The fear of countries Iran having a nuke is if they are crazy enough to give it to a third party to use. But even then, it’s not like the world couldn’t figure out where it came from if they used it. If they wanted to create the political will for the US and allies to invade their country, using a nuke against any country would pretty much be the source of unlimited amounts of that.

A nuke is pretty useless except as a dick enhancement unless you have enough to impose a credible MAD threat anyways.

I think the biggest danger from an Iran nuke would be how Israel would react to it. They would stop at nothing to prevent Iran from completing the final steps to getting a working nuke (with some justification), and a war between Iran and Israel would be a disaster.

There isn't one, just empty rhetoric, chest beating, and shitty Beach Boys remixes.

It's actually responses like this which make intellectual discussion on a gaming forum a fool's errand. Khomeini has distributed a 416-page manifesto outlining his political ideology; the Iranian equivalent of the Monroe Doctrine or Roosevelt Corollary. There's nothing empty about that rhetoric. Read the damn thing instead of regurgitating idealism from an administration you admire.

Guess what? I admire it, too. I think Obama is one of the most intelligent presidents in recent memory. The Iran Deal is a gross intellectual misstep riddled with misplaced idealism.

Oh, and I want Bernie to win, too. He won't. Such blind idealism has no place in this world, my friend. Time to wake up.

Still waiting for that alternative solution.

The superior solution is allowing them to develop nukes in exchange for them helping in dismantling ISIS, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. Its only a smart deal if you have a narrow view (aka "nonproliferation expert") of the world.

How do we ensure they do that? Well, the enforcement options in the nuke deal are no better: War, or sanctions.

It's a very pretty "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" scenario, but what on earth is going to make Iran do x in exchange for y? Like, do we straight up say "hey, if we knock out this laundry list of organizations destabilizing the mideast, we'll give you a usb with plans for a nuclear bomb?

There are sanctions in place, remove them in an orderly fashion when Iran completes it's goals. It's basically an arms agreement: we dismantel our sanctions, you dismantle local Islamic terrorist groups.

@gorsameth, mostly agree. I just am much less concerned with a nuke than driving a wedge between radicalism and the government of 70?million people.

A wildfire raging through the foothills and canyons of Northern California's coastal mountains roared into its sixth day on Monday, leaving at least two dozen homes in ruins and displacing thousands of residents after the fire more that doubled in size on Sunday.

The blaze, which has scorched about 93 square miles east of Lower Lake, a town about 110 miles north of San Francisco, was the fiercest of 20 large fires being battled by 9,000 firefighters across the state, officials said.

Capt. Don Camp of California's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said containment of the fire in the Lower Lake area was at 12 percent Monday morning after being stuck at 5 percent for days.

"This is a very fast-moving wildfire," said Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention, or Cal Fire, on Sunday.

A separate blaze that killed a U.S. forest ranger on Thursday near the Oregon border has also expanded, but remains a fraction of the size of the Rocky fire, which erupted in Lake County on Wednesday and has proved the most destructive.

Cal Fire officials “are calling the behavior of this fire unprecedented,” Jason Shanley, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, told the Sacramento Bee. “It is jaw-dropping to see some of the things it is doing" in wind that is causing flames “to go in all different directions.”

Some 20,000 acres of scrub oak and brush ravaged by the Rocky fire over a five-hour period on Saturday night represented "unprecedented growth in that short amount of time," Berlant said. By Sunday evening, the blaze had blackened another 7,000 acres along the rugged eastern flanks of California's Northern Coast Ranges, officials said.

But in a small sign of optimism on Monday morning, firefighters were aided by lower temperatures and higher humidity, which allowed for the slight increase in the fire's containment.

lol.

You still never provided a viable alternative. Which only further proved my point. The slights and insults seemed weirdly out of place.

Clutz at least came up with something, although, it's the only idea I've heard of that would have even less support in congress and would spark even wilder accusations than the Huckabee "Jews to the furnace" crap.

The deal ain't perfect but it's critics still don't have a better alternative.

That is totally nonsensical.

I agree that my idea would have less support

People are too afraid of nukes. They are unlikely to be used. Biologicals are far scarier for a place like modern Iran (with its terror ties) to possess, and they basically need a few high-quality Ph.D.s a lab with a million dollars of funding and a few crazy people to conduct that kind of operation. That there is no such superflu etc roaming the West right now is proof strong evidence that they want the nuke primarily for deterrence.

lol yeah, the Dems are the one's throwing it.

Presumably you've seen the heads up between the Rep. leading candidate where Hillary wallops him and Bernie beat's him by 20%

Dems are blowing their load to soon. They are climaxing during foreplay while being unable to penetrate the silent majority's orifice. Hillary peaked 2 months ago and is now in her refractory period, Trump has steadily became more erect over the last 2 months and continues to throb.

Who cares? There is no way in hell that Trump will win. In fact, him winning the primaries is probably the best thing that could happen for the democrats.

Talking about primaries: why is this thread mainly about the elections when they are still more than a year away. At this point it is really more gossip than politics.

Law enforcement officials from the Washington area and across the country said Monday that there has been a recent increase in shootings in several major cities but that they haven’t pinpointed what’s causing the spike in violence.

Officials from several cities, including the District, St. Louis, Chicago and Baltimore, met at the Newseum in the District to discuss the trend and possible solutions to the violence. They were joined by criminology professors, attorneys and others.

“We had this meeting as an urgent summit because we felt a sense of urgency because people are dying,” D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said at a news conference after the summit. “We have not seen what we’re seeing right now in decades.” ...

This has to be a joke, right? Tiny sample size plus totally ignoring the shift in police-civilian dynamics from this time last year?

Hopefully the lead will poison him.
The unrealistic sound of these propositions is indicative, not of their utopian character, but of the strength of the forces which prevent their realization.
