitments to U.S. NATO alliances, coldly attacked a Gold Star family, called on Russian hackers to find Hillary Clinton's emails, asked his Second Amendment supporters "to do something" to prevent Clinton from selecting Supreme Court justices if she were elected and repeatedly said Obama founded ISIS. With just 82 days until Election Day, the "pivot" that Republican strategists and reluctant congressional supporters were holding out hope for is a quaint relic from the days when Trump was just beginning to familiarize himself with a TelePrompter.
"I am who I am," Trump told WKBT-TV in Wisconsin during a one-on-one interview. "It's me. I don't want to change. Everyone talks about 'oh are you gonna pivot?' I don't want to pivot. I mean you have to be you. If you start pivoting, you are not being honest with people."
All of it has pushed Republicans into a position where they are left flabbergasted, exhausted and with few options to extinguish a dumpster fire that is consuming the party's best chances of taking back the White House in years.

Am i getting this right, Fox news tv-persons are saying Trump at this point is trying to win the elction but use the angry masses he infuriated to be his customers in a right wing media outlet with his name? That would be hilarious. Not hilarous would be if he would use the mob as an actual mob and set the States on fire, i'll take the news outlet over that.

For a moment I thought I was watching CNN and not Fox with how hard they are railing on Trump lol.

I think Fox News is doing a good job of distancing itself from Trump and his inevitable loss (except for the Roger Ailes connection), so that they don't get overly screwed by association when the Republicans lose the election... And, quite frankly, I'm surprised that more Republicans haven't jumped ship yet.

Not all of them, just enough to kill it. I don't remember any Democrats calling them out really either.

Then she should recognize that the debunked Wakefield paper, which is the root of the anti-vaxx hysteria, is guilty of precisely that. But I'm sure she knows that, and she's just pandering to those people to get their votes. And perhaps she could recognize the NSF as well as individual universities have their own funding. Pesticides and genetic modification does not rely on industry for funding. Some funding is provided to some studies, but it is incredibly easy to find a study done by a university that got the money from their sports programs. wait universities are using football money to fund studies on GMOs? can you find me an exampme Oregon State University profits from its football program and uses money generated to fund research. Oregon State studies GMOs extensively. can you provide a link please? this oregonstate.eduseems to indicate a lot of private contracts and grants. i dont have find on my phone that im aware of to search for football or athletics but in a quick read i didnt spot it anywhere Not really sure what to link. Being a professor at a university entitles you to a certain level of funding for research. PhD students get their paycheck and money for buying equipment and supplies from the university. The money made from various sources funds that. The football program is a notable income generator. 1) you said it would be "incredibly easy" to find a study funded by football and now you "don't know what to link" 2) that's not how funding works. professors actually give up a percentage of their grant money to the university as "rent" for facilities. if grants stopped being given out research would stop but football would go on 3) i think you don't know what you are talking about and are otherwise full of shit. this actually surprises me since i thought you knew how research worked since you work with semiconductors somehow
I think you have lost track of my original point.
1. Some people are skeptical of the science behind GMOs because they hear about Monsanto funding research and assume that Monsanto is basically just doing what cigarette companies did years ago.
2. I pointed out that scientific consensus at the time when cigarette companies were openly defending the position that cigarettes were non-toxic, was that cigarettes were definitely toxic and that the tobacco industry was openly defying scientific consenus
3. I then also pointed out that scientific consensus right now is that GMOs are exceedingly safe and do not warrant a moratorium (Jill Stein's official position on GMOs). This means the situation is distinct from years ago with the tobacco industry, and also highlights that when companies try to pretend they are safe, scientific consensus can be a reliable source of confirming/denying information.
4. I also pointed out that funding comes from many places and not just industry. Universities, the national science foundation, and many other entities contribute a lot of money to scientific research.
4a. Universities directly fund research themselves because they get money from tuition, licensing (football etc), donations and many other sources. Funding research is hugely to their advantage. By gaining notoriety and attracting further investment, universities are able to increase their overall value and prestige.
4b. Money generated from the various funding sources gets allocated to various colleges within a university. As an example, funding for DNA-packing research I did came directly from my professor asking the biophysics department for money. That money came from budgeting for the college of science. The college of science got its funding from the giant pot of funding, which includes and is not limited to football. I used football as an example of how far removed from the industry funding can be.
4c. Even within a specific professor's research group, certain students may get entirely different funding based on where the funding comes from. A professor is given funding directly from the school to pay for PhD students and the supplies and equipment needed for their work. But professors can also get funding from "centers", such as is found here:
http://greenchemistry.yale.edu/about-the-center
Centers act as a hub of research and can request massive grants from the NSF. For centers like the one above, they can be awarded up to $20M every 4 years, which is then distributed among the contributors as seen fit by the management staff of the center. This means, as I have seen, that sometimes students from certain research groups will go to a conference, whereas another student for the same professor can not be able to go, because they are not being funded for that.
4d. There are ALSO cases where a student is directly funded by a company. As an example, someone in the group I was a part of was funded directly by a glass company. His research was focused on ways to improve amorphous materials relevant to this glass company. They had monthly meetings which were not seen in any other student because the company wanted to monitor progress. This student's experience was wildly different from other students'. He didn't have to teach or do much of anything besides research.
Long story short, funding can come from many, many different places. The majority of funding of scientific research does not come from companies with a vested interest. My work in biophysics was directly funded by the college of science.
In conclusion, we can trust scientific consensus when they tell us GMOs are safe.

Think conservative talk radio providing the staying power. Since it's an easy mistake after you've heard it once or twice, you'll even find it in the New York times given its play with politicians and commentators. This is all par for the course unless you have some strange enlightened view of politics in your mind, in which case I pity you.
