What is this keyboard called that Mvp uses? I'm sorry i have to post such a meaningless thread, but this i the last resort, given that i couldn't find it anywhere else.
So what is it called?
Thank you in advance
The reason I'm looking for this keyboard is because it doesn't look too expensive and looks somewhat expandable, and good for gaming.

|
yep its a Qsenn. Standard SC1 keyboard all the Korean pros use. FlaSh is even using it in that FPVOD that was released recently.

Its a DT-35 used by pretty much all Korean progamers, both in BW and sc2. Its fairly cheap here, and found everywhere. They come in white and black. I'm using one right now. there isn't anything amazing about the keyboard, just fuctions well and is easy to find if they break or get worn out. plus allow for a lot of customization, with the keycaps being able to be changed. Which is how mkp got his famous checkered keyboard he was using in the old GSL's

Most distributers selling these to outside of korea will charge $30 or more, which is not what it's worth. It's a cheap and robust membrane keyboard that has a good feel to it for the price you pay. Normally at it's price point keyboards that cheap feel like shit.

Thanks for swift responses

I saw someone pouring water on it on Youtube so I copied trying to wash it, and it died.

If you're looking to become a better player, brand of keyboard won't help you much. It's nothing special and it's pretty much the same thing as the cheapest logitech/microsoft keyboard.

^I don't know about that, I can't find another keyboard that has the nice smooth feel of the Qsenn DT-35. I think it's definitely the greatest priced keyboard out there
|
the sound of that keyboard...
|
Wow, that looks like a really nice keyboard.
|
It's a membrane dome keyboard right?

you can buy his keyboard, but not his special terran powers

It's a nice membrane keyboard, but only for the price you'd pay for it in Korean retail, I have a bunch of Korean friends who came back with 4 of these for ~$10 each. $30 (+$30 shipping?) for foreigners is too much imo.
|
thats the one BW pros use too
|
if bws and sc2 pros use it, then it must be good

I heard that This Keyboard has nothing special about it. Just cheap, durable, and easy to find. But even though I want one of these! Hehe! They are very cheap at NaDaMall Only 17$

qsenn dt-35 ftw! and i agree there is nothing special at all just probably one of the better membrane keyboards. definitely not worth it if you plan to spend more than 20 bucks(including shipping). i got mine in korea so i only spent around 15 or less.

How can MVP be so good with using just the arrows keys?! He needs to teach meeee....
|
funny story of the q-senn dt35
Once upon a time foreigners wonder why koreans are so gosu are bw. They came to the conclusion that all the korean players have something in common, they use similar keyboards (q-senn dt35). Bw players just get the keyboard cuz its cheap and easily obtainable. If they play all day, they are bound to destroy keyboards on a daily basis. So the following things happen
1. Foreigners start buying the keyboard because they want to be as gosu but still not able to 2. sale of the keyboiard sky rockets because of these foreigners and they sell online for mega high price compared to the original. 3. people actually do buy the keyboards for high price
|
Hint: It's not the keyboard.
+ Show Spoiler +Second hint: It's not the wrists either :'(
Edit: Not criticizing, I got a Qsenn dt-35 myself :D
|
OP isn't asking for MVP's skill, he's just asking what kind of keyboard it is. No idea why you guys would jump to that, especially considering he said that he wanted it because it looked like a nice, cheap keyboard that's good for gaming.
|
Yeah i didn't mean to say it will increase my level of skill, what i meant to say was that it looks cheap and expandable, and is still good for gaming
|
On May 20 2012 12:20 mTwTT1 wrote: dont buy it its a shitty keyboard, if u want mvp's skill lvl u need his fingers not his keyboard
Yeah, but dont buy his wrists tho.
|
Even the best mech keyboard won't help you play better unless you are currently uncomfortable on your own keyboard. Comfortable use is another thing entirely, though. It's up to you if improving this significantly is worth the money to you. The Qsenn probably won't help in this regard, either. If you want to look like the Koreans, go for it.
As for the Dt35 - check out your school campus's computer rooms or offices. They probably all have similar Dell keyboards and mice. Ask yourself, is this because they are so super good that every campus wants them, or because they're simply reliable and cheap, and these facilities tend to burn through a whole lot of them?

I buy them for $16 including p&p on ebay so that's not necessarily true.

i found 2 on ebay one gaming edition and one without the " gaming " tag and without the weapon at the numlock lights. where is the difference? both are called dt-35 qsenn....?

I don't really understand your point with dropping bombs. ._.

rubber dome keyboards break very often; if you play 12 hours a day you're likely to go through 3 a year.
Get a mechanical keyboard; Filco Majestouch 2. I promise you'll thank me despite the price. Its sheer perfection.
I've had mine for a year now; it has blue switches and even after all this time i still feel the pleasure of typing and using it. It's amazing.

Yup, but if plenty of people agree that this one particular keyboard is very comfortable, and you intend on wasting many hours with gaming, I think one could give it a try. Anyways, I'm using wireless equipment exclusively. As far as I heard, that's the worst equipment for competitive gaming. :-/

It is a Korean brand and can be bought in Korea. Where you are from, you will be able to get something similar and cheap from some other brand, perhaps Logitech, Cherry, Dell, Microsoft, Keysonic, Fujitsu, etc. Just get the cheap keyboard on which you make the least mistakes while typing fast, where you do not hit the wrong keys and the keys do not get stuck easily, and it will be just as good for you as the DT-35 is for Koreans. And do not buy a wireless keyboard or mouse.

The keyboard doesn't matter! Anyone below High GM can't play with every 5$ Keyboard, it makes no difference -_-
|
Keyboards, mouses and all that stuff really don't matter at all T_T. I hate it when people buy the same gear as progamers just because they saw progamers use it.
Just get something u like.

I bought a few of these years ago.. still use it.
The main difference is that the keys are slighly smaller / closer together.
|
Rubber dome bad keyboard
|
Of course getting some pro gaming equipment will not make you a significantly better player but it can be a motivation to put in some effort to actually get better.
The reason I tend to buy gaming eq is that these companies are pretty high up on the sponsor list for the ESports scene and I want to support them while I can.
|
Just buy the cheapest possible keyboard you can find. It doesn't matter if it's a logitech or a qsenn or whatever, Just buy the cheapest model they make and that's what the pros use. Keyboard has absolutely nothing to do with skill.

Let me sum it up for everyone.
1. Korean pros buy this cheap keyboard because it's cheap and easily replaceable. 2. Korean pros get really good at Starcraft, primarily by playing it 24/7. 3. Foreigners want to become pro at Starcraft without actually developing any real skills. 4. Foreigners come to the conclusion that the brand of keyboard used by the Korean players is a contributing factor in success. 5. Demand for said cheap keyboard develops amongst Western gamers. 6. Importers sell the keyboard onto the hapless masses, sometimes for as much as 10 times the price that it retails for in Korea. 7. People actually buy them.
Moral of the story: Go to your local supermarket and buy the cheapest keyboard you can find. Same difference.

I don't think that many people really believe having the same keyboard as their favourite pro gamer will allow to become much better at the game, however, please remember, we do actually need people to buy hardware from sponsors to appease the sponsors :D !
And also, this thread was started more of curiousity, I do not the think the OP thinks he can become MVP overnight by buying his keyboard, and anyone trying to state that people who do this are stupid are really just stating the obvious about a minority
That said, if you are going to spend a lot of time at the comp and do have the cash, I see nothing wrong with going mechanical for comfort, considering the amount of time you spend pressing the keys (although still on my £15 10 year old Logitech Keyboard )

How is it better than that? Have you actually tried a mechanical keyboard yourself?
I don't really think there's something called "better". People buy a mechanical keyboard because it is more comfortable, which is a fact.

Perhaps saying that they feel better was wrong by me, but I mean it's more tactile (better response) which most ppl think is way more comfortable.

Does anyone know what website Mvp is looking at?
|
I can recommend (if you can spare the extra cash) a mechanical keyboard. If you don't know what that is, simply google it and know that steelseries, filco, razer etc. make awesome keyboards (recommend the steelseries, or even better the filco, I ahve razer blackwidow myself). They feel fantastic, the tactile feel of a mech. keyboard is amazing. Having said that, I have never tried MVP's keyboard, but I'm quite happy with mine....
|
Koreans use them because it's cheap (in Korea) and it's Korean made (patriotic to buy your country's own products)
The keyboard doesn't magically make you better, those that sell for $50 each are ripoffs
|
Does anyone know what earplugs he uses?
|
The DT-35 is the best non-mechanical keyboard I've ever used. The key height, resistance, etc all feel pretty much perfect. They're a bit expensive to obtain in the US because they aren't normally sold here, but if you ever get to Korea I recommend picking up a couple. They were the equivalent of about $15 USD while I was there. There's a reason people pay $50 - $70 to get them shipped to the US. They really are that good.
That said, I do prefer my mechanical keyboard more. A lot of the progamers over there have been using DT-35s for years and years though so not many want to switch. Some do because of sponsorship reasons, but a lot (like MVP) still prefer to stick with what they're used to.
*EDIT* I'm somewhat of a keyboard nerd so I felt the need to jump in.

Progamers use it because it's cheap and they're familiar with it, especially for ex-BW progamers.

First TT1 post I've seen in awhile that hasn't been complete shit, he's absolutely right. The keyboard is just a cheap standard keyboard, the reason it's popular with pros in Korea is that it's super cheap (not the case if you're a foreigner), easy to find and they're used to it because a lot of them have been using them for years.

That said, 6Gv2 isn't exactly the keyboard people have in mind when they think of the high quality of mechanical keyboards... 6Gv2 is so cheap that it's questionable if you can even call it a mechanical keyboard, even though it obviously is
|
I would not call the Steelseries keyboard cheap, and the price does not have to mean a keyboard is bad. At least the key switches themselves are all the same, so the most important part of the keyboard will be fine, no matter the price. The Steelseries feels much more robust than my Cherry G80-3000 I bought about ten years ago. A new Cherry G80-3000 only costs around 55 € at the moment (in Germany), and it still works and feels the same it always did after ten years of use.
|
Q-Senn DT-35, used only because it is very economical and does the job over there ( I think $5 a keyboard over there ) not because there is anything special about it. It costs $35 to get it in the US, this pretty much eliminates its value and thus there is no reason to really get one.

The keyboard does not make the player. Did someone even say that? I think its intresting that he doesnt have one of those flashy logitech or razer crap with like a thousand macro buttons. How is that interesting? Is it interesting that Starcraft pros are actually smart enough to understand that the mouse and keyboard you use doesn't mean shit?
Well you see most of the pro-gamers with flashy stuff so I find that intresting. Im personally playing on a logitech crap from 2003 that I bought for what would be about 10 dollar or less. I find it fantastic.

Players use the keyboards that they have to use due to their sponsors, none of them actually cares about macro buttons and all that stuff.

Almost all of them use the DT-35, though i know that the Startale team uses Zowie Celeritas.

I guess neither have I tbh. Mostly seen western programers with that kind of stuff when I think about it.

To be fair to western pro-gamers nearly every team on the scene has a gear sponsor and who wouldn't take what is probably a free keyboard that normally costs anywhere from $60 to $100? Also I'm sure some of the bigger teams require their players to use their sponsors equipment during big events (see SK forcing their players to use Gunnars during live events or be fired)

The type of hardware does matter as it's a manner of being comfortable. If you're able to be comfortable with a QSENN, that's great. I wouldn't play without a mechanical keyboard anymore as that's comfy for me. That's why it's not "pretty much the same thing"

This.
However for those who are loaded, its not wrong to spend some bucks and get yourself a black widow ultimate or something, Its gaming afterall u want urself to feel good when you are gaming isn't it? a keyboard can really makes u feel good

By the way i agree that keyboard is not so much a priority for the gamers. However its better that u invest some money in a good mouse. The accuracy of a mouse is really important on face paced gaming

A bad OP is still a bad OP.

I heard the Nada's Body thread started with a bad OP too Anyway, would a Filco be good purchase for me? (never had a mechanical keyboard but thinking about buying one)
