I found this topic (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?currentpage=1&topic_id=15345) from over a year ago and it is quite close to what I'm looking for but not exactly.
I am looking for a firesharing paid service to download mp3 songs that I can put on my MP3 CD's so they play in my car.
I have looked at a few places, but they aren't very exact on what you specifically get. So I'm hoping some of you have tried places like Napster or Yahoo.
What I want: 1. To pay monthly, NOT PER SONG. I.E Like Napster you get unlimited downloads to any CD for a fixed monthly rate(but I think you are contracted to pay for a year ??)
2. I want to be able to download whole mp3 albums at once.
3. I want this music to be able to be burned on my MP3 CDs so I can play them in my car(my car plays mp3 cd's).
Anyone had any good success with any specific company, or know for sure of a place that offers what I'm looking for?
|
MMM.. I have looked more into many different types of companies and have come to a few conclusions:
Even though you pay per month you're hooked on for a year. That means that 5 or 10 a month becomes 60 to 120.
They are VERY vague on whether you can download music and put them onto CDs. I read on yahoo it said something to the sort that it costs 79 cents to download a song playable to a CD.....
This leads me to believe that I can't even put this unlimited music onto my CDs for free?!
arg..

Just buy real CDs and rip them onto your computer.

Yeah and pay 15 a CD as opposed to possibly getting unlimited amount of CDs for the same price?
Logical.

6. What happens to the music I downloaded to my PC if I cancel my Membership? If you cancel your Membership, the music you downloaded from Napster will no longer be playable at the end of your current billing period. You can still use Napster Light to play and organize all of the music you own without a membership fee. Access Napster Light with same user name and password. With Napster Light, you can also sample 30-second clips and buy songs for 99¢ and albums from $6.95. If you decide to resume your Napster Membership, your Napster music library will be restored and your downloaded music will be playable again.
OK this confirms what I thought. The supposid 'unlimited' music download is not able to be burned onto CD. You have to pay to buy songs able to do that.. WTF?
Then I guess my next question is.. Where can I find ANY place where you can download whole MP3 albums?
EDIT: For Free

Oh are you friggen retarded? What fucking retard band will let some derro like you download a whole album pretty much for free? $15 for unlimited album downloads? What the fuck man? Theres no such thing. The closest youll get to legal filesharing is iTunes.com, but thats just 1 song at a time for like 90c.

it's possible to respond to this guy's inquiry without all the bullshit attitude, you know.
i'm not aware of any kind of service that you're looking for, mhx. i'm assuming you're morally opposed to the illegal sharing of mp3's via torrents? if not, look into that.
|
why do you want to legally download things in the first place? Do you think the police are going to kick down your door for downloading that good charlotte mp3?
|
Nonono Morally I dont give a fuck
But when I download things on Ares etc.. its annoying for two reasons
1. Its very unorganized(thats why I want to download albums and not single songs)
2. Its annoying to look up the names of every single song from an album and download each song and wait for each one individually.. its just a hassle.
So Yeah I have no problem dl'ing illegally I just thought legal firesharing programs would actually be useful by now so I was looking into it. But alas I was wrong..
And about torrents: I don't know anything about them really. Can you use them to download whole albums of mp3 music at once? And if so what would be the best places(i.e fastest/most organized/most relyable) ?
|
u could like just use bearshare or something and get it for free u know. its not like the police is gonna knock on ur door the next day or something
|
usually you can download even whole discographies on torrents ;O !
|
itunes.com lets you download individual songs or entire albums at once and burn them to a cd (i'm not sure how many times though).

I'm pretty sure with napster you do pay to burn to CD actually ;o Per song I mean. Only free for your computer!

Torrents are what you want. Check out www.torrentspy.com www.torrentz.com isohunt thepiratebay once you have a torrent client and you should be set. Most music torrents are by album, not song.
BTW, any mp3 or other format music file should be burnable using programs like Nero or EasyCDcreator. I don't think there's any way to lock a file from burning to CD.

I just thought legal firesharing programs would actually be useful by now This is the problem, theyre not. The developers and industry still hasnt gotten it through it's head that we no longer wish to contend with mother fucking bullshit of any kind whatsoever to listen to music. As you said, some require yearly committments, others only let you download but not burn, others charge additional fees for converting and putting on cd, etc etc etc. Yet they dont try real hard to advertise it like this, instead they make it sound all fluffy bunny and cute. Well then they just piss us off once we find out all the hidden bs and so forth for what should be a simple process. Well you know what? There is a simple process.. Click click done.
